Raphchan is the embodiment of Naofumi and Raphtalia's bond so no wonder that she became Naofumi's favorite petting thing in no time.
Where was this little fury of cuteness during the pandemic when everybody was stressed out? This girl could definitely helped heal a lot of people.

I read through all of the light novels last year, and I adores the addition of Raph-chan. The "child" aspect gives me a bit of joy in my yearning for Raphtalia to have her feelings for Naofumi acknowledged, and what happens because of Raph-chan in the future of Shield Bro makes for some very interesting situations. I'm reading the manga now, and am just after the part where they torture those assholes for tormenting Filo. >:(
I do hope that we get to see Raph chan in the next season pretty soon bc I like the character she reminds me of puck mixed with happy from fairy tail

Since we got announcement of both Season 2 and 3 at the end of the 1st season, I'm guessing we'll not be seeing Raph-chan until Season 3.
If they do the same number of episodes in season 2 as in 1 then Raph should show up like half way through season 2
That is a frustrating thing about adaptations, is they skip so god damned much and burn through referrence materials, that you can have 60 chapters condensed into a single season, or 1 chapter per ep, but you also risk stalling momentum or wasting time if an extra season isnt gurenteed.
Whenever I think back on how Raph was made in the Web Novel, it still cracks me up (ch 277-288) *Kinda spoiler*
Shield-bro unlocked a new set of deadly sins shields which made him go crazy (temporary) and talk funny. He then decided: 1) the world is polluted; 2) he needs to wipe out a part of humanity; 3) fight the waves with the chosen few survivors.
When he invited Rapthalia to plan world domination, she went WTF and was about to smack some sense back to him.
Naofumi was like: "Why doth Raphtalia deny me!?" and came to the conclusion that she is an impostor sent to assassinate him.
Using a skull-shaped bioplant-monster flying castle he devised with the gene-modification shield, he skedaddled away to "remodify the world".
The best part - some of his allies join him, just to troll (Firo, Motoyasu, and Atlas).
Once Naofumi did a global DNA search and found only one person in the world with Rapthalia's DNA, he got the idea that she must be dead and replaced by the impostor.
Now, mad with grief and crazier than before, he was like "Okay. Let’s make reviving Raphtalia the first step to my World Domination."
With events unfolding and coming closer to "perfectly resurrect my ideal Raphtalia" he created the Raph tanuki race (and a machine to mass-produce then).
If a dog goes "woof" and a cat "meow", then the Raph race goes "Raph" (1st gen), "tali~" (2nd gen) and "lia!" (3rd gen) （=｀〜´=）
...at the end Naofumi was healed by the power of Rapthalia's boobs (again). Oh, and the Raphs still yell ''Fake!'' every time they see Rapthalia.
..........wait.....i don't remember that happening in the light novel. 🤣

So not only do Naofumi and Raphtalia have a chicken but they also now have a little baby raccoon..... OK I swear I would want to have Raph-chan use like a gun and shoot things while also having a best friend who is a tree and says Groot. In any event considering how popular rising of the shield hero is I seriously think that season 2 will most likely follow in the episodes length of having 24 just like the 1st season. There will come a time when Filo gets a magical morning star(that creates pillars of fire wherever it hits something) and she starts using it as a throwing weapon.
In LN book 10 this is used by at first Filo sitting on Naofumis shoulder before launching at the enemy and tossing the weapon at the enemy in mid-flight.
As for Raph-chan, she will usually sit on someones(usually Naofumi) shoulder or on top of their head and use magic.

the only merch i've gotten is bonus extras in DVD/BR sets. like the acrylic standee from 'Deathmarch Parallel World Rhapsody'... a peculiar cardboard 'book' box that my old old OLD copy of 'Witch-hunter Robin' came in and some other goodies i forget what they were... a tiny, and terribly made plushie of Kiba from 'Wolf's Rain'... various art/post-cards, books, booklets from other disk purchases too numerous to mention... i don't go LOOKING for disk sets with extras! i don't WANT extra special, super secret squirrel editions! but if that's all they're making and selling... shrug... :(( i guess that's all i can buy sometimes. :((
but if i found a good looking official Raph-chan for under $50 without world-wide shipping costs? i'd definitely think damn hard about buying that. i've got the 1st season on disk and i love the show!
