I love seeing Protoss actually win fights and not just get run over
That's the issue with Protoss, one small tweak and the unit becomes OP or is nerfed to the ground.
The one day I decide to not care about spoiler shield this is the top comment…
I feel like something is so wrong with protoss unit design. Rarely watch them and always disappointing when I do. Maybe its because everything in SC2 is made of paper and dies in 0.3 seconds, even big bulky units that look tough but get one shotted
@@willywonka6487 LOL, nah its because terrans have the OP ghosts who will knock out all of the shields on the Protoss and make the Archons become paper machete. Protoss units are too expensive and too slow, you get caught with your pants down when you travel across the map without recall on CD.
Classic paced himself and dismantled the zerg at their own game. Its lovely.
Funny seeing Classic using Immortal/Sentry timings, since they're the most classic of all PvZ builds. Lol.
13:10 zergling counter attack
singular
the violent bug dogo was trying its best against the probes
10:11 I don't think that's glass Lowko, I think its a holo field same as some slow/speed zones have so its different elevation :D
That was such an over commitment to corruptors
4:10 to 4:18 that stalker dancing though 😂
Its refreshing to actually see Protoss win more as of late (since the balance patch). The Tempest however always feels useless. Id love to see some kind of rework like for the Raven. Or maybe add an upgrade like rapid fire for 3 seconds.
Honestly anytime you see a top-level toss build a fleet beacon they already lost
I think tempest is unit that's fucked by design. They are unit that has super long range that's also quite microable (air+ it moves faster than other capital ships) thus unit always come with potential to be pretty oppressive if they're good enough in straight up combat. And if you balance them around constant kiting and slow engagement they become useless in direct fight like they are now. Balancing Tempest without murdering flavor is near impossible as result.
@@allhailderpfestor4839 They could have a "Siege mode"
Like the Liberator its a specialist unit & fulfills the niche well. I don't get that change, it wouldn't meaningfully add to its design, just make it more of a brawler which is not what Protoss needs, which looking at the pro level balance stats is nothing.
There are far more important units to talk about redesigning, not because they're weak but just because they're horrible to use and either do terrible damage or nothing... here's looking at you Disruptor lol.
@@allhailderpfestor4839 I believe the tempest is a great unit, just not really built to be used without the main army, nor in big numbers. You only need 2-3 of them really to weaken heavy hitting enemy units while the main army keeps them safe. So they shouldn't strafe far from the main army. If they are gonna stray away, keep them separate from each other rather than bulked up and at the edges of enemy territory.
What it really lacks is simply sight. Add maybe +2 vision range and it becomes a fantastic harassment tool without changing the game too much. It forces zerg to build a couple corruptors as well, which can then be made into brood lords, which forces protoss to deal with them.
I think it would add more range to pvz.
Interesting composition, Mr. Classic
A classic one
I loved this one!!! Really shows that there is still a lot of different ways to play!!
That Stalker at a rave living his best life 3:50.
I think its force fields on alcyone not glass
Some of the most entertaining Protoss play wow
Also Lowko you're great at what you do!
Those lurkers getting roasted was hot. Wow!!! My pro-plant mind is so happy.
its not glass its an energy shield
18:55 Nerdgasm
That Swarm Host in the thumbnail looks funny
what swarm host lol
Oompa Loompa doo-pa-dee do / I've got another puzzle for you / Oompa Loompa doo-pa-dah dee / If you are wise you'll listen to me /
Errr, no Lowko. The worst unit in the game is whatever unit i have selected at the time. This is why i am in bronze
TLDR: The Tempest does indeed suck, and needs rebalancing to both fire faster and move faster.
Exactly…slow firing would be ok if it REALLY PACKED A PUNCH, but the slow firing with mediocre damage just doesn’t make sense to me
Or... The damage dealt would last for couple of seconds. Like the Disintegration upgrade used against the buildings. At least.
Love your videos dude!
Magnifique c'était incroyable 😍
Weird question. What if we gave resources hp or made them lose their quantity when attacked?
Thanks for the video, Lowko. Drones sleep with one eye open thanks to those Adepts.
I still remember when lowkow was a toss player
ok, as a new player in silver 2 im a little confused. I thought that tempest was a pretty crucial build in some matchups? like being the main big punisher for terrans who dont realize they shouldnt build mech, or other turtlers, and good to confirm a snipe on an important unit, like building 7 in PvP to instakill collosi. What's different to make people consider it one of the weakest units? I've always thought that every unit available was at least good enough to be viable to build SOMEwhere...
Tempests are not something you want Vs Mech, Thors annihilate them. More useful against late game PvT against Bio to counter Liberators. Likewise they are not something you would want in PvP due to the prevalence of Mass Stalkers. In PvZ a Brood counter is their main use, they can work against Lurkers like they did here but a better Zerg probably would have taken much better engagements and not lost to it.
