- This is part 2 of my restoration of a Wildcat belts made NLW Heavyweight belt.
In this video I strip the plates of both their paint, as well as the remaining gold plating. I the replate the gold to bring the plates back to a near new finish!
Thanks for viewing!

When I saw Daniel Bryans belt tonight, I thought you you. I remember watching your videos way back in the day 2009ish and all the wooden plates you made. Looks like you were onto something.
Make more of these videos. Belt reviews are fine but these are unique and educational.
Really would love to see more vids of you working your craft with these belts. Very fascinating!!!!
Man, seeing those old belts on the walls brings me back to like 7 when i first found your inspiring channel! Thank you for a lot in my life, Paul!
I've only just seen this comment. Thank you so much. That really does mean a lot!
Am I the only one that likes the all gold look over the painted version of this belt?
Love this series so far Paul. Can't wait to see the rest and see how this belt turns out
Love the videos of u doing your craft!!!
Good video Paul. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this little series and seeing the final result
Nice to see the process.
Really liking these videos Paul
Paul cool vid brother.
I'm loving this series dude. My wallet is gonna hate me when I get back into belt collecting again :)
Glad to see you back.
Are most belt usually gold plated and then painted? I only ask because I recently purchased a gold plated belt with paint on spots there shouldn't be. I want to just remove the paint in those spots, however I contacted the makers via email, and the told me the belt was painted THEN gold plated, so if I try to remove the paint it may be silver underneath, is what they told me. Does that sound right?
I'm watching to learn. Could you list the products and tools you use?
Wanted to see how you'd glue the bolts. What do you use?
Paul Martin Belts. What all tools would I need to get started making belts and what paints and chemicals would I need and where do you get the leather for the strap and the gold plates? Thanks Glenn Carter
What all materials would I need to get started making belts and what tool's would I need and where do you get all of your materials to make a belt
Actually impressive kudos...i make home made belts ill show u..
I'm trying to get into making belts. I know you make originals yourself. How do you make the molds of your belts? Thanks.
What did you use to gold plate them?
Where can i get some belt plates
Would this work for replicas also?
Was that belt heavy
What did you use for the stripping of the old plating?
Michael Valentine i think brasco
What did you use to make the plates more sliver?
Brasso
What solution do you used for the gold plating? I want to fix some scratches on my belts.
Shocked to see that one of the two legendary belt brands would cheap out and just throw some jb weld on the back of it. Maybe they worked out some kind of deal and he did the whole thing cheaper, but if that's standard quality no one should ever buy another Wildcat belt.
May I ask you? For the replica titles, their main plate such as the United Kingdom Championship & the RAW/SmackDown Women's Title, what kind of gold plated is it? Definitely not 24k, it has got to be something like cheap gold or something, I am trying to get my replica plates electroplated into new gold.
The replicas don't use real gold
@@titans1127 Thank you Andrew for your reply. I was about to say.
@@titans1127 what is it they use? Paint? I wanna strip one of mine and plate it
5:08 song? i been dying to find it lol
Is the core of the plates zinc or nickel?
J W The plates themselves are Zinc. This is then copper plated, followed by nickel playing, and finally gold plating
@@PaulMartinBelts, thanks for getting back to me. Is that how all real belts are made, whether it's for a wrestling promotion for ring use, or for a private collector?
I'm curious cause I was having a debate with someone the other day about it. He reckons the original Big Gold made by Charles Crumine was silver, plated in gold. I said "for a starters, it's nickel, not sliver. & Secondly, the plates are made of zinc, then plated in nickel & gold".
Belt looked better 2 tone
The gold plating machine isn’t cheap I’ll tell U that
looks way better without paint tbh
