    I was at this show. I was standing to the left 3 or 4 people away from where this camera was. Long black hair dude dancing by himself the whole time! Seen them 2 times now. This has been the best so far. The energy and sound they give to the audience is amazing. They didn't play Abandon Ship like i anticipated but that's okay!
    I danced my ass off to The Brian Jonestown Massacre babyyy!

    Man, they sound so damn good, here.
    I've seen BJM many times since 2005, and i'm really liking this lineup.
    I saw that it all fell apart in November, so this is really bittersweet.
    Also, LOVE that Anton is playing the Vox 12 string, like the old days.
    It just has that special kinda sound & vibe.

      @jgwire Před 18 dny

      yeah, but hauling all that fussy vintage gear is expensive and takes a lot of gumption. The 12 string electrics older than Anton are almost impossible to tune -- especially when he's using capos, which he is on one song. Good luck with that..

    I saw them in Perth in November, first time and loved it. Good to hear a lot of the songs he put on CZcams during covid making their live tour. Its a shame about the hecklers though! Everything I expected and getting lost in the wall of guitars, was just what I needed.

    • @jgwire
      @jgwire Před 18 dny

      I'm glad you didn't let those loser ruin the show for you -- I don't think Anton comes out onstage angry and ready to fight -- it's when the crowd pesters him and throws things and heckles -- you can only take that for so long. Problem is, that's what many people "expect" a BJM show to be - DIG 2 or something and they attempt to recreate it. Yes, Anton is dead dunk on this tour -- but the crowd were terrible as a whole,. However a year earlier, in may 22, I saw them in Asheville and the show could not have been better. NO hecklers, NO water bottles tossed at stage -- and a friendly and chatty Anton, who seemed to be in a good mood. I did speak with him briefly backstage before his went out, and he complained of "being tired" Yeah I said -- but most touring musicians are chronically tired - until they hit the stage. Then they can't sleep afterward. Enter drugs and drink. He agreed and lit another Camel.

    Well, this is a great surprise. Last time I looked they were brawling momentarily at the end of a show in Europe. Now I think I`m looking at a great show and even a breakthrough for Anton and co. Great great chemistry on show here, wow. Love it, Love it, Love IT. Hey, can anyone point out Anton`s fighting opponent here, `cause if he`s still onstage with them they sure kissed and made up real nice. All power to you BJTM.

    • @jgwire
      @jgwire Před 6 měsíci +1

      No- they didn’t kiss and make up/ they imploded and ruined part of a world tour- thanks to this nonsense
      Nobody on this tour condoned this -
      Especially Anton.
      I hope Anton gets back to Europe and get help for his mental illness- it’s out of control and will lead to him drinking again/ which threatens all hrs worked for, especially his health--
      Is not DIG- its 2023’and nobody - least of all Anton- it’s was the start of a world
      Wide tour Anton planned after Covid-
      Saw and talked to him in US in 22- great show-
      But the 23 shown to UK, US,
      South America
      And then another stint in the states - well
      They dint have Taylor Swifts road crew or amenities- so they gotta rough it-
      Did u see then in Mel borne last month’s-
      Another terrible brawl
      Between Anton and blond guy/
      Anton fires him on stage and refuses to play till he’s gone-
      It ends with shaken Anton stumbling to sit on his arm- just as he lights his camel-
      This thick, heavy screen- it curtain- slowly comes down and it’s all over-
      No accusations-this band needs a break and anton needs to seek mental health treatment for his problems- he’s done great for 14 years - I just hope he hasn’t gone off it-
      Some are talking of him drinking- but I don’t sense it- but if that’s true - I don’t know if you were joking about his “ fighting opponent “
      But Anton says a
      Lot that younger fans heckle him
      And try to get him riled up-
      So they’d rather see a fight than the great music they play/
      And don’t think for a
      Minute that the violence increases the quality of show- don’t want to put words in your
      Mouth- but u love ii when Anton loses it and has a breakdown onstage-
      Dude suffers from
      Mental illness. Why not trying to treat him that way - thank jmho

