I take it just spamming E must be funny in some circles, but without the context of its comedy it merely seems bland and rather boring to me.
This man is a god tier narrator, I can’t express that enough, the calming voice, the perfect pronunciation, just an overall prime example of what any writer should want there audiobook narrator to be.
It almost makes the older videos unwatchable, because it's such a driving force through the insanity of the gameplay. If you go back only a year or two he didn't really have the confidence yet, so glad he grew past it and we now get blessed with the amazing wordsmithing done in a video about a man in winter.
I feel like he also defamiliarizes regular things.
He reminds me of Graystillplays a little in terms of being easily understood and a little bit of a weirdo.

I love these project zomboid stories. It's less a "can you" and more a "here's the tale of the guy who woke up in the middle of winter to find out the world went to s**t..."

these are just good, calming stories. It's good content. clickbait implies he deceived us in some way.
Combine this with an "always night" mode and you've got a pretty spicy Dead Sun scenario.
Or a "The Sun Vanished" scenario if you do some additional modding
Right? Something like "the Earth was ejected from orbit and is hurtling from the solar system. As we slowly drift further away, the strange and anomalous is happening-- our freshly dead are rising again and attacking the living. Oh, how we've fallen."

The saddest thing in that scenario, is that no matter how well you survive- the Earth will eventually lose all heat around 2 years (I believe), and all life will die.
@@DylanVA Not quite all life. There would still exist some bacteria and other micro-organisms that could sustain themselves deep in the ocean (which would remain liquid underneath the pressure of the massive ice sheet), huddled around geothermal vents.
Theoretically, some smal amount of humanity could survive deep underground, utilizing geothermal and nuclear power and large hydroponic's basins to survive. But the number would be in the tens of thousands at the most, and would take a concentrated effort of the world to accomplish.
And life would be very dreary, indeed. Endless work to maintain the machines that sustained life, lest the lights go out for good.
This is literally the most calming video I have ever listened to, yet the protagonist is suffering greatly while I'm smiling, he's suffering and I'm smiling.

I've needed to hear his soft narration, Thoreau-isms, and assymetric cuts. Never have I been more proud to be a Patron.
I love this longform narrative story. More than just a game, adding the little tidbits about the (former) people you find really adds to the experience. And the cliffhanger? Eagerly anticipating the next entry in the saga.
I think the protagonist died in the car crash right at the end

Sometimes listening to Project Zomboid I cant tell if you are a playing a character or if you are simply reading your script. It feels so personal everytime you do another video is like another chapter in someones actual life

Took me long enough! Got inspired by some of the new noiseworks updates to give winter another shot - a bit more survival horror, but wanted to try something new :)

This is by far one of the best videos I've seen, and I really, REALLY want to see more like this. The effort of man against nature, man against man, and man against himself was so absorbing and profound once combined with musical and editorial choices alongside brilliant monologuing which genuinely made me feel everything. The choice to enforce the sounds made by the dead and weather above everything but an enhancing musical score unobtrusively reminded us of the pressing needs that were pushing everything forward.
Absolutely aces, and masterfully done.
I love your channel so much. You're one of the few youtuber who speaks so eloquently. I adore your descriptions as your journey went on. It's infectious.
We need a new map for Zomboid with almost endless woods, I want to see the struggle of someone trying to find their way back to what was civilisation from a remote place. Weeks or months of in game walking. Wonder how big the map in Zomboid can be.
I would say a week at most depends on your supplies, route taken, and zombie population. Several times I have walked from Muldraugh to the farm house with a well. Also the farm house to Rose Wood.
A big chain of woodland and truckstops from Muldraugh all the way down to the Tennesse line...

Thousands contained within its walls, all waiting to be released once a poor soul met one of the many pressure plates that littered the periphery.
Just one step, just outside the hearing range of the thousands of doomed roaring from within, and you would be among them.

Since this game takes place in Kentucky, your idea would line up with starting from the eastern part of the state where it is far more rural, forested and mountainous.
I really appreciated the end of this video! All your PZ vignettes together feel like one mans journey and at the same time the isolated and desperate journeys of many lonely men.
you do know that character died right? AA crashed the car at the end and so is journey came to an end at the fourth day of the great winter.

