      And why is that ?
Patients always want advices form experienced doctors and not the young ones.
I live in Dehradun , and personally speaking , my friend's mother was admitted to a hospital (Mehant Indresh ) and young female inexperienced doctors could not even apply injection properly and his mother's hand swelled a lot . They complained to authorities but no actions were taken .
Same thing happened to my relatives , their case was also made worst because of young and inexperienced doctors . They had to shift in AIMS Rishikesh for furthur treatment.
People donot trust young doctors with their lives at all .They always seek adviced from experienced doctors.

It happens a lot! I remember during my internship, most of the patients used to call me "didi," "ei sister", "nurse didi" whereas my male co intern was always referred to as "sir" (he used to copy 80% of my answers in the exams). Even people used to call the ward boys and security guards as sir! I'm not saying that they shouldn't be respected, but why am I a didi or sister when I am as capable as the male counterpart? There's probably no other country where there is this level of sexism. I wonder was this the same India which I used to love from the core of my heart?

@@PrinceKumar-lq8bk well... Who told you that we get irritated when someone calls us didi? It happens so frequently that we don't care anymore about what they call us. At the end of the day, we are doctors and patient care is our only duty. Let me tell you one thing, there have been times when I was called "sir". People who come from villages or tribal areas usually don't know the word "madam" and I'm ok with it! I know that they mean doctor didi and I'm fine with it. My problem is with those educated fools, who will come and call you nurse or sister even if you're wearing a white coat and a stethoscope. There have been incidents when I used to work and was interrupted by people saying that "sir knows better, we want him, not you!" So, whatever you're saying and what we're going through is not the same. You're being called a bhaiya at a market by some random lady, and we are referred as a nurse at our workplace is not the same bro. You tried making us feel good that's so sweet of you! But here, you're comparing apples to oranges😅

As a Prosthodontist, one male patient was coming to me particularly during college because he "liked" me, I assume. He used to sit outside in the waiting room even when he didn't have an appointment. I told him to go off and ignored him the rest of the time because he never gave me any other problem. But it is quite uncomfortable. You never know what guys can do.
I was interviewing for my first job after MDS, this was when I was 25. The interviewer who was at a high position at Clove dental, in Bengaluru, said, "Why are you applying in Bengaluru when you're from Chandigarh? Why are you here without your parents? You must have run away. Let me call them and ask. Or let me place you in Chandigarh instead."
I told him I love this city and I want to work here. (Incidentally I was running from emotional abuse at home and eventually did run away). But his remarks were incredibly sexist and infantilizing. I refused to work there after that.

As mentioned above you were in college, so you were learning there and was not, a certified Doctor. And as above mens also fell the same **"You never know what guys can do"** [REPLACE IT WITH GIRLS].Cause we also see many cases in which guys really expresses their problem but know one is their to help them and they are told to keep tht to themselves Hence, being **Neglected**.
The person you mentioned was a bit *fishy* and that, I agree .But refering all mens is somewhere getting obnoxious.
I'm not really saying that somethinf is good or bad.

Moreover, the same things happen to men as well , it's just the media does not report in the cases .
Ex- Latest case in Dehradun , a lady intoxicated her nephew and raped him . He was 16 years old , she got impregented and no media house covered it . Because it does not matter .
Latest in Dun , a girl filed fake rape case against her own father , her father spent 5 years in Jail and just got proved innocent recently (12 th august ) by DNA testing . It took him 5 years to prove his innocent. But no media covered it .
And even doctors do the same , Kidney rackets , fake operations , organ farming , extreme high medical bills . And we don't say all doctors are devils .Some are and some are not . . .

Then they make ridiculous points like, 'I won’t trust someone with colored hair and tattoos.' What’s the problem with people expressing themselves through their personal style? It’s frustrating to see how some are so eager to conform to outdated societal norms that they judge and blame those who don’t fit in. Ha ha ha its all in the attitude dear fellow doctors. Take it from a senior batch female doctor who has a large tattoo in her hand and often colour her hair and wear flamboyant lipstick. This will pass. Once you have proven your self via your talent and service, people will book appointments a week prior, to have a consult with you. That time only your roar will echo against your clinic walls! Sexism and bullshits i have also faced it in my early career days. Today i am ruling. You will also sooner! Cheers to you.

