To any international student hoping to serve this beautiful country as a way to be grateful to this nation hanging in there. I pray that this bill will pass so that those of us who have legally immigrate here for our education can use this opportunity to give back if they are willing.
Thank you sir for sharing this information with us and hopefully this Bipartisan legislation will pass for the reasons that you have enumerated.

If I am legal in the country with a 2-year humanitarian parole, I already have my social and work permit, I can join the US Navy, I am Cuban, so after one year and one day I have the right to the Cuban adjustment law. I would eventually have my residency but I would like to join now.

Humberto, you have no IDEA how excited I am for this bill. I have served my country and it was the best time of my life but I didn't pursue a career in the military because I knew I wanted to immigrate to the US but finding legal ways has been a challenge. Also, it's a big leap. I have most of my life wanted to serve in the US military and if this bill truly passes, it's a DREAM come true.

I was wondering if I can join the army without a green card. I'm 16 but turning 17 next month. I came to Saipan when I was 5 because my parents are divorce and my mom has full custody of me. My mom has been here since 2008. I came to Saipan in 2012. I have been staying here since 2012. I have every document with me but I just don't have a green card. I'm taking my asvab in school this month and I'm graduating high school next school year. I am fluent in Chinese: Cantonese and Mandarin. I also understand Korean. I can also speak and write English. Does student visa qualify once this bill is passed?? And how are they going to hand out green card. Because to my knowledge, green card holder can join pretty much any branch and get their citizenship after a few month, some even get it before they graduate BCT/BMT. My point is if they have a Green Card they basically have a citizenship, how is this bill related to the whole process as it only gives out green card.
This part is for the ones that against it. I’ve seen many green card holder been forced to take shitty jobs even though they scored 90s on the ASVAB. They are forced because they are not a citizen (they about to be in a few months) and can not have a security clearance. That’s so fucking stupid. And not everyone served for a citizenship, some people I’ve talked to are more patriotic than other citizen by birth, yet they are not able to serve in their best capability. And I say that’s a waste of talents. Those who serve in blood shall get the priority.
