In this tutorial, I'll show you how to use the polymer clay slab cane technique to create stunning heart-shaped soap embeds with soap dough. This innovative method adds a unique and beautiful touch to your handmade soaps and can be adapted any way you’d like.
Soap Dough: For soap dough I used paper cups with mica. I let the soap set up a bit and pressed plastic wrap directly onto the soap to create a tight seal. Then I wrapped the cups tight. The next day or after a few days I removed the dough from the cups and wrapped again in plastic wrap until I was ready to use.
You should wrap your soap dough embeds with plastic wrap until ready to use so they don’t get hard.
***BONUS: if you have a clay extruder with a large one hole opening, you can do this quicker and get uniform little logs 😁
You can see how I did this in my GEN X 80’s Soap Video Here: • Gen X 1980’s Inspired ...

Recipe: Please Run Through SoapCalc for your batch size- SoapCalc will also give your total water/lye ratio. You can adjust your ratio as well.
    I soap at 90 Degrees F
My normal water Discount is at 37% (1.7:1)
    5% SF
    Castor Oil 5%
    Coconut Oil 25%
    Cocoa Butter 5%
    Olive Oil 25%
    Lard - Manteca 20%
    Palm Oil 20%
This makes a nice hard bar for me.
Salt OR Sodium Hydroxide (Used to harden faster for unmolding - I am very impatient!!)
I used 1 Tablespoon of table salt added to my distilled water and fully dissolved before adding NAOH in my 2000g recipe.
    Micas used: Mad Micas Neons
Fragrance Used: Soapers Choice Satsuma (Please read IFRA guidelines from your fragrance supplier for usage rates.)
CPOP method: Set oven to 170F and turn off once preheated.
Once soap is slightly set I spray with RA and cover and place in oven for about an hour with this recipe. Then I uncover and let it cool on the counter for a few hours.
Please note: Not all recipes will gel completely with this method. I sometimes leave in oven for a few hours or overnight. This particular recipe doesn’t need as long for me.

How awesome! Do you use this same recipe for your soap dough? I’m having a TIME with soap dough!😢 it’s just too hard, what I have done.

I do. Without the salt. I struggled too and once I used this recipe and put in paper cups and laid the plastic wrap directly onto the still wet but setup soap to form a seal it worked. This is how I do it now. You can see me doing it (although quickly) in my GenX Soap video. Let it sit for at least three or four days. Mine usually sits longer. Make sure absolutely no air gets to it.
      Hope this helps

Oh…also after a few days when the dough is firm I remove from cups and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Lots of layers. More than you think you should..just add more.
