- In this video we go through the 1 basic steps to detailing the interior of your car (for beginners). From hoovering out, to dressing the plastics, and right the way through to conditioning your leather seats, we go through all the stages to getting the inside of you car looking like it did in the showroom.
These are just the basic steps, and would be done during most routine washes - with the possible exception of leather cleaning and conditioning which usually requires a simple wipe down if done regularly.
We will also soon be adding more in depth videos for each stage, and they will be linked below as and when they become available on our channel.

I have been binge watching your videos since yesterday. I know nothing about car care and I find these videos very easy to follow and very educational.
I really like how you explain the method just by showing it rather than talking and also I like how you explain what products you use along the way. Keep up the good work, probably the best and most informative channel I have seen.
Thanks 👍
I appreciate you adding links and name of every items used in the process.
thanks
Nice informative video. I like how this is no nonsense and not over the top like a lot of videos out there. Granted it wasn’t a disaster detail but it shows you can save so much faffing about if you just do thing simply
This is killer! Practical, quick, and stylish. Love the results. Nice video!!
Another good vid Matt, very satisfying to watch, great tips, Thanks mate
Not a problem at all. Thank you
Nice one Matt, keep 'em coming.
The extra detail made the vid more interesting 👍
Thank you Phillip :D
Great video looking forward to more of these thanks 👍
Thanks. Make sure you check out all the videos we've uploaded
I really loved it ,Thank you Matt!❤️🇱🇰
No problem, glad you enjoyed it
Great video full of useful info but I don’t use APC on leather as I’ve been told it can damage the protective coating on it
Great videos, just what I needed. Thanks!
No problem, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great video thankyou!!
Yes , more videos like this awesome job 👍
Thank you
Great job and some great tips,I have been cleaning my mats at the very start even before hoovering, but find they get dust back on before I am finished the car, so will be doing them near the end from now on, thanks for your efforts to help others new subscriber.Willy (Ireland).
No probs.
The reason I do them last is due to constantly getting in and out of the car whilst cleaning. When I used to do customer's cars, I'd even take my trainers/boots off 😂
I really liked it. Thank you.
👍
Hi Mat, I recently spent two days cleaning my daughters Nissan (video posted) & good to see I followed the same steps as you.
Nice one. What model and year she got?
its a 2012 Qashqai + 2, it came complete with muddy footprints from a 12 & 7 year olds. Not cleaned properly for a couple of years but I beat it in the end.@@TheDetailingSpace
Nice video!👍
Thanks 👍🏻
Cheers Mat, I never thought about putting the cleaner onto the brush especially when your close to the windows,
Haha, no probs.... We all do things are own slightly different ways
Be careful with those upholstery brushes folks, some of them can be really harsh, I ruined one of the headrests in my old Note. As a rule of thumb start with the softest brush you have first and work up. Now I often use a 2" nylon paint brush where I have cut the bristles down to around an inch (that's 50mm and 25mm for the youngsters!). On interiors I do all the seats then start at the top and work down doing the mats and windows last. I prefer doing interiors over exteriors tbh as I find the whole snow foam/shampoo thing to be a pita.
You could consider a steam cleaner for the interior but you really need something with a bit of oomph. The Dupray neat is decent at £150 but anything with similar specs (you are looking at the temp and the pressure) will be fine.
Great video Matt
Thanks Davy. Do you do yours in this order?
Yes more or less. Like you say it can vary who has been in the car. Keep up the good work!!
A really nice effort, I like the tip about the vert and horiz lines on the glass, a nice tip, thanks 👍👍
I thought everyone knew that. I think my neighbour probably gave me that tip when I got my first car (jeezzz... that's almost 17 years ago!)
Detailing World if you watch the detailing vids they all say clean glass and then leave it at that, no method at all 👍
Odd... Maybe they're making assumptions that their viewers have a basic knowledge. Or, that said, sometimes what comes across as basic common sense to some folk (such as the glass cleaning tip), may not have even crossed someone else's mind.
Then there's also the fact that some of the other guys have probably done things for so long it's second nature, and they forget that to some people may have never thought about it.
Hope that all makes sense lol
Detailing World I think you just answered your own question there, your first response was that you thought everyone knew, lol. Thanks for the responses, much appreciated 👍
Awesome video, thats given me ideas how to do mine,i need to have a window cloth as well as I use a microfibre one.looks a lot cleaner.
The one I was using is a Dodo Juice Mint Merkin
Detailing World I will look for one of them, thanks.
No probs. I think most waffle weave type cloths will do the job.
Brilliant video thank you for sharing! How much time would we need to set aside to do a similar job?
A couple of hours at least
Nice job, how long did this take you to do?
Hi Mat. Which APC are you using in this video? I have bought G101 mixed 10:1 but doesn't foam up as good as this in video. What sort of brushes are best for the interior trim? I have some carbon collective ultra soft brushes and also some that are not as soft. Thanks in advance. Ashley
It'd be G101 I think (was filmed a while ago)
What’s the best way to remove short dog hair from the headliner (carpet on ceiling) ? What do you think of using tuff stuff spray cleaner for general seats, and seat cleaning ?? Great video. By fabric guard, do you mean products likes scotchgard ?