Becoming a specialist requires mbbs + pg followed by super speciality in various fields . Than can range from 8 to 15 years and if they are doing bond that’s even longer. So is it fair to expect someone not to colour or tattoo or wait for 8 to 15 years to enjoy life the way they want.? If it’s not affecting their ability to treat and diagnose than why bother judge them.? Or own goddess Durga Kali are adorned In sarees, Heena ,jewellery ,sindoor, alta which are classic Indian feminine things but they are seen as warrior goddess. Not to criticize you or anything but I think it's totally fine to call a nurse "didi" cause it's a gesture that we use to show our respects (majority does) towards them, when someone we're to call me bhaiya they do it in a very cordial manner, it is again a gesture expressed towards me which states than I'am similar to your younger or older sister and treat me in the same manner as you would to your own Sister, Had your ever taken our pledged seriously cause it states "ALL INDIAN ARE MY BOTHERS AND SISTERS " by default we took it but would get offended when addressed so.
The word "mausi" is being used as a metaphor cause it is assumed that after a mother she's the one who'd care for you like your own mother, and you being a doctor are doing the same thing(saving lives) again there's always a sense of gratitude in it, why is it a problem to show some respect, surely some might not like it and that's totally fine, cause if it was me I'd correct them in most polite way possible that shows my professionalism.
If it's about showing respect then trust me they surely are doing so, in there own way mannerisms, using ENGLISH does not mean we're to follow it's way of expression and if we're to do comparison then didi/mausi/etc... are far better than MAAM, As for calling men SIR, Well... we don't care what you call us, show us the respect that we show towards you and were good with that(atleast good men do), it was never about MAN AND WOMEN IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT MEN VS WOMEN WHY IS THAT,
AND I FELL ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS THAT ARE DELAYING JUSTICE TO THE VICTIM AT RJKR HOSPITAL
I know very well that I'm about to face backlash but that's alright as someone needed to do this

What happens eventually because of this is, there would be some people trying to prick out your mistakes and when they do, it's no more about that mistake but the gender which did it.(sometimes)
All that I have realised is, ladies if you want to remain stern in a male dominated society, you gotta first believe yourself and let not others unvalidate you. The biggest issue with women is we rely too much on emotional validation that when circumstances doesn't go our way we start self negotiating, doubting.
Guess what? If you lose confidence you are doing exactly what others wanted you to do Or see you like.

Please stop the narrative that there is sexism only in our country. The point here is every woman faces sexism in some form or the other everyday everywhere. A mother from his son, a daughter from his parents/relatives, a female employee from a male counterpart etc. This has been so normalised in our society that many women just accept them and move on. This is the hard truth and a bitter pill to swallow. So the society (men and women included) together is responsible for these prejudices and we have accepted these prejudices saying “Haan chalta hai”

With your logic, people in America or any other developed nation should first assess their own issues and compare them with those in other countries before taking any action. If such powerful nations don’t do that, why should we Indians be expected to? No one is claiming that sexism is exclusive to India; it’s common sense that it exists everywhere. However, that doesn’t mean we should downplay our own problems and ignore them. We call our country Bharat *mata* and worship devis here, yet our actions often betray these values. We claim to respect women but then abuse and harass them, only to blame them for their own victimization. Stop using the argument that 'it’s common everywhere' as an excuse to avoid addressing our own issues.

Like why can’t we accept that our peoples upbringing is a problem and it needs to go through a drastic change.

Army personnel are allowed to have tattoos with specific guidelines about size location and type. So as to not propagate extremists ideologies. Tattoos on Doctors on the other hand is a societal perception rather than regulation. Also FYi, there are many doctors who have had a change in career, they complete other degrees before pursuing Medicine and they already have tattoos or coloured hair or whatever. We are talking about our skills not being affected by things like gender sex and tattoos.
We are not in the army and nor does our profession have these formal regulations.
