  • I needed a golf simulator I could fold away so I could still use the garage in winter. Let me know if you have any questions about the build!
    Simulator & Software: Flight Scope Mevo + (flightscope.co..., GSPro Software for playing courses, Flight Scope software for training and drills.
    Laptop: HP OMEN I5 4050 16.1"(2023) - had the required capability to run GSPro and 50% off at Best Buy.
    Screen Frame: 12x9 Frame with 3 inches extra for screen, Foam (a.co/d/glJeRjj) cut to 2-3 inches and attached to frame using zip ties. Frame attached to concrete floor using Tapcon 3/8-in x 4-in Concrete Screws Anchors. Also attached to back wall and ceiling for stability.
    Screen: Carl's Place 12x9 Premium with Flaps (shop.carlofet..... There is about 18 inches to the wall behind. Flaps attached to netting using Velcro (a.co/d/bLjtCCq). Screen attached to frame using Carl's Place 6-inch Black Ball Bungees and Hillman 1-1/2-in W x 1-1/2-in H x 8-ft L Zinc-Plated Steel Perforated-Slotted Angle (Lowes).
    Netting: Net (a.co/d/dShRHwp), Curtain Rail - 8ft (a.co/d/65CyDUR)
    Main Platform - 12x10: 4x2 with 3/4 Plywood, 1 inch gym mats (a.co/d/65SdBeF), Turf - 12x15 (a.co/d/66xJAyW), nail gun used to secure mat and turf to ply, Platform attached to screen frame using hinges (a.co/d/6ibAq23).
    Hitting Platform: 5x12: Same as main platform but gym mat and turf cut to fit in hitting Mat: 4x9 (shop.carlofet...., wheels x4 (a.co/d/6fGTjER). I have added another platform (12 inches wide x 8ft long) behind the hitting platform to sit the simulator on to keep a level area from simulator to hitting zone for better accuracy.
    Winch System: (www.grainger.c...) Attached to eye bolts (Lowes - National Hardware 1/2-in x 6-in Galvanized Interior/Exterior Coarse Thread Eye Bolt - 2,200lbs SWL). I would recommend something more like this if I were to do it again: (www.grainger.c....
    Projector: BenQ TH690ST 4LED Short Throw Gaming Projector (a.co/d/j1iPP2s), Ceiling Mount (a.co/d/c6Xbsnk). I would get a long throw projector if I did it again to move it further back from hitting area.

    I like the minimalist space saving garage golf simulator idea. Just need to find a place to really invest in now lol

    Amazing job! Can you please detail the build? This is exactly what I’m needing to do.

      Thanks! IT was fun figuring it out! I added some comments in the description but happy to answer more questions! I used a few different setups for inspiration to create this one. czcams.com/video/YLTVi-KWhFE/video.html

    Been toying around with this idea, glad to see someone else has done it already haha. How heavy is the floor portion? I hadn't even considered a winch and was just going to pulley/pick it up my self

    • @jamesmurray5469
      @jamesmurray5469  Před měsícem

      Its probably 600lbs at a rough guess with 15 x 12ft 2x4's and 4 x 4x8 3/4 inch plywood... a little more than I could lift by myself! Pulley is probably another easy option to do. Let me know what you decide to do!

    How tall are is your garage ceiling for reference?

    Nice! Is there something behind the screen to protect the wall?

    • @jamesmurray5469
      @jamesmurray5469  Před 4 měsíci +1

      There is 18 inches of space and no need to protect the wall. Doesn't come close to hitting the wall!

    Hi - Amazing design. I can't seem to connect to the links for the wheel casters you have on the hitting platform, or the one for the hinges on the floor. Can you share those again??

    I’m in the process of doing a very similarly setup! How do you like how your cables are setup? It’s just 1 cable ran through 3 pulleys and hooked to a fixed eyelet or something on the top right?

    • @jamesmurray5469
      @jamesmurray5469  Před 3 měsíci

      Its honestly the one part I don't like and think there's a better solution. I've birdnested the winch wire a few times and snapped the eye bolt once (because it wasn't screwed down low enough and not on a 45 degree angle). I've adjusted the bolt now and its working better and I just need to make sure its not birdnested before I move it. I don't move it up and down that much if I don't have to. Let me know if you come up with a better idea/design!

      @@jamesmurray5469 Idk I’ve brainstormed a few ideas and yours looks the easiest to install! A pipe running up high and behind with a cable running down each side similar to a garage door. is probably the best solution but requires more money parts and time!

      @johnlangabeer9299 Před měsícem

      Can you run a rope and a counter weight on the right side to help counter the weight of the main floor when you rub the wench back up?

    • @grindano
      @grindano Před měsícem

      @@johnlangabeer9299 well you can but it will only help to a certain distance. The rope has the travel the length of the angled rope or hypotenuse and the vertical distance the weight would be on is less than that . Basically the weights would hit the floor before it was all the way up

      That's been my goal/discussion with the wife all winter! Luckily here in Minnesota we had a pretty mild winter so only had to fold it up twice!
