- This is how I dealt with the issue. Of course I don't recommend hammering on it for hours on end.. but with some strategic gentle taps and a safe space to do it on - I was able to get my battery out. I don't use third party batteries anymore.
Wow! I was struggling for an hour trying to get the battery out to no avail. I watched this and figured I'd give it a shot. Four light slaps to the bottom and the battery delicately slid out no problem. Thank you! This was beyond helpful
I'm so glad you got it fixed!!!
3 year video and it still help me solve my problem thank you so much my good sir .
i appreciate you telling me that!! sorry for the babbling, i didnt know people would watch it!
Thank you SO MUCH! The battery in my camera has been stuck for weeks and I’m going on a trip soon so I really wanted it out. This worked surprisingly well, I appreciate this more than words can express
I'm glad it worked, it happens to everyone. but I will say since switching to real manufacturer batteries I've never had this issue again. I guess it just depends. have a good trip
Thank you so much, you’re a life saver!! I was just testing 2 new batteries for my camera for an event I’m working tomorrow and one of them got stuck. I did exactly as you said and after a little patience and a lot of stress, it came out with ease without damaging the battery or the camera. Thank you so much for posting this. 📷
yikes... third party batteries?
@@jimmycphoto that was the big mistake lol luckily it worked out and the battery works fine- it’s an older camera I’m looking to replace and the original battery wasn’t charging anymore and I had to go cheaper while saving up for the new one 😬
This worked like a charm!!! I even had to hold the lever with one hand and bop the camera on my knee once but that was enough to get it to hold the latch open on its own. I'm so relieved. I forgot I had left a battery in there for several months and I was so worried it had late. Thank you so much for this video!!
oh goodness this is happening to alot of people! I'm glad you saved the camera.. let's all buy OEM batteries from now on. haha thank you for the nice comment
Thank you SO much for posting this! I’m on Day 2 of a 9 day vacation and was fully panicking, especially when I got a new wide angle lens specifically for this trip. Definitely replacing my secondary battery with a brand name one as soon as I get home :)
oh no!! thank you for saying that. I'm sure you handled it like a boss
The battery was swollen in my Sony mirrorless camera. This video helped me fix it just a few minutes ago! Thanks so much!!!
I do photography as a hobby sometimes and stopped using my Sony a6400 a few months ago after a third-party battery got stuck in it. This video helped me knock it out in under 2 minutes! Thank you!
wow it's been in there for a long time. yep.. 3rd party batteries are no Bueno. I wish they were dependable. that's a nice camera you have. come back to the hobby!
Phew, I was starting to get nervous! Thanks for the tips, the battery came out quite easily!
i havent had this issue since avoiding 3rd party batteries. its weird.. they look exactly the same.. but i guess there is a quality difference.
Damn - How come is it that, its always a random youtuber who saves the day! Thank you so much! I was struggling to get the battery off my Canon 1300 and just randomly searched for solutions on youtube - It was your video that popped up! You saved the day!
haha, glad it worked out, others have said strong tape, or a hit glue stick worked as well!
You Sir, are a lifesaver!! Thank you for posting this!
I'm glad it helped you, it's crazy how many people this is happening to..!
Thanks for amazing tip @JC. I have this Canon T6 Camera and the battery is still having the original plastic cover on it and for some reason it was snugged and was not able to take out. I followed the first tip you shared and it worked like gem. Thanks again for this great info.
It's a scary issue to have... im glad you fixed it!
Ended up in a similar situation with the original battery of my D3100. I am glad I found your video!
oh wow original batteries bloat too? I didn't know that. thank you for the nice comment
Wow!! Thanks for the tapping suggestion!!! It worked with 4 taps...the white lever was a bit stuck..now it's perfect...you learn something new everyday!
was it a third party battery? 😅
You guys treat these cameras like gods i swear, i just slapped the thing without the lens and it came off perfectly !!! thanks for the video your much appreciated !!!
haha!
@@jimmycphoto i just slapped mine now....an it just dropped ...lol...thanks man
I used little pieces of ducktape to keep the latch back; it worked. your tips are great. THANK YOU. I love you
You rock, Jimmy! Thanks for posting this video.
One suggestion for Fixers: I was able to easily remove the battery door for safety while tapping the battery out on a Canon Rebel T6 and reattach the door after 👍
thats a much needed idea. thabk yiu for posting and also thank you for that kind message!!