    • @jgwire
      @jgwire Před 18 dny

      Ryan, the guitar/keyboard guy was Anton's target in Melbourne, which was the worst. I watched this tour devolve on you tube videoes -- Trouble starting almost immediately when he was surprised to have to pay some kind of fee to get his vintage gear into UK, possibly because of Brexit. He hadn't been there since COVID and a lot had changed.
      Also Anton was drinking the whole time for the first time in 14 years. That made him extremely reactive and unreliable -- meaning, this show may be fantastic, but the next night, nothing works, nobody tunes and Anton swigs Grey Goose and calls the crowd CUNTS -- the ones who paid to see him. He's out of his mind.
      I say all power to BJM, but the future of this band seems uncertain. Several reliable sources say Anton had a heart attack earlier this year, underwent a a bypass and is awaiting a pacemaker. Gallons of Grey. Goose, packs of Camel non-filters, and too many mental illnesses to count have finally take him down, if you believe the short statement released by his off-shoot organization, "The Committee To Keep Music Evil." The news came from it site. It just said he needs privacy to heal. I hope he listens or he's a goner....at least musically, and eventually all together. JMHO thanks.

      I'm glad I'm no the only one . WHy are folks raving over this show? I guess up close and in person you just accept or ignore things because you're caught up in the moment. I found the first Neil Young show I went to in Atlanta in 1976. It was the highlight of my life up to then it was SO good. Yet when I listened to the soundboard mix decades later, I was kinda like. -- Meh.......familiarity breeds contempt, especially when the leader of band is often too drunk to play or sing. JMHO. thanks.

      he's almost looking too thin, too fast. His latest Australia show ended early and Joel didn't show up. He was a crazy man in the clips I saw -- I do not sense he was drunk,......though that's been implied here. How would I know that? But the last show in Australia ended up in a huge brawl onstage with Anton and the blond haired dude.....Anton seemed more mentally ill, than drunk. He has been taking medication for mental illness for a decades, and I think that caused some of the weight gain. The doctor who helped him get better said he could never ride a bike again -- or DRINK He had to road test it. I think he ended up in the same German psych ward, I'm not sure. I heard all this from Anton -- 5 five or more he gave a 3 hours interview at a psychheard all this from Anton, when he gave a three our exhaustive interview at a Scottish Yacht Club for a small gathering of fans. Moderator was also a therapist. He was heavier, but sounded happy and content. I think the stress of trying to please his fans during Covid took some kind of toll -- he was releasing sometimes a song a day -- and they we're fantastic and he was very supportive of his fans during lockdown.....became much more accessible. Seem to give him purpose --- he needs that I think. If he is drinking again -- it's no secret. I saw one comment about him drinking shot of vodka onstage? Please, let not get carried away. and let's not put a great but troubled musician on a pedestal -- only to knock down when he falters. Let's be humble. Let's forgive -- but Let's get well -- whatever that means. Sorry so long. I care about the music, but I care more about Anton and his health. I think he looks great thin -- younger....but the way he eats -- and takes pictures of it on twitter -- I don't see how he could have "dieted" -- No there is more to this story - and I'm not sure I even wanna know. I just want to see him well again. Where is his wife -- is she still around, I think she is. but I never hear a peep from her -- but hopefully she's got her hands full with Wolfie -- that's another thing. He's got an almost adolescent son.....He can't act like I saw him act onstage and keep it sustainable. Thanks JMHO....

      Anton sacked him. Anton said he kept playing the wrong songs live? Hard to imagine Dan being out of sorts like that, but I also doubt Anton would say that for nothing. It's not like he needs a reason to hire or fire anyone. Dan Allaire was a monster drummer. @@jlc7841

      Dan left a long time ago. Uri Rennert was their latest drummer until this part of the tour. Also Colin (bass) isnt in at the moment. BJM members have lots of side projects, and also usual work too.

      @@jemen1709 True, I guess we always think of Dan Allaire as the drummer of Brian Jonestown Massacre.
      Uri is a great drummer, but he seems too have too much else going on in the big picture to be committed to The BJM, especially if Anton wants to tour a lot more in the years ahead. After seeing multiple shows in the US, I really think that Dan is becoming a great drummer, but Anton has his own up close view of that.
