For everyone, who doesnt understand why she won. Simple answer. She unites the hearts of countries that were under soviet union pressure and corruption. She sang it beautifully, had good runs and the emotion was feelable in everyway possible. The Tree stands for the lost lives. Its a perfect combination story + music + her vocal range and emotion behind it. Eurovision is not only about vocals and the music itself, its about uniting the hearts of the people in Europe, having beautiful emotion behind it having a meaning as a reason to sing such a song.

And I agree with you 100% about Jamala being emotional during the song. I especially love the part in 2:18 where it sounds like she's singing while crying, and then at 2:27 where she just lets everything go.
This song is super depressing and doesn't fit Eurovision at all, but it's still a very well done song. I was super pissed off about Ukraine snatching the win from Australia (Dami Im is my precious cinnamon roll), but as I think about it now, im glad Jamala won.

From the 12-year-old singing this song, I looked up and discovered the Europe Song Contest and this amazing singer and her song "1944" which won. WOW, I thought, what are they talking about. I watched the official video and so moved by it I went to research 1944 and found out what happened to the Crimea population. I watched documentaries and studied the Ukraine map and I just want to thank CZcams for making it possible for a 72-year-old musical Grammy to enjoy the world and learn along the way. I am so taken by Ukraine that I am still studying it. Bravo all of you!

The difference between Lazarev and Jamala just few points, by the way Ukraine gave u 12 points. So why u do this? Why u hate her so much, why u insult her and try to change something every day? It's not her fault that jury didn't like Lazarev! And stop talking that Ukraine paid money! Ukraine has a bad political situation now and we didn't care about Eurovision. It was a big surprise for us that Jamala won, nobody aspected it! But we are so happy now!)))Guys why u didn't vote for Australia? Jury gave her maximum points but u just put her on 4th place! Of course jury wanted Australia's winner. But u helped Ukraine to win! So please respect now Jamala's victory and millions people who voted for her! Please, Russians haters, try to be kinder!!!