Thank you, so much Jimmy! I've been using my other camera and left my Sony A6400 on the tripod for a while without taking the battery out (my bad). When I went to put the camera away and pack it up for a bit, the battery would not come out, I was pretty concerned, I tried your method and it worked like a charm!
thank you for saying that Michael, was it a third party battery by chance? yeah I leave in there longer than I should too!
You just saved me. I have a Fuji XT3 and cheap battery from Amazon got stuck. Your technique worked. Thanks a million.
yeah... those batteries are cheap. I haven't used them since. believe me I wish I could.. I would!!
It worked! Mine must have been super swollen because the only thing that worked for me was gently tapping the bottom of the camera on the edge of my kitchen counter top...it sounds scary, but I was sure to only lift the camera an inch or so from the surface and tapped in a rhythmic beat, to be sure I wasn't too fast or too rough. Thank you!
oh wow iy must have really been in there. your camera is really robust! maybe place a silicone pot holder on the table just in case, but im glad everything is ok!
Thankyou very much for making this video, this is such a big help to us
🙏🏼😊
Awesome advice! Thank you! It took me less than a minute to get it out.
great to hear!!
thank you! was gifted an old digicam from my dad and accidentally slid the battery in the wrong way the second time I tried to use it. this fixed it in under a minute! thank you for your video!!
what a great gift! take tons of cool pics with it!!
Thanks alot for the suggestion. I started to go into panic mode when the battery got stuck in my EOS 600D. Removed it in less than 3mins. Thanks alot again
oh that is good news!
Thank you! Was starting to get stressed and very frustrated. The simple slapping worked perfectly. Such a simple fix, but I didn't think to do that and had started to try sticking something up there to try and pry it out. Glad I searched and found this. Seriously, thank you!!
whew I'm glad. was it a third party battery? someone also said using a command sticky hook also worked.. great idea. glad you got it out. yes very stressful.
@@jimmycphoto yep 3rd party.
It's worked on my nikon D40
This worked thank you so much. Have a blessed year.
you too!
You are a lifesaver. I'm going on a safari in two weeks, but the battery was stuck in my camera. Your method solved the problem. Thank you so much!
enjoy your trip, be safe!!
omg thank you!! i have a shoot tomorrow and decided to bring a backup battery along with my main one
tried to check how much juice was left in the backup one, and the moment i inserted the battery i knew i messed up
though i was able to slide the battery in, it felt swollen, and is now stuck.
so glad this was the first video i came across! got the battery out with ease, thank you so so much :)
yikes... awful feeling! a question I ask everyone.. was it a third party battery? haha
@jimmychungtalent IT WAS! lesson learned hahaha
Thanks very much...this tip helped me to remove a stuck battery in my Lumix GX85 camera and saved a disastrous situation.
i know right.. what a pain!
Thanks Jimmy, you saved my life, and most important, my camera! LOL
hahah that is one expensive camera!!!
This is super helpful after my battery didn’t come out of camera for 3 months. Thanks!
was it a third party battery out of curiosity?
@@jimmycphoto Yes. It is
@@bonnieanddavidsvlog8118 thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! After 20 minutes of trying things I did what you said in the video and after 2 minutes it was done!🙏🙏🙏
whew!!
Thanks it worked for our Nikon D3200... In my case battery was lik bit swollen as we did not use it more than 2 years... Now my question is can I charge that swollen battery and use or recommend to buy new battery???? Your suggestion will be helpful???
it worked! Thank you so much, JC!
The tapping method worked for my Nikon D5200 - YAY! My vacation is saved! Thank you!
haha! hooray for vacations being saved!! good job!!
Thank you very much! I actually didn't expect the first method to work, but it did very well! I just bought a Samsung nx1100 that's in brand new shape off the used market and a 3rd party battery have gone stuck inside it, probably because of the stickers that gripped well on the inside, but thanks to this video I managed to take it out successfully with little to no effort!
jealous of your camera! you got this!
Thank you! I just got my battery out using your tips. My replacement battery just expanded.
thank goodness it came out!!
Thank you so much! I was trying to figure out how to get my battery out of my camera. In 2:45 was the solution for me!
Thank you so much! I was able to get my battery out! You saved the day!
you made my month with your kind comment. thank you for taking the time!! genuine batteries from now on! hee hee
Wow! It worked!! Thank you!! I’ve been struggling like forever😆. Thank you for making this video 😊
this video rly helped! i tried all sorts of methods but this turned out to be the best. thank you :)
oh im glad you got it out!!!
