I just started The Mortal Instruments, I am 49 years old, and you are inspiring me to read books that my younger self would have most likley loved, I have been reading a lot of young adult novels as when I was a teen, my generation did not have many or even young adult books. So I am starting with City of Bones and am loving it so far

I think the reason I liked Death In Her Hands is because I work in a behavioral health hospital with the elderly population ... when you said that her loneliness has "made her inner world very rich" I laughed; it is a very polite way to describe paranoia / delusional disorders.I might start saying that myself haha. The character reminded me a lot of my patients. We prefer not to use the word crazy though :)

No bestie you're absolutely not being dramatic! Fredrik Backman is honestly such a master at writing emotionally charged books. I read A Man Called Ove in February & I still regularly think & cry about it lol I need to pick up this novella when I'm mentally stable enough for it.

My grandfather's health has been deteriorating quickly and it's been an awful time for me, because I have always had a close relationship with him. Watching you get emotional over the book, I cried along with you and it was so cathartic, it felt like someone really understood how devastated I feel. And every morning the way home gets longer and longer is a really sad book, but so beautiful. For me who had a great grandmother with Alzheimer's disease, it made even more painful and tearful to read this. It touched me in so many ways. Fedrik Backman is so talented and sensitive in this novella.

I feel the exact same way about books in general. I felt like I was losing my mind last year because I disliked almost every book I read and i only had one five star read. I haven’t gotten a 5 star at all this year either but I’m definitely glad that I’m at least enjoying more than I did.

P.S I really wish you would try the hidden legacy series by Ilona Andrews (in case you already did, please ignore this!). The covers are catastrophic and can scare you away but underneath it all, it has a great plot and characters. Its one of my favorite fantasy romance series ever, so do give it a try if you can! 🤧
