Singapore, Malaysia police to beef up cooperation after joint crackdown on remote betting group

- Singapore and Malaysia police have vowed to beef up cooperation to fight crimes, which are increasingly becoming borderless. Senior officers from both sides made this point at a joint media event in Johor Bahru, just one week after a joint crackdown on an illegal remote betting syndicate. 43 people were arrested during the raid, including four Singaporeans in Johor Bahru. Cash, jewellery, luxury watches and more than 40 bank accounts worth nearly $4 million were seized. At least nine suspects have been charged in Singapore with illegal gambling.
Most of the servers used by betting sites:
- are owned by Chinese 🇨🇳 triads,
- originate from Cambodia 🇰🇭, and
- are operated by thousands of Indonesians 🇮🇩.
The police report against Heng was swiftly dismissed while the reports against Khan remain hanging over her head.
Why is it that the police reports against both PAP stalwarts are so swiftly dismissed while Khan’s are still unresolved?
Is this not a fair question to be asked? Is this not something the police ought to address?

Apart from the police report filed against Ong, there were also police reports filed against the PAP’s Heng Swee Keat and the WP’s Raeesah Khan. Both had related to comments that have been construed as racist in nature.