@@hivetech4903 hm, I thought I remembered hearing elsewhere that Tempest was a pretty important unit in PvP lategame, mightve been on liquipedia? Seems this game has been getting patches more frequently, recently, and with bigger changes than I originally thought - I thought the game's been pretty much unchanged for the past 5 or 6 years or so, with the last major patch being a few years after LotV
Keep in mind that skill-level also determines what is "good".
E.g. phoenix can be useless garbage in the hands of one person, but game-changing in the hands of another
I like using tempests exclusively against terrans and lurkers. It’s therapeutic to snipe siege tanks, Medivacs and lurkers, it’s great. Are they good? Debatable. Are they fun? Hell yeah.
Best of 5 in less than 30 minutes, we all know how it is going to end for the Zerg 😂
Lowko's brain ravagered his understanding of English.
Immortals are just sofa king cool man
Compared to so many of the other recent games, no contest here.
my favourite part was the "69 NICE". 69 literally flashed for half a second. tis destiny
Archon, immortal, high templar is the best
ok, this is crazy
when looking at the videos in your recommended, do any of you alternate reading the thumbnail and the title?
i read "the worst sucks tempest... or does it?"
Getting VSauce vibes with this title
Spoiler:
Apparently, toss can transition well in the game when they slow the game down and pace themselves Harass, attack, expand , attack, harass.
Trying to just macro up then build a death ball and a-move can work, but I'm not a fan of it cause. GJ classic.
🛡️
A best of 5 in less than 30 minutes? Its either cheese vs cheese or someone dominates 3-0
More viewer submitted games pls. Once a week would be cool
if your opponent has to make a specefic unit to counter your uit, then your unit cant be considered 'worst unit of the race' cause it makes you win the game some hom..... think about it
lol about Formula 1. I would be that half of the Archon. "Let's talk about McLaren's tire choice in the Australian Grand Prix"
How can it be worst when swarm hosts exist?
Mutalisks are worse imo.

I think tempest are a much better unit than carriers. They are cheaper and easier to get and a group of about half dozen of them to pick of units while posturing or snipe casters is very useful. And they make your zerg opponents waste tons of recourses if they want to counter them in the air. Going carriers just takes way too much investment to make them even marginally affective and they can be hard countered in so many way. In the games I have watched going for Carriers is almost always a mistake.
Yeah, except carriers have 2.2x the damage output, and scale much better with upgrades (7.5 dps per upgrade for the carrier as opposed to 1.69 for the tempest). With +3 upgrades, carriers will do 2.7x the damage of tempest (ignoring armor). So per resource, carriers are far superior. Tempests are slow, can't see as far as they can shoot (so they need a spotter unit), overkill like CRAZY, and their fire rate is atrocious. Carriers will trade decently against anything and don't require you to micro that much, mostly just position properly. Tempest will gladly spend a full volley to kill a single hydralisk/corruptor, and they don't split damage like the siege tanks do to avoid overkill either.
If you want to snipe casters as Protoss, the High Templar is a significantly cheaper and better option. Casters will absolutely demolish tempest if you make more than 2. Infestors with neural, vipers, etc.
@@Iaotle Damage doesn't matter if you can't hit anything with them. They also scale backwards more w/ enemy armour upgrades since they do chip damage. They also take more supply and are easier to shut down and constantly drain your minerals. Carriers almost always lose games.
@@DSzaks nah, they only lose games at peak MMR. Zergs will make 20 spores and corruptor balls to handle carriers specifically. Terrans will do something similar. Carriers will scale back with armor, sure, but tempests require a separate control group, and generally you will not get as much value out of them due to either vipers, corruptors, thors, ling runbys, drops, etc. Carriers are significantly less of a hassle to integrate into your composition, and in army fights (which is what you will force with tempests if the opponent isn't bad) they create more chaos. Minerals are also never the problem for toss.
Co zsa asy
Toss imba. I think that immortal needs a nerf to balance things out.
starcraft players when protoss wins one singular bo5:
The fact that zerg is always up in supply faster than toss and can execute an a-move is the reason we need hero units like immortal to show them who's boss. WP creator.
@@TrixterTheFemboy It's a bit more than that, PvZ has been Protoss favoured outside the absolute tiptop level since January 2021. There's been a grand total of two months where the matchup hasn't been solidly Protoss favoured. One time it was even, the other was one single month of Zerg favour. It's also easily the most imbalanced matchup of the three nonmirrors in terms of how far it deviates from a 50-50 winrate - in fact it's the only matchup that's broken the 55-45 barrier, and has done so multiple times.
😶🌫️
ngl the special sound effect for "nice" is kinda cringe.
but they are one now so they both like formula 1 xD
Toss lost
Needless to say, Protoss overpowered!
You're funny man, sir. I don't even remember if they ever were OP, and I play the Starcraft since SC1 era
They're just relatively balanced now. Terran is OP, Zerg seem to be balanced after the last NERF actually.
@@patrikhala1910 Terran is unambiguously underpowered now, sir. But thanks for sharing your opinions
bro i know ur entire vocations clickbaiting a dead game but really? tempest suck lol?
I'm coolest
