You could say that by the end of the game score and by how close the Mavs got it at the end but I dont think MENTALLY it was ever that close. Or that the Celtics actually thought they were going to lose.
The most winningest basketball player in history was Bill Russell. The man was hardly on a team at any level, high school, college or NBA that didn't win a championship.

There are a lot of incredibly talented players in the league, and the goal is to amass as much talent as possible, collectively, to form the best team. Even if you remove all the Patriots rings, Boston still has more rings since 2000 than any other city besides LA, who has 8 teams compared to 4 in New England. Absolutely bonkers. They are tied with SF until the Cs clinch this one.

I mean, the Celtics were the best team in the NBA in 2022, but also the laziest team in 2022! Like, they had a 20-something point lead going into the 4th quarter of Game 7 that year's ECF, and they let the Heat get back in it so much, Jimmy Butler tried to take the lead on a 3, and I STILL remember the SHEER FUCKING RAGE that dissipated in my body when he missed it! This is not that same team! At least not in the playoffs, they're not!
