    Thank You so much Dr Ankita for your videos. I have a question. In this video in the second draw when you open the flap as I understand you state that we still have a collar of soft tissue attached to the tooth ? What is that collar that you states need to be removed ? Is that granulation tissue ? Please let me know Thanks

    • @dentalstudiessimplified
      @dentalstudiessimplified  Před 3 lety +1

      That collar is marginal gingiva tissue which is inflamed and separated from non inflamed portion by our Initial internal bevel incision. Once incisions are complete, we perform reflection which make marginal tissue resection easier.

    Firstly I would like to thank Dr Ankita Kotecha for your hardwork and clear presentation. There is one thing I don't clear after watching this and Original Widman Flap. I think these 2 techniques are quite similar. My question is what is the difference between APF and Original Widman flap? Thank you so much😊

    What is the mechanism of getting attached gingiva here? In the single-incision marf procedure, we have cell migration from the keratinized tissue surrounding the incision into the exposed periosteum. But, here it is not clear to me how we get the attached gingiva

    what is the difference between apical positioned flap and the original widman? Thank you!

    • @dentalstudiessimplified
      @dentalstudiessimplified  Před 3 lety

      APICALLY REPOSITIONED flap is pocket elimination technique which has added advantage of increasing width of attached gingiva. Here ,the horizontal incision is decided based on considerable factors.
      Orignal widman flap is also pocket elimination technique which is radical in nature.
      Kindly go through both the videos to get a better insight. Also, refer the notes .
      Hope these helps.
      Thank you

    • @dentalstudiessimplified

    Ma'am....What's the difference b/w modified widman n apically repositiond flap

    • @dentalstudiessimplified
      @dentalstudiessimplified  Před 3 lety +1

      both are different flap techniques. modified widman flap is pocket reduction flap technique (modified from orignal widman flap which is pocket elimination tehnique). apically repositioned flap is pocket elimination technique which has added advantage of increase in width of attached gingiva.
      kindly go through the playlist periodontal flap surgical techniques in this channel to watch all flap techniques in individual videos.
      hope these helps. thank you.

    So the thickness of attached gingiva is decreased right?

    • @dentalstudiessimplified
      @dentalstudiessimplified  Před 3 lety

      Yes, the thickness or the biotype changes towards thin type. That's y this technique is contraindicated in pre existing thin biotype cases.

    • @dentalstudiessimplified
      @dentalstudiessimplified  Před 3 lety

      Thickness and width are the two important factors taken into consideration. By this technique, width is definitely increased significantly but thickness alters to a thin type but this reduction in thickness is within acceptable limits of aesthetics and function.
      Conversely, if this technique is attempted in thin biotype cases, post operative recession may occur.
      Hope these answers helps.

    How will it increase attached gingiva maam?

    • @dentalstudiessimplified

      It's cellular differentiation of alveolar mucosa. The shifted mucogingival complex becomes attached gingiva. Refer lindhe, and cohen textbook
