Hearing a doll youtuber say that a RequiemArts pattern was confusing was so validating. I've been struggling with a 1/3 scale pattern they labelled "beginner" for about a month now and I'm on my third attempt. The store seemed surprised when I emailed saying I was struggling, so knowing someone who does this for a living struggled too was really validating!
Not every instruction makes sense to everyone. Most of their patterns are great and clear to me, but this was a specialty case and I was in a bad mood 😅

please not tribal :')) an indigenous doll with authentic research would be great, but the world does not need more bastardized "tribal" aesthetics that take from oppressed cultures with zero respect. a cool alternative (unless i'm wrong) would be neo tribal y2k. i admittedly don't know much about its orgins, it obviously has tribal in the name but the look is so different i'm not sure if it's just very vaguely inspired or if the name is unrelated.

Dear Barb. The thing I love about fashion doll customizing is that there is no ‘right’ way to do anything. Some doll artists sew and some glue and some do it differently every time and there is No GateKeeping in this community that have seen.
So ‘boo’ to that stranger that was ever ‘disappointed’ in you - it is their problem. What is important at the end is that you are happy with your results - not anyone else.
However, The clothes came out just fine for this doll and you and Alex are a great team - you each have your strengths and you have each others backs.

I'm a cancer myself and loved what you did! Tho I'll be honest I didnt know that emerald was part of my birth stones. I knew about ruby, moonstone and pearl. It was so cool learning something new. Amazing job as always. ❤

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that list is entirely inaccurate. I'm a Virgo, and I've been told my whole life that my stone is sapphire, not carnelian.
I was a little confused because I'm cancer and the birthstone is ruby
Most people have multiple stones and yes we can share but we do have a prominent one. July being Ruby but we also have pearl, emerald and moonstone. I had to look it up because I had never hear of us having emerald. But I was wrong and that's okay to find out something new
You've been told your stone by month you were born in, not by your zodiac. You can now learn about this other way of approaching birthstones! So you're not wrong nor the list is inaccurate. They're just 2 different things.
Personally, I find gluing things to be more difficult than sewing them - either it doesn't actually stick or it makes a big mess. Sometimes both. And it's harder to fix mistakes than with sewing, too. So props to you guys for getting it to work.

Twyla has always been one of my favourite monster highs for her style, colour scheme and character, and I think crabs are adorable so I'm incredibly happy to have those as the basis for the doll for my star sign. I may not be particularly into horoscopes/astrology, but I love how it inspires people to make such beautiful creative projects!

People who make disparaging comments about artists like the jerk who said they were "disappointed" you didn't sew should have to do exactly what they're disparaging about. Miniature clothes are HARD. Glue is valid. You don't want to use it for life-size clothes bcuz it'll fall apart SO fast, but for miniatures? even with semi-heavy play that's still less stress than real stuff. And the glue has like, more to stick on percentage wise.

I came back to enjoy it a second time! She's very adorable and so unique! Was just thinking, though, how difficult it must be to not be affected by negative comments... and how easy it must be for some people to make a negative comment without realising how it might affect the artist! I guess constructive criticism might be intended to help us to grow a bit, but I think many artists are able to progress in their work (since they are always evaluating and judging - or even criticising - their own work) even without "helpful" input from others, so I wish we could all be a bit more thoughtful of others. I, at any rate, think you both do a fantastic job!!
Whilst I agree that being nice is better than not nice, without constructive criticism (regardless of what it's being applied to - art/crafts/business etc.) people can't grow their skills. They'll just be stuck at a certain level, unable to grow or progress. There's a reason constructive criticism exists; not to be nasty, not to be negative but to push each other to grow, to get better at whatever we do, to enjoy the process.
Though, to be clear; negative comments are not constructive criticism. Lots of people get the two confused (both giving and receiving). Negative comments will only tear you down, tear down your accomplishments and generally make you feel like crap (receiving them). Constructive criticism is only supposed to push you to be better - next time - and give you a different perspective on your work; to fill in gaps in knowledge, to see how you can improve.
So whilst, yes, negative comments should be kept to a minimum (I say minimum because this is the internet and people are _going_ to be mean at some point), constructive criticism should always be welcomed and not shunned.
One of the things I love about your series is how unique you made your decision making. From simply choose a strip, to throwing seashells in a funny design (would have been so sweet to add the two shells to you character). And your Zodiac Student is really perfect; I really love how she is simple a student and I remember making a suggestion from first video that "simple can be beautiful." I will also love to buy your Zodiac doll designs from your shop. Since I don't believe I will be joining Patreon so soon, having a design of the dolls is better than nothing. Especially when Virgo comes out😊!

Oh my gosh how did I not know about vampire crabs and why are they so pretty? I love her face, she's so cute! Leg horns sounds so funny, it makes me giggle everytime I hear it 😅 I love how you used leftover hair for her as well. Yaaaassss love the sailor type uniform, it's so cute. It works so well in the colours, even if the materials were annoying to work with. It was a good idea to glue the outfit, monster high is such a tiny doll to work on. I've hand sewed clothes for them and barbies before and it's a pain in the....hand 😅 The accessories are so cool. She came out so stunning. Zodiac high actually sounds really interesting.
