I think what made Ft Myers go to the dump is the same thing that is causing Collier County to do the same: Drug addicts, severely mentally ill becoming homeless due to lack of health care for them, inflation/housing market booms cutthroat market and lack of funding for programs for mental health services and lack of job opportunity. This whole country is going to crap. I just took a 2-week road trip from New Jersey through PA, WV, Virginia, the Carolinas, Mississippi, the panhandle, and down to Naples and this whole country is all starting to look the same sadly.
With de Sanctimonious in the governor's office , you can expect more socio/economic/political quagmires all over Florida. He is too busy illegally spending Florida's economic coffers on expensive, top dollar flights shipping migrants to places like Martha's Vineyard in Mass. I've been watching videos showing the run down spots in Florida all day. Florida has an unaddressed, massive drug/alcohol as well as an abundance of crime & homelessness. I don't think that anyone in their right mind would ever think that De Sanctimonious & Co. are the least bit concerned with these social inequalities affecting the entire Florida community. There will be more problematic Fort Myers - type communities springing up all over the Sunshine State as time progresses.
Fantastic video! You are a truth teller. You make all your videos very informative. You are very well spoken. You have told us you don't have a GED. You are very smart and a real journalist. Congratulation! We all love you.
You are basically only showing North Fort Myers which has always been like that. In 2010 you could buy houses in Cape Coral for $40k that are worth $400k now. And everywhere else houses have gone up 3x at least and so has rent. Don’t move to Florida unless you have skills. Jobs are everywhere but you need to know it’s not cheap to live here anymore. You won’t make it on your own at even $20/hour, you will need roommates. Until the beach is rebuilt in 2 years, tourism is going to be down, which is the lifeblood of this area. After 2025, Fort Myers is going to be huge for tourists again. Bigger than ever!
OMG! We use to live on East Riverside and we got out in 2020... It was getting bad... Dudes dropping poopy's on the sidewalk in downtown and females doing spread eagles in my front yard. Oh and I remember the car shows, fun times... And the Mexicans in Tice were some of the best people this redneck ever met. Thanks for the vids Big Papi PR strong. ( We live in Sarasota now - much nicer )
They ruined it all 😭😭😭 all the mexicans are gone now mostly. And the crime is way worst now than 2020. Were in LWR now thankfully loving this area its like what FM 239 was like back than.
The last straw was when the wife and I went for a stroll down Tarpon Street fishing pier at about 8pm on a summer night. ( Still light out ) Well what we encountered made us put the house up for sale the very next day. 3 homeless men having gay sex ( yes, ass banging ) right in the bushes there by the kayak launch and a female shooting heroin. Terrible and most disgusting thing my eyes ever seen in my 44 years alive.

I'm from Massachusetts and I visit my grandmother in Englewood every year. I'm sorry to say this but I'm not a fan of Florida. I find that many people, not all are arrogant and they size me up before I can even start talking. It's like they know that I'm a Yankee and it doesn't make me feel welcome. Many places I've gone to with my grandmother I've heard people be openly racist and constantly talking about politics, almost all Trumpers. I could never live in Florida. My grandmother wants me to move here but I hate it. Videos like this just confirm everything I already thought about Florida to be true.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS sorry that was your experience up here. Just know that we're all not like that. You're right many here are arrogant and have this superiority complex.
This is exactly what happened in the keys after Irma. It brought in all types of undesireable contractors and lots of residents moved away. Key west has totally changed sincé the planes came in in the middle of the night dropping off migrants. We have a huge amount of hatians and central americans here now. Worst part is the uptick in arrest in Monroe county. We have our share of criminals here and now we have alot more from all over. Homicide was rare here but now seems to be a more common crime. I check arrest reports every day. I'm totally digging your channel. I'm subscribing to watch more.

I live there 10 years ago it was the same way I lived straight shot from the hospital on the corner of South and Jackson Streets and certain people among the homeless population would keep areas some are under control they don't want their area to have attention and trouble that's what draws the police there and shines a light on whatever they may be doing so there's no reason in America that people should be living in conditions like that the government should do more for their people after all if they help the people and got them on a different path and put them to work they could be an asset to the community but instead they just throw them in jail over and over again that's just cruel and unusual just somebody that's obviously have issues and they need help 10 years ago a couple saw me sitting outside of Chinese place by Publix write down by those tall buildings near the river I was hoping to get money for some food and a fix they took me home bought me clothes got me on the methadone clinic helped me and helped wean me off alcohol I probably would have ended up dadar in prison for life if it weren't for them Kate and Marcus wherever you are I love you

Ft Myers biggest problem it has no industrial base to support middle class jobs. The only jobs are service jobs to support the Snow Birds and retirees.

