Man, I love this channel. Takes me back to hanging around the garage with my father, 40 plus years ...Dad was a master mechanic and a class a machinist, and if he couldn't find a part for some old car he was restoring, he'd make it. He worked on cars from age 11, up until he passed, age 80. It was his hobby and passion. Dereck twists on it and says Bring the thunder! My dad said, Come on...Start, dammit! Always made me laugh. I'm a 62 year old woman who still loves the smell of motor oil and solvent. I miss my dad. VGG is the best. Subscribed for life.
My memories with my grandpa and my dad are all in the garage working on something. No sports memories, only working in the garage or working on something elsewhere. Those were the days. I still love the smell of oil and solvent as well!
When you typed " come on...start dammit ! " so many memories came flooding back. I too, am in my 60's and we lost Pop in '09 to the "C" word. But just seeing that phrase, thank you so much. Take care and God Bless from Florida.
God bless your family
Its funny you say that, Mt brother in law and his brother are big into classic cars, one is a cnc operator, the other a machinist, he needed a brake drum for a 1940 Chrysler coupe, theybcouldnt find one, so they made one, they've made all kinds of really cool stuff, its currently an inline 6 running on 3 single barrel carbs on a hand built intake manifold.
@@Spawn-td8bf We lost my dad to the c word almost 5 years ago, and I can still hear him say, come on ..start, dammit!
Been waiting on this truck for awhile. Best channel on CZcams. Keep up the work VGG
That's it...im staying not going to town tonight. Thanks
@@ronconrad3507 hell yeah, just got some candy gonna watch and relax!
Thank you
Yup, every videos it’s in the background.
I can't your back to work on the old crew cab guess I got to I'm looking right at it.
I subscribe to a lot of automotive channels and somehow they all go from the cars and trucks to a vlog of what that person does everyday. I appreciate this channel so much because it's about the cars and will always be about the cars. Don't ever change Derek. Guys like me need this channel lol
I was here when you and Jessica started taking her apart - & I think you said this was going to take a minute or 3. But in the meantime, there was so much goodness happening for a fella's family that the family square did end up on the back burner. No complaints from me, I'm ready when you are...you install the parts, and I will enjoy a cold snack 😁👍
Family rig has to be safe. Been a follower since the beginning. Keep up the great content when ya can
Coming together very nicely. Very sharp looking kit.
Thanks for watching
Man, he's good!! Nobody could do all that work, but Derek, 17 minutes and 44 seconds. Man he's GOOD!!!
that's cute that you think it only took 17 minutes lol
I should know, I had one of the fastest Modification production cars in East Tennessee back in the 60's. Never got beat but once. A fellow was watching me build a 350 Chevy engine once, he said, I didn't know you could do that. I told him, there's a lot you don't know about me. Same with you Jimmy. Derek knew it was a good laugh. That's what matters.
All humor aside, I love the way you explain things and show people how to work on cars. A true inspiration.
Ooh! Square body! People hauler flavor!? I'll be dipped!!! Glad to see this rig getting some more love after eleventy million niner years. Great content as always Mr. B
Can't wait to see this beautiful truck restored. Then you can take it out to events and enjoy cruising there and back. Thanks...could use a VGG video today. 👍
All that chrome can drive a feller or fellette kinda bonkers....that's fine.
It never gets old all the comments love it especially the tork wrench
She's lookin purty now. Watched every step you published on this vehicle. Thanks Derrick & family for keeping us updated.
I was looking at that beauty in the background just the other day wondering when it's day would come.
Really pleased for you and looking forward to this episode.
Thanks vgg.
What a unit… can’t wait to see this thing going… awesome family cruiser
This is such a cool square body. I’m glad to see it moving forward. Tomorrow I’m going over to work on my dads ‘48 F1. Putting an electric cooling fan with thermostatic control and going to set him up with a working horn. Well I’ll be dipped! 😂
Awesome
You have my wrench!
Hah! we actually keep that briefcase sized HF tool kit sitting next to our plasma table at work and refer to it as Mr. Pink's toolbox.
Love seeing the square body on the channel again
So glad to see you back on the family SBCC. I also like the one bite at a time approach.
Loved the shop cat and you talking to him/her. And the pudding phone call was hilarious !
Finally! Excited to see this one back at the front of the assembly line.
Can’t wait to see the truck fully restored!
That's going to be an awsome ,take the family to town rig.👌👍👍
Long term projects are always the most satisfying when you start taking bites. Keep up the awesome work; we’ll be right there with ya.
The main reason I watch your channel is for your unique system of automotive terminology. Yeah, your bride is nice to look at, too. I can admire her looks and her dedication to you and yours at the same time.
Gosh I love these square bodies, she's going to be a unit to be proud of for sure.
a long-awaited video for this truck so stoked you're back to work on it definitely be looking forward to seeing videos
Saturday morning complete, sit and watch the latest VGG video before a guy has to go earn a crust..
