I think you can tell how happy he is about this role and film. He must’ve felt like it was a joyful breath of creativity and fun in his long and very successful career!
As his career tends to be filled with various amounts of horrifying, tragic, violent and authoritarian characters seeing him in delightfully silly role was such a testament to his acting ability. Really showed his comedic talent.
His English accent when he said the French words is the cutest
I only ever saw Ralph in thrillers, or as malignant monsters. This is my favorite role he's ever played ever.

Я уже запуталась, где роли а где Райф, потому что пересмотрев все фильмы с его ролями слушаю больше интервью господина Райфа Файнса, мне очень нравится его просто слушать это огромное удовольствие, Райф очень трогательный и проникновенный Спасибо великому актеру❤ Мне думается , что он как личность интересней всех своих персонажей ....
He comes off a bit bashful about this role, you notice it when he's talking about "favouring older ladies," but I really expected him to be the almost the opposite! He plays it all so coolly on film, M. Gustave is so goddamn suave, but I guess it's actually an affectation *on top of* Ralphe's natural charm.