Florida is a keystone State, but it does get concerning with the damage you see and recovery rates. We can look at Louisiana, New Orleans, there are major major problems with infrastructure there and it's uncertain the future there. The amount of money that is needed there to even begin to repair and rebuild the roads and sidewalks there alone... they just don't have the revenue to do it properly. It would cost a fortune, and it's in rough shape.

I keep n going back to the video you did about how fort myers beach should be rebuilt yet don’t see much movement to change things there for the future. Fort Myers was quiet. Now they have built huge luxury apartment complexes no one can afford. SWF is a job dead zone. Has been a long time nothing holding people there no industry
Hi. Lots of us make our living here in SW Florida. I’d like to see a positive video by you. Do you think we could meet and share ideas about what’s still going on? I’d love to meet. Susan
I should be lucky I bought a condo for $73,000 back in 2014 and still make money. Getting harder now as property insurance premiums keep rising to unprecedented levels mostly due to the two things that contribute to this. Natural disasters (hurricanes a major reason), and hardcore inbound moves as there are people who still see Florida as their dream state to move to thus increasing the cost of living and higher taxes.
Jose you said it yourself on another video hat you did of Ocala. When people from other place for cheaper housing... that the fastest way for a town to go to shit! A cop also told me that Fort Myers is a rest stop for drug trafficking from Tampa to Miami. Now the drug lords are claiming territory in fort Myers!
That’s absolutely the dumbest thing i have ever herd. Arrest reports nor drug apprehensions would suggest that. More drugs come in thru SWFL than Miami.

Hey man I like the videos but you repeat yourself way too much sometimes I think I accidentally backed up the video because you’ll say the same exact sentence 4-5 times great content maybe just cut out the parts where you repeat yourself much love .
2 major things happened that I can remember. 1. Oxyxontin did a number on the people, and the clinics/ pill mills changed the landscape economically and socially and for 2. Its never been the same since the recession/ credit crash back in 2009-2010. These and the old retired people who used to make up the biggest part of the population died off and the "original" florida homes went out of fashion and became rentals which are neglected. That and the population boom.

I SEE A PATTERN! You and your wife travel to different towns, outside of yours and criticize them; usually showing the worst part of town and provide a subjective viewpoint (always negative). EVERY TOWN/ CITY has a blighted areas…unfortunately some more than others. WHAT HAPPENED TO FT MYERS? A category 5 ripped through this coastal town in September 2022 and destroyed half of it. It is still recovering and has a ways to go in rebuilding, but they are doing it! You filmed a small portion in Ft Myers, probably anyone that sees your video and doesn’t know FM like I do will believe that FM is as blighted as you portray it. Well…. It’s not! You also ripped apart Miami. Has it changed since 2007? Yes…. Extremely. Actually Miami is unrecognizable compared to what it was in 2007. But Miami is a growing, vibrant city where the MINORITY IS THE MAJORITY! And its awesome to see a city built by the blood and sweat of many migrants - they have turned their dreams into what Miami is today. It is not perfect, but it is thriving. You know this very well because I believe you stated you were originally from Miami.
As someone that is 4th generation to Fort Myers. This is a bad take on the reasoning why it's like this, and everything you are showing is the north side which was not the best places for pretty much the past 30 years. It's inland and old, anytime a place gets dates the income level goes down down down. I remember since the time of Hurricane Andrew shysters coming down trying to get work uninsured and fly by night then jacking there prices up after quoting. A lot of elderly to take advantage of....
all the homeless i ever seen are from BOSTON, NY, NJ, OH CT, OK, AL, LA, KS i ask them all when i met them. Chicago too. i have NEVER ran into a miami homeless over here.

Hurricane Irma in 2017 was very bad but Hurricane Ian last year was hundreds of times worse. But SWFL can still recover no matter how long it takes for everything in Fort Myers to recover.