Help me MASSIVELY on a 15k USD cam. Thanks so much man
holy crap... 15k. no more 3rd party batteries for you!! haha. good for you my friend
Thank you buddy. This was great help. It has worked for my canon cam.
what a relief!! others have said strong velcro strips or hot glue gun sticks have helped. glad all is good
Thank you ❤❤ this video was really helpful. It made things easier for me.
Thank you so much. This was a huge help. I've been trying for 16 hours to get this thing out. Also, this happened with a third party battery and not the original that came with my camera, would this have been an issue as well? Should I stick to first party products for my Canon?
that.. is unfortunately the exact problem. i paid much more.. and switched to oem original batteries by fuji. there are slight different models made for different models. so be sure to check what is recommended. get those. they sure do look the same. but.. yes the third party ones unfortunately do that. thank goodness you fixed the issue. oh I see you have a Canon. yes.. 3rd party batteries are ok, but if I have to spring for more expensive batteries.. you have to as well. haha!
Thank you very much. Just happened to me but your advice helped. 4-5 moves and that batter was out. After taking it out, I noticed the battery is not totally flat, just a fraction of a millimetre but that was enough. Throwing that one out.
yeah... third party batteries... they aren't good. I wish they were believe me.
Finally, I can use my camera again. Thank you very much for the video.
This was super helpful. Thanks
Phew! Thought it wouldn't work but it did. Thank you🏅
Thank you so much sir... I was so stressed and don't know how to remove for half an hour... 2.16 clip method I tried it's come out...
Seriously good info from you, definitely will share 💯💯💯
oh im glad! since switching to original batteries, I haven't had this problem.
This worked for me (I wasn't expecting it to!). Nikon D5000. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for the video, I wanna add, as it was for my case, that if you struggle by getting out the battery out also because you have the little orange clip in the middle, try to put a small soft plastic piece in between the battery and the camera, I cut it from a bottle cap, it worked for me at least :)
Thanks for the advice. It worked!
OMG ! Helped me a lot!!! THANKS!
I have 3 batteries that i don't use often, why does it (3 of them) got swollen even though i rarely use camera?
1 original battery, 2 third-party batteries
the third party batteries, yes they will swell.. more often than not even when not used. the original I have not had problems with. are you using 3rd party chargers as well? I used to, but I don't anymore and I think that helps
Thank you, it helped! Had the problem with a non original battery, my original one is easy to remove...
YOU SAVED MY LIFE KING THANK YOUUUU
you are welcommme
You just absolutely saved my ass!!! I used a piece of clear tape to hold the tiny yellow latch down and the sucker came right out
I think that idea is better, good job on keeping calm and fixing it!!
Thank you for your advice. I placed a cannon 5 d battery by mistake in my cannon 6 d and it got stuck. I followed your advise and the battery came out
Brother..this same thing happened to ma brothers camera and it was ma fault and he hasn't found out..i was scared to death then i came across your video..did what you said and BOOM it came out
THANKS SO MUCH !!!!!
I'm glad everything is ok! only genuine batteries for me, I haven't had issues since!
@@jimmycphoto THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!...
Bought a new lens and found out my battery was dead/swollen/stuck and this did the job! Ty!
oh im glad! some people have reported success by using a glue stick.. heavy duty tape, etc.. but glad it's all good!
Super helpful. Thank you!
Slapping your camera seems like a really bad idea. What I did instead was to stick a piece of sticky-back Velcro onto the battery and drag it out far enough to get a grip on it. (Thanks, No Tech Guy!) My battery was swollen with age and this method worked perfectly.
smart idea indeed! thank you for sharing.. yes. I should have specified... love taps.. haha
Thanks! panicked a bit as I want to sell an old Nikon 3100 and it was super stuck. 2 mins of light taping, and a latex glove, worked perfectly!
that's enough excitement for today! haha
Did not realized my phrasing sounded THAT sus XD@@jimmycphoto
Worked like a charm
Thank you so much - the first attempt sorted me out!
yay!!!
Heat two glue sticks then push & hold it hard towards the battery , then after 2 mns try to pull it the battery should comeout with it.
Very clever! It just worked for me.
The hitting didn't work, gonna try this out
Thank you! This helps me alot! Save my time too!
Ty so much I’m gonna tey
I approve. My battery was stuck REAL BAD. Saved my day. Thanks man.