I love the way he makes these videos as if reading from a survivors diary. So nice and calming to listen to
this is art. I sat down to watch this, and its audio/visual presentation embraced and comforted me like a warm, soft blanket on a cold winter evening, even though it's 78° F in my room. I'm not being hyperbolic or artistic, I literally realized as I was watching this that I was feeling comforting warmth even though it's texas and summer ain't finished yet.
Man, I've been playing so much project zomboid because of you and can't wait for multiplayer. The thing I love about this game so much is the possibility of success is always so tantalizing but it's always over shadowed by the fear of death, a permanent end and I really think that, in a small way, this video perfectly encapsulates that.
There is a crap ton of luck involved. If it is a maybe situation then do not do it! Think of it as real life. Water food and shelter are all you really need.
Lol you should try out CDDA if you like losing a character you've been playing for a whole month because you try to throw a grenade and dont realize theres ballistic glass in the way so it bounces back and kills you yes Im still mad

Here’s a thought: Would very colds temps disable zombies by freezing them solid, or not? And if their brains freeze, would that kill them?🤔

Here's another: Why don't their eyes and ears rot with the rest of them? How can they still see and hear people?

Please, please oh please, I NEED episode 2 for this. No. Make this into a show. The whole thing is amazing. Such good narration and gameplay. I don't know why, I don't know how, but this made me feel like a colonist after a catharsis.
There is a sharp contrast between this man and Josh from Let's Game it Out - but they're both absolute masters in their own right.

I think it has been consistent, I started following AA since Gerald Williams and those videos were top notch in narrative, music, shitpost and poetry.

I've been watching a bunch of your old, pre-sage, pre-semi-coherent ramblings and I've gotta say that without a doubt this' the best version.
I'm conflicted. On the one hand, I love people's honest, knowledgeable takes on games they truly enjoy, with no gimmicks, acts, or any real premise other than just playing the game.
On the other hand, I freaking love philosophical ramblings that make me question things I should not have to question while watching Project Zomboid.

I’m sick today. But listening to the calm story as I lay wearily trying to get better is a delight I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy.

i love how in the end not the cold or the zombies killed you but the character's own mistake of crashing while most likely panicking like ou always knew how to survive but lost the fight with your own mind

Sorry, I dont think a follow up episode will be possible at all, because the character died at the end. He crashed the car and that's why the story was cut so abruptly.
AA makes this game seem so much more interesting and engaging than it actually is for 90% of the time you spend playing, even going so far as to add the sound effects (doors, windows, static, wildlife etc.) Truly a master of manipulating the mundane monotony into a material much more...mesmerising. Thank you Mr. Amphibian, for you are most ambiguous.

I always had trouble sleeping. But this mans voice is so good and his way with words always put me in a soothing safe place. I always have to rewatch the video the next day to see how it ends.

Mr Amphibian, your Project Zomboid Philosophy videos are the only ones I watch at Normal speed instead of 1.5X speed. Some things in life are meant to be savoured.

The way you weave a narrative into gameplay is some of the best commentary I've ever seen. Your channel is special. I originally came here, way back in your torsolo campaign, for the gameplay. I ended up staying for the writing, the commentary, the stories you tell.

Ran off road because of hazardous road conditions+panik from hordes, hit tree, airbag deployed late so ither died instantly or passed out and the horde gobbled him up

how is this relaxing? like it's a zombie game and supposed to be kinda scary and stressful but honestly, I feel calm and relaxed with his voice.
God damn, the progress of improvement on your narrations from even just a few months ago has drastically increased.
So what actually happened at the end there? It sounded like a helicopter, but I don’t understand how that’s the folly of his ways
Sometimes ambient sounds like helicopters or gunshots will happen and make the hordes move around.
The helicopter is basically a death sentence to anyone not prepared as its not there to help you, instead just attracts the hordes as you see
The helicopter is a random PZ event that can bring a massive zombie horde to where it's localized at. (They follow sources of noise.) It often happens around the 6 day mark, though sometimes it comes later. Usually the helicopter only hovers over areas it sees activity - though it'll follow you directly if you wander around outside while it's active. In this case, it's hard to say why it decided to hover over AA's shelter - could be something cut from the actual video, or it might just be really bad luck. Either way, it brought a horde that was way too big for his fortifications or his ability to fight, and if he hadn't fled when he did, he could've easily been trapped and overrun there.
'The folly of his ways' likely refers to the fact that he thought he could afford to stop being paranoid due to fortifications that would make his safehouse safe from the occasional zombie or wandering cluster of undead, when they weren't remotely sufficient for a full-scale horde the likes of which PZ threw at him almost as soon as he'd finished wasting time on measures that wouldn't be nearly enough to protect him for what was to come.
i think the folly is just that he opened the curtains, revealing his position