I mean, yeah there was a sketchy part of where I went to college at Ringling in Sarasota... but I never imagined it would be this wide spread. I know I'm rambling here, lol. I'm just glad I got the hell out of there in 2017.
I know one major problem is that there weren't a whole lot of good paying jobs outside of retail or some kind of trade (which you'd have to go to school for- and people couldn't afford going to school and working at the same time.
*I left FL for many reasons. People from the west side of the city ask why did I leave and.. dude, I don't think they'd get it. And this crime going up just adds to it. I'm trans/queer.. like real shit I just look like a late 90s grunge band front man now.. and seeing all the crazy anti-glbt laws on TOP of the Baltimore-like crime.. dude I'll pass. But I returned for family, and I couldn't handle the heat. And after all these vids I'm kinda.. better off in Maryland.. I mean sure I gotta play it street smart back at least I wouldn't have to deal with the political drama.
Excellent video you pinpointed everything right.

Yeah they need to elect a Dummycrat and turn it into California..it will be better then...

The hurricane made this way worse down there. The area was already struggling im sure.
I think buy than it will he baton rouge louisiana

Riverside was just a pretty area its gone now. 😢

I lived and worked in FM for 18 years and I can say how it has changed for the worse. The areas of Lehigh, San Carlos, MFM and Palm Beach Blvd has always been a shit hole going back to the 90's. Even Cape Coral is now becoming a shit hole Run for the hills...get out now!
It's not only Lee County. The entire country has turned into a sewer. It's the generation born after 1972.
My son lives there. I noticed rent is nearly what Denver Metro's rental market. Wages are 1/3 lower.
FM is insane and it sucks
@11:55 Who does this describe more than "Car and Truck People"?
I'm from Massachusetts and I visit my grandmother in Englewood every year. I'm sorry to say this but I'm not a fan of Florida. I find that many people, not all are arrogant and they size me up before I can even start talking. It's like they know that I'm a Yankee and it doesn't make me feel welcome. Many places I've gone to with my grandmother I've heard people be openly racist and constantly talking about politics, almost all Trumpers. I could never live in Florida. My grandmother wants me to move here but I hate it. Videos like this just confirm everything I already thought about Florida to be true.
If you think Florida is bad don’t even try walking into Alabama… i found mass to be rude and racist and arrogant themselves

This video should definitely be presented to the chamber of commerce.

What's going to happen when all the migrants who work in construction leave Florida? I have seen the videos and the cleanup and repair after a hurricane is usually immense.

Drugs-Drugs and more Drugs. That leads to good people who are worth anything leaving. Then you have what's left.
Pennsylvania is THEE Keystone State
Yea, PA is Keystone State.. Stop telling lies.
I WONDER if it's our state leaders spreading hate and divisiveness in our beautiful state? That's THE BIGGEST change that could do this, no?

I keep n going back to the video you did about how fort myers beach should be rebuilt yet don’t see much movement to change things there for the future. Fort Myers was quiet. Now they have built huge luxury apartment complexes no one can afford. SWF is a job dead zone. Has been a long time nothing holding people there no industry
We never really got too far ahead there. Bradenton sarasota seams more obtainable with less traffic better acess to beaches and less nuts
Hi. Lots of us make our living here in SW Florida. I’d like to see a positive video by you.
Do you think we could meet and share ideas about what’s still going on? I’d love to meet. Susan
I barely have time to visit my family let alone strangers. I worked in SWFL for over 20 years nothing you can tell me about living there
Understood.
Both wrong. #1 is insurance companies controlling your politicians
Sad...😢
Jose you said it yourself on another video hat you did of Ocala. When people from other place for cheaper housing... that the fastest way for a town to go to shit!
A cop also told me that Fort Myers is a rest stop for drug trafficking from Tampa to Miami. Now the drug lords are claiming territory in fort Myers!
That’s absolutely the dumbest thing i have ever herd. Arrest reports nor drug apprehensions would suggest that. More drugs come in thru SWFL than Miami.

Just came from there… it’s like paradise compared to Philadelphia

Wide spread problem across many cities. Remove the drug supply and the homeless and crime will move from there to another venue.
Unpopular opinion: those who lost their nice houses on the island and near the beach deserved Irma and everything that came to them.