Love this build cant wait to see more of that amazing interior 👌
finally! now I know why I like this channel so much, its the “Red Green” and “This Old House” sound and feel to it, the nostalgia of watching those shows with my dad is what keeps me coming back
I know it feels great to work at home in your own garage. I just did an intake on my brother’s C7 after installing new shop lights and upgrading some tools. It made the job so much more fun working in comfort. 👍🏽👌🏽
A feller is really impressed, you fixed your brothers c7 vertebrae with a new light and a Dremel tool!?!? Dang it, I gotta pick up my game!! IMMpressive sir!!!
(just joking around, an intake on a C7 vette? How was that? I imagine a little tight?
@@johnobrien9718 Lol! Lights were new, and dremel was old. I did use a new screwdriver and ratcheting wrench set. 😂 Thankfully he didn’t buy a cheap kit. Took me about 30 minutes to install and no modifications were needed.
Thanks for taking the time to make such awesome videos!
Come a long way in 3 years vgg, this is a testament to anybody if you put hard work and effort into it you can achieve what you want in life.
A fellers 16 Year old son got him watching. Now he is hooked! Thank you!
Wow i been wondering if and how long a fella gotta wait to see that vehicle get done i know its gonna be a beast i know you been busy we all been waiting let the build begin 👍🇺🇲
I’ve been looking forward to seeing this truck finished and pulling Independence for a long long time. Glad you’re doing it top notch for the safety of your family. I knew you would.
Another great Friday night watch during a cold snack !
You inspired me to do my own car stuff on CZcams. I've always tinkered with and fixed my own cars, mainly because I'm too tight to pay a professional 😂 You've stayed so close to your roots with this channel its commendable. Thanks, another fan.
I'm a square body guy deep in the bones. You take your time big guy, do it right
Ecstatic to see the Crew Cab back, appreciate all of your family's hard work to produce quality content, love the fact that you're going the methodical route with this build!
Excellant mind set Derek!!!!
Your family's safety is your # 1 priority!!!!
YES!! Go through this thoroughly, paying attention to the small details & larger details!!!! We have all, become too much in a hurry!!! I always told my bosses, " you want it done fast, or right?". You cannot have both!!!
Love how you’re using the air tanks so the compressor doesn’t go off during filming. A guy is getting pro-tips all over the place haha
The best beast of a going to town rig right there🤘
So glad to see ya get back on the square!
This crew cab is how i found the channel. Glad to see it coming back for some more attention.
Yes take your time and enjoy the build itself.
Find an electrical power steering pump (for Independence)it solves a lot of problems used heaps in drift/skids cars here in Australia
Nice! I'm excited you're bringing the crew cab back around! Can't wait for the upcoming videos on it!
Out of all the project vehicles on this channel, this is the one I'm most intrigued by. Can't wait for more!
These videos and the will it make it rescues are the videos I really enjoy. Thanks.
Great to see you back on the crew cab; a feller just loves that rig. Keep wrenching, I'm really enjoying the progress.
So excited for this!! Between deposit, you and if I dare say so myself.. Me 🤣🤣 we have the crewcab stable covered on the CZcamss!!
Even the short videos are gold!
Man Derek my wife and if enjoy watching your content together and truly appreciate the fact you made this a fellers fulltime gig because it's exciting as heck when i get notifications from ol VVG! And occasionally VGL, but ya know a guy can only gather up so much outdoor content during the winter...im sure once it warms up we are in store for a treat! Keep up the good work man...much love from Ashland City TN!
Love this project! Keep it coming
Can't wait to see it running!
A slick kit! Like how everything mounts to the cast water pump and lines up properly. No washers or spacers, not a bunch of metal brackets all rednecked together. A feller needs a good going to town rig when he brings his family with him. Slick I tell ya.
nice to see you finally made to the point where you can take the time to enjoy your self at what you know how to do
I guy just loves your content 💪🏻 cant wait to see more! Hug from Portugal!
What's been takin a guy so long!? Love the videos brother!
So relaxin for a guy to watch I’ve miss you working on it more please
So glad to see this truck on the channel again!
Those shiny parts look great on the engine but isn’t it a lot of work keeping them looking good. Great video as always 👍👍
Nahhhhhh!!!! It’s easy.. you just close the hood!!! It’s a Chevy so you shouldn’t have to open it very often
Thats what Sundays are for.
Best channel on the tubes! Thank you for all of what you do! Pretty sure you related just haven’t figured out how?
I hope this show never loses it's charm that made it so popular by producers and people with ideas to "make it better"
Thanxs for the simple install vid.
I"m going to pick up one of these to add to mine 326!
