The Quivering (1998) - Ways to Die

- Most, if not all, of the death scenes in the Quivering, a 1998 point-and-click adventure game (and the sequel to Spud!) where you try to deal with the shenanigans of a demon your uncle accidentally summoned before being transformed into a raven. This video was a suggestion by Jeff Cotten as there wasn't a more complete video of the deaths uploaded.
It's... not a very good game. It's not the worst adventure game I've played but it definitely has a number of annoying features. Imps are used to solve puzzles and save - you're largely forced into playing slots for more in hell (which kills you rather often so the resource you're collecting in order to save more gets wasted every few wins). Fortunately some respawn in the early game to prevent unwinnable states. Spud's lethargic voicing is also a real detriment to the game.

3:12 Try to take the mushroom without the gas mask
3:33 Try to leave the basement without killing the zombie under the stairs
4:09 Hide in the left suitcase
4:29 Hide in the center suitcase
4:43 Don't escape Jason's room
4:58 Don't drive away from Jason
5:12 Try to take the vampire's fangs while he's in his coffin
5:39 Take too long to paddle through the swamp (all the cutscenes leading to death)

One of my favorites is getting mutilated by Jason's chainsaw. It's hilarious how when you successfully escape from him by starting up the car, he says "Bummer..."
In the actual Friday the 13th series, Jason never used a chainsaw in his kills.
That honor belonged to Leatherface of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series.
Another favorite of mine is screwing up the pyramid mirror puzzle and you and the pyramid get obliterated in a massive and explosive laser light show.

The only thing I'm uncertain of is whether the people who programmed this game have ever been committed to a mental hospital?
This video made me want to watch an entire playthrough of this game, and after doing so, I've gotta say that the first half is actually pretty cool and has that perfect uncanny vibe (unusual graphics also help with this), and the mix of various monsters is done well. The second half (for me it begins from the amusement park) is definitely less interesting, and compared to the first half it's pretty lackluster (the player also mentioned in the description that slot machine BS wasn't fun), and the ending also sucked. Kind of a bummer, but oh well, at least I've enjoyed my snacks and cola for the first 2 hours, lol
I'd agree that the game was better before the amusement park. To make it worse you have to have imps to save and you need to gamble for more imps. That part was pretty annoying.

Thanks for uploading! Sorry you had to go through it, I use Dosbox SVN Daum because it allows for save states which takes care of the imps being used for saves somewhat. Admittedly this has some cool and fun ways to die though. Love the shout-out to Evil Dead II in the 9:33 death.
Ah, it wasn't that bad and the end result is worth it. I just think there's some serious flaws with the game itself.
Should probably have Spud! done tomorrow. I'm surprised that it's bloodier than this game, when the main character is older and this is a sequel.

I have been looking for this sound effect at 13:21. I can't seem to find it anywhere, and I have heard it multiple times before. Does anyone know where this is from?

At the least, I can say it was a free sound effect that was available on a lot of old sites, back around the time this game came out. I've heard it sampled in songs and everything with no credit given, so I doubt it's from an old movie.
Often, free sound effects would just come from some guy who owned some audio equipment and recorded some clips for fun, so I'd bet it came from an obscure source like that.
