Really love the analytical way of constructing basic figures. Tnx a lot! Very clear videos with great and useful comments. :)
Thank you! We try and make things easy to learn 😊
Wonderfull, I love the whips and you both have helped me improve, thanks
Thanks Peter! I'm super happy to hear that. Please let me know if there is anything else we can do for ya -B
Geez... you guys are good teachers. It’s similar to ballet, there is a technique and filling out of certain movements and counts... it’s all the ‘inbetween’ bits.... and weight placements. From what I’ve gathered this dance is not really known in Queensland, Australia. But it fascinates me and I would love to master it. Getting a partner who knows what they’re doing is not an option though.
Yes, yes, yes! There are always basics and then techniques that fill in between each step. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you learn WCS. Send me an email and I'll respond personally to any questions! www.westcoastswingonline.com/contact-us/
Great videos! Thx.
Thanks Roger! This one was fun. -Brian
That is without a doubt the cutest "turn" 15:57 I have ever heard.
Megan is the cutest ;-) "TURNS" -B
Hi Brian! Nice video, thank you! I knew some of those Whips from your old video about 4 whip variations for wcs from about 4 years ago, this one has even more explainations :)
I got a request: as a beginner all figures start with the leader walking backwards. Could you show how to lead an inside turn where the leader walks forwards? Situation: For example, after a basic Whip with an inside turn for the ending the leader changes the hand and turns for 180 degrees. So your back is faced to the woman, and your right hand is connected to her right hand. How is the foot- and handwork when i try to lead the woman into an inside turn to end up in the standard anchorstep?
Greetings from Germany!
Hi there!
I hope you're doing well.
Sending out well wishes to Germany.
Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion.
I'll try to work this into a future video!
It's on the list.
Best wishes, Brian

Windmill whip
@SancLunatic that sounds fun!! How does that work? Two hands over the head? 🤔 -Emily
@WestCoastSwingOnline Yes. I dont know what it's called exactly. I just call it the windmill whip. Leader does an outside turn with two hands over head also spinning the follower and landing into closed position.
It’s a half pipe. A Pike is a move in Swimming. It’s called a half pipe because it looks like a pipe cut in half horizontally.
Try the skip whip. 1 2, 3&4, 5 6, 5 6, 5 6, 5 6, !?!?! 5 6, 7&8. For ballerinas who are trained to remain over their centre and will not let me connect a swing, I firmly take control while, pulling them off their centre and counting; I rock them 56,56,56,56... until they scream in frustration, then let them out 7&8. When they ask what the hell was that !? I tell them, that's why they call it SWING, I lead. It is not Ballet.
Ha! That's awesome Rusty ;-)