If a guy dosent have a wobble pop you needa get one🍺
I noted on this & thanks Derek for making this video as it really shows on how all the brackets from yesterday year has been replaced with a one piece block type assembly for alternator, powers steering pump & air conditioner pump, but was not too clear on the water pump. By the way ?What do You mean by "pipe tubes?" Is that the headers Your referring to?
Yessir I do believe he was referring to the headers.
What a beautiful peace of art, and of course, are the artist!!!!!
Good to see you again Derek take care hope you an your family are doing great buddy
its really coming along. that chrome really looks great. what's your estimate on horsepower and torque on that engine?
425/385
My Grandpa had a crewcab just like yours when I was 14 I parked it in the wheat feild that we where harvesting on a hill top Gramps forgot about it being there back into it with the combine and it rolled multiple times down the hill I felt very bad but he took full responsibility loved that man.
Fun to watch you work, Derek. Your knowledge and expertise are invaluable. Gives a guy inspiration to go out to his shop and tinker some more with his 57-year-old MGB. The Vintage Air equipment is most impressive. Easy to see why it is so popular. Looks great and, from what I hear, works great. Thanks for the Vintage Air tour. Time to get go to work.
I really liked the shorter video for small updates like this. Always love the 1 hr+ revivals, but these are perfect for small updates in between big videos. Really glad to see work being done on the square body too. I've been looking forward to the interior since you first talked about it
Thanks Bud
Looking good. Bin looking forward to o seeing more of this one. 👌
Learn something new nearly every time on here. Thanks Derek!
A guy can't complain about any of your videos but these short ones are nice that it doesn't take 3 days to watch it. Keep it up
That was a good looking kit. Thank You for taking me along.
A guy couldn't help but notice the big ol' drumset in the back corner. Very nice!
Alright, Derek, a fella is trying to watch what's going on in your video, and @ the 7:00 minute mark, you show me 2 sets of black drums in the far area of the shop !?! I'm a drummer from way back, and I'm thinking that I remember you playing those in your video a while ago. A fella is not gonna forget that, you know !! I'll try to stay focused on the rest of your video, but a guy just can't ignore that stuff. It's like when you're driving, and a 68 Camaro goes by you -- you just can't forget that your peepers saw those !! Oh, by the way, that shiny stuff came out beautifully !! Great job, man !!
I really liked the background music while Derek was working. It reminded me of watching stuff like Shadetree Mechanics or Goss' Garage when I was growing up.
I also love your channel Derek. I love the v8 I'm also a mechanic. Over 50 year's retired now. But still love working on old car's. Now days you open the what you call the hood. and just shake your head. Good luck mate with the rest of the build. Paddy from Ireland.
Once again a great episode! Always fun to hang with Derek while he's wrenchin and talkin...I feel right at home. This channel is something really special and I feel honored to be dragged along. Goin on 3 years now! Perfect!
Finally the squarebody returns, my 11 year old son is working on one, reg short 2wd, great father son project
What the... posted 31 minutes ago, already 180 comments. A fella's gotta be quick around here. Another great video, thanks Derek.
As usual a great episode. What a surprise to here a guy on the local radio channel.Way to be the high point of a fellers day .Thanks .Kinda Hoping you could be a regular call in .Keep up the great work .
awesome to see her back
Finally getting some work done on this truck. Glad u are taking the time to do it right. Being a family going to town rig.
LOVE IT!! Not a bit concerned it wasn’t a revival! Still the best content on CZcams
Squarebody crewcabs are my favorite. So I appreciate the time and quality you’re putting into this mo-sheen. And it’s better to take this one slow since the family is going to be riding shotgun and spare shotgun on long trips.
Thanks 🙏 so much, for being a true inspiration. I hope to see you at Bristol one day. It’s only an hour or so, away from my homestead. Blessings D and family.
These are the episodes that inspire a guy to think about buying and restoring something with a little time and elbow grease
Im glad your taking your time with this one.
Nice too see you back on that, and doing it right! Thanks for sharing
I do like the square body crew cab, no doubt about it. But gosh darn that Firebird on the lift in metallic lightening blue always puts a smile on my face. All be it, an envious one. Love your videos and hope to see more to come for as long as you can manage it.
I love the hour long videos but this will have to do for now lol.. great little video 📹 👍
Hey Buddy! been wrenching since the 70's and love your presentations. One if my many vehicles will be100 years old next year. Keep up the good work!
I've never seen a guy so gentle and focused 🔧
A guy needs to watch a few Bob Ross vidyas to bring ya right around.
It’s so nice to see ya taking yer time and enjoying a build.
I was just speaking with my Mrs. about this truck last evening and wondered when in the world you would change up your background set up… and here you are! Good work! Great show!
I’m glad the crew cab is getting some love!!!
Just wanted you too know, I love your channel and the family and I pray for great things for you 🙏