Amazingly helpful advice - and a - “duh! Of course, why didn’t I think of that” - moment 😂 got my battery out no prob - thank you!
oh good news. there are other great methods talked about below. my favorite being the glue stick method. I dont use 3rd party batteries anymore.
I kid you not! I was also like...that's should have been the first thing I try 😂
Wow; you helped me out BIG TIME!!! Thank you; just ordered two new Canon batteries...
whew!!!
I used a little command hook. Attached it to end of stuck battery , follow same directions as if putting hook on wall. Let it set as in directions from command hook. Pulled on hook and battery pulled out. No smacking on battery at all, just need to watch out for battery door and latch.
really great idea. I know this will help many people
You are amazing. It worked! Thanks a lot!
whew! no more third party batteries for us!!
Great method it worked with the swollen battery stuck in my camera. I was just about to try glue sticks but this worked. Thanks
yes if we could avoid sticking warm things in our cameras that would be ideal, but it's a great idea. I'm glad your camera is ok!!
Thank you sir, three taps and it was out!
My Camera, Sony a6400
I forgot about my camera for 3 years and now that I tried to turn it on I noticed that it doesn't work and the battery was swollen. I managed to get it out with your advice, thank you. Does it mean now that my camera is broken because of the battery or if I buy a new one it should be fine? (no previus problems)
oh wow! was it a 3rd party battery? thank goodness it came out. get an original one and I do believe it should be fine. if there isn't any white fizzy stuff in there, I do believe you can get right into shooting asap!!
@@jimmycphoto Sadly, there are no original batteries anymore (at least in my country and all over the internet that delivers here), because my camera is old...There was no discharges from the battery, it's all clean inside, so I guess it should be fine than. Thanks.
@@wowkiller9 ah yes in that case that is understandable
Thank you so much, this was a live saver
I'm so glad you fixed it!
Just got the battery out with the Indian sitting suggestion. Thanks a lot. God bless you.
oh that's a relief! yes one time I almost dropped my camera due to my impatience. so.. always good to get close to a padded surface. good for ya!
Thank you so much!!! It worked! Now I can use the money I saved to get a new battery
please get a genuine battery! :)
IT WORKED!!! THANK YOUUU 😭
Thank you for this tip. The battery did come out from my camera after a few taps.
Why does a battery get swollen ?
Next video.
I'm so glad that helped. luckily there are other great ideas in this comment section. I have switched from exclusively using 3rd party batteries to 9verpriced genuine oem batteries.. and.. no problems. wish that wasn't the case. glad your camera is ok!
Thanks, I managed to get my battery out with this method.
huzzah!! was it a 3rd party battery?
Thank you so much man!🎉
Thanks for the video. I was able to remove my stuck battery from my fujifilm xa10
It really works!!! Thank you so much you save my life!!!✨✨
whew!! I'm so glad!!!
Thank you so much..it really helps a lot
aw anytime!!
dude Thank you SO much !!😭 i just got my first ever camera (canon eos rebel t51) and i accidently put the battery in the wrong way and holy crap this saved me from SO much panicking 😭😭
AND after i got the battery out i was checking if my second one (not a native one) is chrged and it got stuck too !! so i went to true coments and the hot glue stick worked like a charm too !!
i then relized the second battery is a bit "bloated" on one side... safe to say im never using it again😂
sigh.. I know. those 3rd parties.. you never know! I must admit I panicked too. but I have never had that issue again. crazy. im glad you are alright!!
Thank you so much Jimmy! It worked!
oh no!! it's happening to so many people! lol... im so glad it's ok!
Thank you so much for your help!
don't mention it! glad all is good!!
Appreciate it my man

I hope this helps in some small way!!
Thank you so so so so so much!!!!
Thanks a lot!!!! It's worked in seconds 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
oh good!!!
Thank you so much, you saved my battery
oh if it was stuck.. I would recommend a new battery, hopefully a genuine company
Thanks! Worked on my Nikon d5200. I used the floor puzzle mat instead of my hand.
whew... thank goodness. was it a third party battery?
@@jimmycphoto You saved me a ton of headache. So thankful I found your fix. It's an old original battery but stored in a hot location. Had to really hit it on the rubber mat hard. Good thing my camera still works.
Thank you so much!!
I apply the trick and it works thank you brother
Thank you lifesaver
very effective. thanks so much.....
How to remove stuch battery from Nikon camera P530?
