The problem with England is that they are too negative. France didn’t score that many goals but they probably had 5, 6 or even 7 times the shots on goal that England has had.
I can see us beating Holland. But I can’t see us beating Spain. That was a excellent performance by Spain pace movement skill dangerous side. France weren’t at there best mbappe disappointing. Spain very dangerous in the final 3rd but France weren’t.

I think Southgate has been very lucky with easy draws and tactically is never going to be a top manager, but has done a few things right - harbour a great spirit (which was missing during the 'golden generation'), prepare properly for penalties, and make it fun and less heavy to wear the shirt.
However, it's probably time for someone to come in and take it to another level now.

Netherlands came back from 1-0 behind against Poland and Turkey and dominated while trying to equalize and win. They kept France on 0-0. Crushed Romania. Created a huge amount if big and small chances (and yes also missed a lot of them).... Teamspirit kept growing. England can certainly win. Sure. But NL wil also get many chances and will definitely score one or two. I wouldn't give England more than 50 percent, especially since the rest of the (more neutral and lessser emotionally involved) world think England will probably not advance

"Big Tone" is absolutely bang on...the Dutch are nothing special. Gakpo is okay, but he's no left winger and has little to no raw acceleration so has no chance of troubling Walker. Depay is rubbish with his ridiculous head band. Does little to nothing in the game. The only time the Dutch look dangerous is when they bring on Weghorst and start lumping it in to the big man because most defenses have never seen that before. But that style was invented in England so it will be bread and butt'a for England's backline. Who else is there? Virgil Van Dijk is way past his best and in midfield without Frankie De Jong it's all very average. Again, "Big Tone" is right and not afraid to say it, whereas this lot on TalkSport are scared that saying it out loud might cause their team to lose. Like they have some kind of power over the result. Madness.
