    Comments on spraying...drone for praying. Second harvesing,the thought of using portable multiple conveyors to more fruit to the end rows into tubs/boxes, which could be designed to be moved from row to row?..just a thought from a Florida citrus grower rethinking high density citrus.

    the more I watch these apple videos, I can see why apples are over a dollar a piece which made me grow my own trees, just the trellis system materials, labor ect really drives up the cost of a nickel apple

    Nice multileader system! Which rootstocks did you use for apple? If i try using this multileader system for mm106 rootstock? 3m between trees x 4 m between rows? 8 leaders? Keep up this nice work!

    I have a big problem with deer causing destruction in my orchards. Can you please share your methods of dealing with these pests ? Sincerely ,Eva

    • @aaronirish7841
      @aaronirish7841 Před 6 lety +2

      Hi Eva. If possible on your area you can invite hunters on your land to hunt the deer during hunting season to reduce their pressure. You can also buy Wolf Urine and spread it around the area where you think they come in. One smell of that and that and they flee. On that line you might also consider dogs like german sheppards. They'll keep the deer away if you let them patrol the area. Nothing will stop deer except predators.

    the orchards look ecologically sterile, I wonder on the nutrient levels on them

    • @tesha199
      @tesha199 Před 2 lety

      They are crap in nutritional value for sure. No soil that is sprayed with chemicals can produce healthy fruits.

    An interesting video, but I can't help but feel that this is attempting to squeeze production efficiency out of an industry that is heading towards major disruption in the next decade or so anyway. With genetic sequencing getting cheaper it's only a matter of time before biotech firms are able to catalogue the genes which influence disease resistance, fruit characteristics, growth form, biennial tendencies etc. By the time these orchard systems shown are seeing widespread take up in NZ, things like pesticide sprays for example could well be a thing of the past.

      Get different varieties of apples,
      Hope you dont have just a single variety.
      They need to cross polinate. There are only a few variety of apple that do self polinate some what.
      This is the most logical problem that comes to my mind.
