Gosh dang, your videos have me craving! The EMM for our motor is coming back this week. My brother and I haven't had the chance to do our share of winter crappie, and pre-spawn fishing this year. I'm excited to go out this weekend and catch some slabs! I really enjoy your videos too. I can't find many videos where there's just 15-20 minutes of landing some nice fish. Those Bobby Garland shad are for sure my favorite this time of year! I'm a fan of the Kalin's grub once it gets a bit warmer. As well as the Bobby Garland Slab Slay'R's.

Richard, what is the best way to keep your catch fresh while fishing? Sometimes I see you put them in an ice chest with water, other times in a bucket with frozen water bottles. Do you ever keep a catch live on a stringer? Do you ever bleed your catch while out on the water before they expire?
I would love if you would address all the different ways of holding your harvest, and the pro/cons of each .... "in your opinion", of course. 😁👍

absolutely love your videos and would love to know more about the rods you are using I had mine custom built out of a fly rod blank so the rods are extremely light action i have no trouble casting jigs as light as 1/80 of an ounce(Very Very small)however i really like the length of the ones you are using are they custom made or are they commercially available..thanks again for the great videos keep up the awesome job...

black crappie is a species just like white crappie is too I catch crappie with that coloration at all times of the year
That is True Chris. I also catch white and black crappie all times of year. During spawn/pre spawn both white/ black male crappie do get darker in coloration. Thank you for watching Chris!
Richard, how do you tell the difference between a male and female crappie. We live on Guntersville and fish there a lot and I would rather throw back the female so we can keep the population up. Thanks for sharing all your videos and knowledge, you are fun to watch, thanks for keeping it clean so my son can watch too. Godspeed.
In the spring, because of spawn, I can tell the deference. The males turn very dark and the females remain a lighter color. When you squeeze the belly of a male he will actually pee, a female wont. This is only during spawn though. Any other time of year I can't tell. But I wouldn't worry about it to be honest, I have read many times on studies showing that crappie can not be over harvested by anglers. Lake's go through good and bad years as far as fishing though. I don't believe you can overfish crappie or hurt population my belief is you need to catch and keep allot to keep them from overpopulating just my opinion but it's pretty much a fack from research I have done thanks

With you fishing from your boat I guess you would adjust to the bank where the wind is blowing into your face and cast into it? Let me know sir.
