I really like the wet shellac sanding technique. I am definitely going to use it !!!!
Thank you for such an in depth video on your process.
Gorgeous box!
Your the “Master” !!!!!
Looks great amazing job
Hi ! How did you manage to keep all your fingers with them so close to the dado blade? 😱
Beautiful box though. ❤
Scary close!
Outstanding!
Outstanding work 👏👏
That's sharp 👌 I've never seen the stain and sanding trick thats cool
love those clamps is all we used in the cabnet shop
Nice box. If you really want to make the inlays pop, miter them prior to installing. Did you use hinges for the lid? If not, how did you finish off mounting the lid? Maybe a short follow up vid with the finished box? Thanks!
Absolutely! I ended up doing a friction lid. I posted the finishing of the box in the latest video.
Cool
Nice work, the only thing that got me though was how sloppy the glue was, even after wiping it with a wet rag and sanding the glue that soaked into the grain of the walnut has to stand out and leave glue stains when finish is applied. I was really hoping to see it finished.
Robert, thanks for watching! Here is the link to the finishing of the box: CNC Wood Inlayed Cribbage Board | Part 5 | Keepsake Box

The sanding process removes all the glue marks, but you are absolutely right, it’s a mess when glueing everything up. Thanks again!
Beautiful!
I was reminded of how I messed up a. Nice project with glue stains I should have mentioned my own experience with glue, I meant no offense
Excellent work brilliant friend, have a nice day. Brian UK !!!.😀😀👍👍.
Thanks!
How did you manage to get wood grains to mimic a distant mountain range while foreground resembled a rocky desert scene? Masterful! Back in the 60s Jeanette Erickson (married name) and I (intern from C-bus Business Univ. through Ballou Employment Agency) worked for Ms. Fanny Short. Mrs. Erickson was a taller-than-I-was curly blonde, blue-eyed co-worker full time, intelligent, friendly, kind and not afraid of the demanding, sometimes harsh Ms. Short. I was 18, Mrs. Erickson prolly early to mid- twenties. Do you know her? Long shot but she was from Hibbing, MN. 😊
Thanks! Different wood species has some remarkable grain, each are unique and placed right gives a dynamic affect.
No relation on this part, but thank you for sharing!
22:26 I have no idea what the box is going to be used for, but I'm totally puzzled why you would separated in half right down the middle.
Lenny, I cut down the middle to open the box up as I ended up doing a friction to open and close the lid. The box is made to house a cribbage board. Cheers!
Great work. What are you brushing on the inlays before sanding? Is it super glue?
That is sanding sealer. I use it to protect and fill in little defects in the Veener. Also, helps with bleed through for the base wood. Thanks for watching!
How did you deal with the excess glue on the inside corners of the box?
I usually tape the inside corners to help with glue clean-up. This was a prototype box for myself, so I ended up just using my chisel and a little bit of sanding. There was some discoloration left over as I didn't get all of it, but it was for me, and I didn't mind. Taping the corners is the go-to method though. Cheers!
how you do the scene of mountains etc?
Thanks for watching! Here is a link to the video of how the mountain scene was made. Laser Marquetry Veneer Inlay | Mountain Scene

Awesome techniques, beautiful marquetry, great dato stack, killer looking inlays. Flawless techniques, thanks for sharing. After all that time and effort, what do you sell a box like this for?
Thanks! I'm still working through the numbers. My website should be up early next week :)
Looking forward to it. Hope all goes well for you.
What's the reason for the seal coat remaining wet while sanding, is it for a filler.
That is the trick to get seamless joints in wood. Most use glue with sawdust mixed, but once dried, you can see the difference in shade and color within the seams. Using sanding sealer pushes the sawdust in and sets it without discoloration. A very effective and fast way to fix small imperfections.
@@EricksonWoodworking Thank you, I do use a mixture salc and the sawdust to fill cracks. Frankly I like your method better.
@@EricksonWoodworking This is the first time I've ever seen that done, and it's brilliant.
how much would you sell a box like that for? my guess $200.
That’s a great question. I’m still working on the pricing on those. I put a lot of time and effort in these, which makes it extremely difficult to price appropriately. My website goes live in a few days so we will see!
Зачем клеить феленки, это не правильно
It is very dangerous to keep your fingers close to the blade.
Spend too much time showing details from all angles. One view would be sufficient. We know all corner are exactly the same.
Thank you for the feedback! Still learning all this video editing. The next ones coming online soon will be a lot better. Thank you again for watching!
