Snowguard lends credence to the opinion that new cards should not be priced at the same rate as Thanos, Galactus, and Kang. I would have considered buying Snowguard for 3,000 tokens, _maybe,_ but even that's pushing it.
Yeah, its kind of crazy to have all cards release series 5. I think the only series 5 releases should be big, deck warping cards like galactus, thanos, etc..
@Sorprenant on the other hand... it's nice when new cards are a little more rare, because then they have less of an impact on the meta due to scarcity. That way if they release OP, it doesn't force a fast, unplanned change
@@jacobmussara4942 yeah I agree new rare cards are cool, but every card coming out s5 doesn't make sense. Also, I think the card being rare makes it harder to judge its actual power in the meta from low usage rate.
I got Galactus yesterday. Played about 150 games so far. Climbed from rank 49 to 77. Net cubes of around 130. So many retreats tho. I'd say 30% are retreats depending on draw. The curve is so important. I use Adam Warlock instead of Wolverine. This video is gonna help me figure out different win cons, although I've done it myself a few times. Cheers Regis 👍😊
Most bad locations for cerebro are aura effects that snowguard cannot permanently turn off. If you try to turn off an aura effect location t6, it turns back on for the End of Game phase calculation. So Xandar or Sewer or whatever are still going to ruin you.
@@Latooni oh, really? I thought that since it turns off "after this turn" effects, it would also turn off the negative power locations until after the game ends. C2 is doomed to never be good i guess
I've seen Doc Ock make a great play once. I was down and threw it in on turn 5 as a hail mary. It pulled in Knull followed by Destroyer Armor. One Shang Chi later and his entire hand was decimated.
Snowguard is goated for cerebro 2 decks. Ultra consistent now and you can run surfer and sack brood and storm, and sub in Luke cage. She's incredible in pretty much only that deck. I've lost/had no effect on any other deck I played her in
Surfer in a Cerebro decks seems slightly counterintuitive imo, wouldn't his buffs ruin your synergy across the board by focusing all the power onto a couple of cards? As an example, Snowguard would then also be much less useful in the deck as not only do the location effects only last for a turn (no negating locations that nerf/increase power, Cerebro's worst nightmare, making Snowguard's purpose just very niche disruption from occasional locations or (re)opening locked lanes for both players), but many games they wouldn't be actually getting C2 buff due to Surfer making any 3-costs bigger, UNLESS the only 3s you ever planned on using were Surfer/Cerebro/Mystique, even then it seems, idk a waste of a deck slot I guess just to include for the scenario of hitting one/both of those.
@@sgtnubbings6501 bingo, right on the money. You only ever use surfer, mystique, and cerebro as 3 costs. It makes the entire deck perfectly balanced. As for song bird, yes it only works for a turn, however it also works "in between turns". Meaning that if you play it on the last turn at a problematic location, the game will end and that location won't activate, fixing most problems. The addition of Luke cage and hazmat with beast, also means you can move around accordingly and decrease the odds that a location hurts you. Getting monster island is still an instant concede, but the deck has won me 19 games and lost 4, so it's really solid so far. C2 basically needed storm before, but now you can do without her. Granted you need some pretty expensive pool 4 and 5 cards to make it work.
@@Tahngarth I was under the impression from watching vids about them that Snowguard would not negate most locations at the end of game, such as Necrosha/Nidavellir etc as examples, if played turn 5/6 Snowguard disables it for the turn but it doesn't retain that effect and re-activates during the end of game phase (When triggers like Marvel and Dracula happen). It does work to disable Limbo from triggering a turn 7, but that seems to be one of the few instances it would actually be game changing. Could be entirely wrong how it works though, not having the card myself and most people not really knowing yet how most of the interactions work.
Snow guard would make c2 decks more consistent to disable other lanes without the need for multiple cards to control the lanes, even in c3. Or it can be used to open up lanes for bounce/destroy decks.
if it could turn things like Xandar off permanently i would love the card but honestly it doesn’t seem too helpful unless you pull Crimson Cosmos or Plunder castle
disagree with its current mechanics. maybe if bear or hawk lasted the game for the location thats one thing... but it really is just much better placed by a better 1/2 in C2. For a card to be in 'the best' archtype deck, it needs to replace and be better than what it DOES replace. i don't see that really happening
She would be better, but would still have fairly limited utility, I think. The lack of permanence is the issue for the Hawk, and the lack of opportunity is the issue for the Bear. There just aren't many games where either effect proves more valuable than effects you might obtain from competing cards.
@@RegisKillbin one problem I saw is I think hawks actives after the start of a turn and stops before the end of that turn, if it activated at the end of current turn or stopped after the end of the next turn it would help a lot more, like "at the end of (every) turn" effects.
