I think the name Jack originated from John as an interchangeable name. I find that interesting because John is usually the name for an unknown male, while historically "Spring-Heel Jack" was an unknown murderer, Jack being a name that has a more blunt sound to it, and I interpret it as having more of a rebellious, perhaps mysterious or sinister sound to it. "Jack hacked her up with a wood axe."

Talking as someone whoâs brother has severe paranoid schizophrenia and is in and out of hospitals, it becomes next to impossible to help if the person doesnât or isnât willing to help themselves. And watching your loved one being strapped to the gurney, screaming at the top of their lungs/traumatizing them, just for them to get out 72 hours later with no change... itâs heartbreakingly depressing. Itâs pretty hard to genuinely help someone in that state.