Use a rubber brush, or even some rubber gloves (seen people make them work before)
Tks for the tips. Do you or would you recommend a water extraction machine on cloth upholstery. I can rent one from home Depot for about 25 dollars for 4 hours. I really feel the seats are clean by doing that instead of spraying something on them and wiping it off..
victor newman I personally spray on my carpet cleaning solution, agitate with a brush then extract and have the extraction Machine filled with clean, warm water to then rinse out any leftover chemicals
Cracking video thanks but I've learnt not to use leather conditioner as car leather already has a protective coating. Just needs cleaned with a good leather cleaner
Thanks for sharing
Have you got any recommendations for cleaning and looking after a leather interior. Love your videos. Came across your channel after looking at the Detailed Online reviews. Keep it up 👍
I've done a video on that actually. Sure there's one usei g the Pulsar and Tenzi products
Thanks for getting back to me mate. I'll have a look on the web now for some. Cheers 👍
No problem
Nice job and some great tips! Question, what's the nifty looking car scent in a tin you show at 8:07
Ah, that. That is my favourite (although the Mrs hates fragrances - gives her a headache).
It's California Scents, in particular, Coronado Cherry.
Mmmmm..........
@@TheDetailingSpace Funny that, my Mrs gets a lot of headaches too - this is why I spend all weekend cleaning the car :)
I love the admire step best, not the rest 😁
Haha, thanks 👍
What APC do you use ? I'm looking for one but the only one I've been recommended is Meguiars APC , has anyone had any experience with this ? Or can anyone recommend me a good APC , Thanks :)
I use a variety of APC. Megs is good, G101 is usually in my collection too.
Great video, very useful tips and nice job on the car. My only nitpicking comment is that 'Hoover' is a brand name, the correct verb to use is 'vacuum.'
haha, sorry :D
Funny isn't it how some brand names are actually mistaken for products such as Blu-Tac, Velcro, Cellotape etc etc....I wonder if there any specific detailing products that get mistakenly called by their brand name rather than the actual product name?
Off the top of my head, isn't "Grit Guards" actually a brand name rather than the name of the product????
I think ONR may be another that people use to describe a process.
Great comment from Mr Dyson lol
Hi mat another top video don’t suppose you do 1 on 1 training I just bought a das-6 pro lol
Where are you based? It'd not something I have ever done myself, but possibly something I could look at just for a one off video.
Essex unfortunately lol just wanted some guidance on techniques and pad selection etc
@@St_Ben1980 Look at forensic detailing channel - he has a couple of vids on using a DA and talks about the DAS6
Nice video but lot of detailers don't use the method of air dusting. Step 2 should be air dusting with a air compressor or use a leaf blower while using a brush.
That's my opinion 😁👍😬💯
Another great video. What fabric cleaner do you recommend?
Thanks.
I've used various. In this instance I used AutoSmart's Biobrisk.
Can I use APC on door jambs? Or will it harm the paint?
Yes, of course you can 👍
Have you got different attachments for hoover to get in smaller areas
I have. I bought a cheap set off ebay years ago. Weren't the best tbh, but OK if desperate
So what do u recommend plz as I’ve just bought a bran new car with the Autoglym LifeShine package
Hi Mat. What interior trim dressing would you recommend? Thanks
I've been liking the stuff from Auto Glanz recently 👍
@@TheDetailingSpace thank you mate.
No problem
What Fabric Protector did you use? I've just bought some Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric V2 but there aren't many videos on thorough application.
I did my seats with this, a litre won't do att the seats and carpets in a 4x4 but should be ok for a standard 4 door. application is easy, just spray it on until the seat is damp to the touch and let it dry (around an hour). I would advise treating the heavy traffic areas (i.e. front) first then you can always skimp a bit if you start running out.
Can't comment on how good it is as I've only had it on a month or so
Very good video but is it me or is @ 8:13 the trim, seat belt and the handbrake are still dirty?
A little surface dust. Shot on 2 cars over 2 days
How long would this usually take you?
Pick up my next car in few days. Can't wait to spend whole day cleaning in and out. Thanks for tips
Not a problem at all. Enjoy your new car.
What you getting?
@@TheDetailingSpace volvo c30 r design. Love them
Nice. We looked at one a few years ago, but went with a Leon at the time (having always had Seats)
Good overview on basics. Best watched muted, however.
🤣 Thanks
I detail my own car but I’m usually all over the place 😂😮😮
🤣
i like how the music sounds at 2x speed
EH-EH-EH-EH-EH, TEGELEGE TEGELEGE
How much do you charge for that kind of job? Thanks
Depends on the condition. Usually done as part of a full detail
@@TheDetailingSpace and a full detail cost? Well... roughly for that size car (shown on video).
Thanks
Depends where you are based and what you call a "full detail" I've seen people charge as little as £50 for a maintenance wash and go up to 4 or 5 figure sums for a premium package.
Where are you based?
@@TheDetailingSpace exterior wash, polish, interior cleaning (as shown in video).
Wickford.
is leather conditioning so important?
To prolong the life and softness, it's a step worth taking a couple time a year
Your music sound like we are at a carnival try adding a little narration of what are you doing the product you’re using how good it is what is it used for and if it works with your step by step and get rid of the music
Sorry. Hard to find a balance that pleases everyone
That said, this is one of the earlier videos we did and things have improved since, trying to get the balance right.
good video but ditch the music fucking annoying
Bro. I can’t watch your videos because the music drives me insane.
Change your music
Sorry... This is one of the earlier ones. Many videos later, and things have improved
lose that goddamn music bro
Thanks for the feedback.... Videos have changed a lot in the 4 and a half years since that was posted.
video was perfect dont get me wrong just the music that gave me a nervous breakdown XD
