Yeah🎉
The spin around she does when he hits that high note will never get old, arguably one of the best scenes in the movie.
Hey I see this movie all the time and I want to be in one and my birthday is coming soon
@@isismartinez9125 sending you an early Happy Birthday!!🎂🎉 May all that you wish for come true.
Yeah, that spin around and the look on Whoopie's face was genuine. She had no idea he was going to do it. I love that moment too!

I read that his high note was not planned, and that was Whoopi's real reaction to it :D
That is so cool 😳
i heard that the director knew that he'd been practicing to hit that note but nobody else knew so that everybody's reaction was genuine.
@@twox5339 That's just wholesome. I love that scene, and it makes it even more special.
That makes it even better 🖤
Ohhh 😮 that make this movie all the more memorable!!🤩🥺
That high note was something I remember SO VIVIDLY from my childhood.
Yess
Me too😂😂😂 for a long time it was the only thing I remembered about the movie
Very 800wok dad 500hame bus400 game200bus400
Did you know no one knew he was going to hit that note? The reaction you see from the crowd is genuine
Text you copy will automatically show here
I still get chills from that high note
And tears
A perfect example of a prebubecent tenor hitting a super high falsetto Eb
He actually improvised that himself into the song. That's why Whoopi turned around with that face, and the crowd reaction was genuine since they weren't expecting it.
YES Tine too shit he blew the roof off the 🏢
Amazing ❤🎉🎉😂
how was he able to sing that high note so perfectly? I tried that for a whole week and i got well over 100 voice cracks
And yet he never get famous pfff
Jesus
Mais ensaio fica showww
He had help from our LORD.
Just play Ro Shambeau with someone and it'll happen buddy 😄
I was holding my breath in anticipation of the high note. Decades later it still gives me goosebumps!!
Yess
wow!
It still makes me shed a tear everytime the high note comes
Me toooooo 😊
Oki cool
This scene brings me tremendous joy everytime
Me too. But there is one plot hole that never got addressed. The lead girl was told by her mother to focus on her schoolwork. But this choir was, if I am not mistaken, schoolwork. Therefore, by prohibiting her daughter from participating, isn't she preventing her daughter from completing her assigned schoolwork as she was instructed by mama to focus on? Seems to me that she wasn't trying to chase her "coulda, shoulda, wouldas" as mama called it, she was trying to do her class assignment as mama told her to do. And if a kid joins the choir at church, are they chasing dreams, or are they worshipping God in a little bit of an extra way? And how many people set that choir work aside as soon as they are done with school and join the work force? Virtually all of them. This is really my only complaint about the film is that Sheryl Lee Ralph is playing a character that doesn't ring true in her position. Other than that, the film is a wonderful place to visit for a little while.
could you say it helps bring you a happy day?
@@heinleinreader Not to belittle your concern. But the mother would not see that class as school work. She saw it as an impediment to her daughters learning. My concern would have been. Why mom didn’t insist that her daughter drop the class.
@@briangallagher787 Did you ever notice that people always say "Not to belittle your concerns..." or some similar meaningless platitude right before they belittle and insult you? Would you care to try that again, but this time in human speak?
@@heinleinreader First how were you belittled or insulted by what I said?
Now since you seem to want me to be impolite. No problem. Apparently you are not a parent. Otherwise you would not have been stupid enough to think, the Mother would think of that class as anything other than an extra curricular activity. That’s why I was surprised she didn’t make her daughter quit the class.
Never getting over his entire performance.
Me too!!!
Despite being someone of a different faith, I've always enjoyed these movies and the first time I heard that high note, I smiled ear to ear and I still do
Me too!!!!!!!
Same. I’m an atheist and I adore these movies. Sing along with every song!
Faith has nothing to do with it, its just based in a cath setting, but it could be anyplace. You don't have to be mother saint Theresa to of enjoyed this movie. It was one of my favorites when I was young and I am a Catholic.
That high note made EVERYBODY want to attempt singing🤣🤣🤣
The way his tone got richer after starting the song again is just a mood changer 🔥🔥
I'll never forget when he hit that high note. Felt like the goodness and purity in his soul was unlocked. 🙌👏👏👏💖

Correct!!

That high note will never get old epic part of the movie the whoopee turnaround was perfect on point
To add... the producers kept it a secret from her about that young man. To keep that part genuine, they had him do it and it was never rehearsed. Her turnaround was very genuine as was the look on her face. :)
I heard when he hit that high note she really didn’t know he was going to do that so that was a natural reaction lol so from what I’ve heard
2:50 - My guess it was directed. The sound track added later. The young boy was not singing behind the Cameraman.
The actor said in an interview that they performed the song live during filming and everyone's reactions were genuine. Only a few people knew he was planning to hit that high note. They recorded the song with the high note and had it dubbed in in post, but they kept everyone's reactions in the film.
Beginning of the song
Superior mother : Not terrible. 10 points from Gryffindor.
Real beginning of the song
Superior mother : That's better. 15 points for Gryffindor.
Boy's high note
Superior mother : Tremendous. 50 points for Gryffindor.
It’s Mother Superior
😭😂
She is the most superior of mothers
Maggie Smith can do soooo much with just a look.
I love Whoopi’s reaction to the guy hitting the high note…
“Holy sh*t!” 😂
I still get the chills when they “start to party” but man that high note gives me shivers every single time!
He absolutely sang the chords out of that song!
I loved Sister Act and never grow tired of hearing them sing. AWESOME!!!!

