I almost didn’t do it. I have been wanting to try it for a couple of years. I hated the way it looked before lol - after it was finished, I ended up loving it. It actually looks much better in person than on the video and we have just finished doing new floors that really set it off.
So what colour did Mrs 731 decide to become in the end 🤔 Oriental geisha girl?. Hope you guy's had a great Christmas and a Happy Newyear ! As always guy's 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
It’s not uncommon to paint brick with limewash paint. Its an aesthetic a lot of people go for. It’s a little easier to remove than regular paint once it completely dries, but still takes some work.
It is only reversible the first 2 days (easily). After it cures, it becomes highly durable. It is still removable, but takes work, like lesr131 says. I really want to redo my kitchen counters and backsplash, so this was just an easy and inexpensive way to change it up until I do. I hated the backsplash the way it was before lol
It took me a couple of days before I decided if I liked it or not lol - I actually love it now. The video shows our kitchen before our new floors. It actually looks much better in person.
I think it just felt dated to me because I installed it years ago, with my house decorated in dark green and mustard gold lol - I think it’s one of those things that just fit people differently. If it’s any consolation, Matt liked the original way too. He says he likes it this way also, but I really think he liked it better before 🤣
I have to agree with you, the paint makes it look cheap sloppy and unfinished. If you want a cheaper way to go, head over to your nearest dollar store and get yourself some self adhesive floor tiles, they come in thousands of different styles and look better than that
@@markolsen7438 I love it. I just don’t think it’s for everyone. It makes me smile every time I walk in my kitchen and that is invaluable to me. I promise there are things in your house that I would not like, I may even think they look cheap, sloppy, or unfinished; however, I would have enough respect not to tell you that. I just don’t understand why people have to be mean, instead of having different tastes. At the end of the day, it is in MY kitchen….so…..
Just to be clear, it takes about 2 days to cure, and after that it’s there for good and you can wash it down and it will stay or is there a top coated sealer required?
It is extremely durable once it has cured. This can even be done on the exterior of your home. Others have said that it can be removed through a “process”, after it is cured, but I don’t know if it actually can or not. There is a sealer that is optional. I did not use the sealer. It also looks a bit different after it is fully cured. It doesn’t have the “chalky” look now that it is fully cured. You can do a thicker layer as well, you can play around with the level of coverage.
From woodworker to content creator to DIY home upgrader! Just an all around do everything kinda guy, with the help of course of Mrs. 731.
Looks great! We did this same thing to a stone wall by watering down some white paint.
She is so cute!
Mia’s approval is all that matters, really.
Looked better the way it was.

Make me wanna re do my kitchen as well
I am sorry but this makes little sense to me, why would one want to do this? Is it reversible?

Looks great
I really like the original backsplash better. What was dated about it?

@@kodajetoutlaw Sorry but I grew up in a world where we were truthful and not to be politically correct. And yes everyone has an opinion

Are there any updates on what it looks like after it's cured?
Under 50 sounds great