That's what I really like about both Sister Act movies. The music and the singing. And how therapeutic and healing music and singing can be.
I love all the music in this movie. Listen to it over and over and never get sick of it.
Me too. One of the best
Hi
Henry1234545😊😊😊😊
What's amazing to me about this video is how very talented people can fake like they can't sing and with a little coaching belt out an awe inspiring performance.
That may be the hardest thing for a really good singer to do, is to sing poorly. For a group of them to do so, such as a choir, is damn near impossible. This took incredible coaching and much more practice than coaching them for singing it well as a group would.
still gives me chills in 2022
Still watching in 2022. A great movie and love the music.
❤❤❤
Love that so many of the reactions to his high note were real ❤
I'll never grow tired of this song! When he hit that high note I felt it! Such excitement in my soul!!

His music career didn't end and it's still going. He's a co writer for plenty of songs that are still modern
I have never found a better version of this song. The young man and the choir set the standard.
His high note still give me tears of happiness wen I hear
This part of the movie has always brought tears of joy for me i love singing and seeing how the song builds and his comfort levels build with it is what music is all about

I watched this movie for the first time yesterday and when he hit that high note I felt like my heart got caught in my throat just out of pure shock- I kept replaying this song over and over just out of how amazed I was by this and I absolutely adore this movie
Is it just me but after he hits that high note I LOVE when they show the monk whose facial expression is just the best!! I love this song. ❤
ah the infamous whistle note! I still get the chills hearing it, The story goes he practised it in secret, listening to Whitney Houston and there were only a very few people who know he could do it. That reaction was real!!!
WH could not sing whistle notes, so I doubt that.
I absolutely loved this movie! Whoopie and kids were fantastic!
They don't make movies like this anymore. This was Hollywood of course but everything is just really "hollywood" nowadays. Nothing is organic.

Possibly thee best musical performance ever. Granted it’s edited, but it’s honestly the most wholesome beautiful production ever, in a time without Instagram Snapchat etc
That note stuns me every single time I hear it.
This always gets me!!! I love this! 🥰
When that harmony kicks in at 1:33 I get goosebumps every time… 🔥🔥🔥

I loved that high note he added,❤️❤️❤️
At 2:50
Bro the high note was my fav after that I would sing and watch this movie everyday js to try and hit that high note lol still working
I'm 40, and these films still haven't gotten old yet!💜💜💜
I always love listening to this song because when I have a bad day everything seems so much better it is all about oh happy day and that is what makes my day happy
This film, its predecessor, and the church service/chasing Refa scene in the Babylon 5 episode "And The Rock Cried Out No Hiding Place". I also love the sax and piano work on Tender Years in Eddie and the Cruisers and Just a Matter of Time from Eddie and the Cruisers 2.

It’s fun to see the comments and see how many people also love this movie and still watch it and love the music. Never get tired of it
Years later, no matter how many times I hear this it still makes me very emotional.
I watched this movie when I was a kid, today when I'm in my 40's it still brings that joy of listening to it...
It’s like the one movie I can turn to ❤
Man that high note still does something to my soul 🥹
I just love how she does a kind of reset at the beginning to increase their confidence. Love that part!
Oh happy day❗🌸🗻🇯🇵

That HIGH F note is perfection!!!
I actually could not wait for this film to come out then I loved it then and still do, cant get enough. Wheather it was planned or not it was still brilliantly done and boy can those young people sing
We get it in Germany today
Still tears !! After all these years ❤️
It’s amazing how music can make a person feel something in their heart. Even if you feel lousy it can be so uplifting. That high note makes you feel so good
This movie will always be a Core Memory for my Soul 😊❤
Who knew this beautiful soul had a voice . Beautiful whoopi. Always be the lass who,Jumped for Jack Flash xx.Grt movie that makes me chuckle everytime I watch xx
I love ❤️ the 2 Sister Act movies. 🎬 I think the young adults look like like they are having while singing. The movie shows they have a hard life. This could be life's teaching us hard times are all around us but we raise our hearts and voices in song 🎵.
Wen I was a girl I use to crush on that Young Man...The one that sang oh happy day😍😍😍
One of best singing moments in movie history when he hit that note 100% Joy in this performance
I have looked for that clip for year, what a great voice😀
I still remember the very first time I ever heard Lauryn Hill when The Fugees first dropped, thinking, OMG, that's the girl from Sister Act 2. But not for long after that.
The Sister Act movies has always been one of my favorite movies, and this scene from Act2 is the best not just because this song was so excellently performed but because it carries the powerful evangelical message of God’s saving grace and vocalizes my personal testimony along with so many others that there is only one true “Happy Day” …but there’s another happy day on its way.
The start of the song, OH happy day...still gives me that same feeling I had when I first watched the movie when it came out. LA LA LA LA AAAAA LA LA LA ..."lol" I still sing along with it. "When my Jesus washed my sins away", "He taught me how " - love it.
The high note has the record for the most rewinds of the VHS era.
They need to make sister act 2 a musical as well
Still crying for this song everytime i hear it
Me too, beautiful song 🎶
Knowing that high note wasn’t planned and seeing Whoopi’s reaction is amazing , love how they kept it in the movie
I wish we had behind the scenes footage of this scene and everyone’s reaction
Praise GOD ❤️💯 for that high note
I am so glad that tubing has put both of the sister act movie on it lineup
I always know that high note is coming but every time i feel such joy!
"If you love this song as I do, you are my people". Quote by Michael the Archangel
I’m here for another Sister Act with Mr. High Note being the choir director!!!
The fact the high note was improvised still blows my mind
Sempre me arrepiar ouvindo está música bendito seja o nosso senhor e salvador Jesus Cristo
