All General Lee Jumps (1979-2000)

- I had originally intended to upload this following James Best's passing last April. But nonetheless, the video is here. This includes all General Lee jumps from the majority of Dukes episodes, from Season 1 through 7, all in chronological order from my personal Dukes of Hazzard collection, all 7 Seasons and both Reunion movies. And yes, included are the much hated miniature jumps used in Season 7. Also included are the jumps in The Dukes Of Hazzard: Reunion! (Even though it's just recycled footage from the show) and The Dukes Of Hazzard: Hazzard In Hollywood. Enjoy!

Growing up with the Dukes, the A-Team and Knight Rider, I always thought jumping cars were normal 😆
yeah! and bumping sides and pushing cars off the road.
Yeah, me too! Add the Fall Guy to that list too. Then I grow up and get my first Chevelle Malibu and realize there aren't ramps placed around cool locations at random for me to jump. What a disappointment!
I pity the fools who didn't get to grow up in the 80's.
i love dukes knight rider and the A team
Yeah, only to find out that those were risky, but epic stunts.

Now a moment of silence for all the chargers that gave their lives for our entertainment
You should replace the narrator and say that everytime the car it's about to land. Don't forget the southern accent. Lol
By my estimates, roughly 50 or more in this video.
right??? they would always cut right after it landed so u didn’t see the full extent of the damage
James Holt, that isn't true in the slightest. Look it up, they wrecked a ton of cars. They estimate that the show wrecked at least 300 Chargers.
@@comaster2 what's wrong with Waylon Jennings
Poor Roscoe, he never figured out he could just drive over to their house and wait for them to come home.
Haha
@quinnjim He never found alternatives to catching them
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol 😂
well even if he tried that Uncle Jesse and Daisy would've chased him away probably :)
The roar of the engine, the huge tail slides, the jumps, Daisy Duke, what a show!!!
Yeah!! But the amount of time and money spent on the replacement of shock absorbers and coil springs after each "jump" of General Lee must have been staggering !!!!!!!
Im of mexican decent, grew up in the good ol USA! That confederate flag isn't no Confederate Flag, it's The Flag of Southern Culture, The Duke boys, and The General Lee!!!!
Amazing how as a kid I never noticed any damage and always thought the General to be indestructible. I was so excited every time they jumped now I cringe a bit each time for those Chargers.
Not me, the faster they're gone the better. I used to work on these POS's. I never want to see one again as long as I live
@@Thousand_yard_King simple engineering? Lots of room to work on? Nice big engine, what’s wrong with them? Genuinely curious
See at 01:35 they demolish the very FIRST GENERAL LEE WITH CHROME ROCKER PANELS !!! Of about 340...
Same for all the Trans ams that were used in Knight Rider
I read somewhere they destroyed two hundred and eighty something chargers over the course of the doh series.

This came out at the perfect age, I just have been single digits. When I watch now, I see that probably every single jump in this montage would have totalled the car and put its occupants in a hospital for months. Love how they just grin and shake it off like each jump was a speed bumb.
I wish the makers of the show had the foresight to make a reel of the all jump sequences to include the aftermath of each car. I would buy it!
Out of curiosity, I would too.
Yesssss please iv searched everywhere to find them good Ol' jump tapes. You just can't find it. The closest you can get is looking up that Ohio state guy that puts on Dukes of Hazzard Shows and still jumps the General. Well its really CrownVic but. Yea you get the point. Great show and a huge part of my child hood. Used to come home from school watch them and record the jump scenes on VHS
I would buy it also just for the satisfaction of seeing all this destroyed Dodge chargers. I hate those things, of course I'm biased because I used to have to work on them. What pieces of garbage they were
Of course at 01:35 they demolish the very FIRST GENERAL LEE WITH CHROME ROCKER PANELS !!!
The General Lee will always be the hardest working Star Car on television. What Paul Baxley did with his crew was amazing back in the day of real stunts. Long live the General Lee the best TV car of all time!
Colt Seaver's GMC truck was hard working too ! And K.I.T.T. was also a frequent flyer !
Heck, even the A-Team's van was jumping from time to time.
Only Starstky's "red tomato" was afraid of heights ...
Melmacian Dissenter , Yes they are all honorable mentions, but in my book, The General Lee is #01!!
What's amazing about these stunts is they will never be replicated, it would cost the networks too much money. I heard that Dukes was one of the first tv shows to put cameras on the car to get the great shots they got.
Christine as well 1958 Plymouth Fury they used 17 of them alot were gone after the movie was shot.

Oh the days of watching this in my grandmas living room. Sweet sweet memories
My absolute favorite part of the show as a kid (and adult)! What a thing of beauty when the General took flight, but some of those landings look ROUGH! 😖
Unitized construction. The car was totaled as it landed.
My brother and I would get so excited for the show. We had no idea of the episode plot, but waited for the sweet jumps. And yes, we would yell YEEHAWW as my parents were thoroughly amused.
I've been in the same room with John Schneider (Bo) just last year at a small concert with maybe 200 people and he is the nicest, kindest and comical and talented person. Plays guitar and sings and entertains. Great person.
I got to see him just last summer for my birthday thanks to my mom ❤❤ I gave him a well detailed drawing of the general and he said it was pretty good, then proceeded to get into line a second time cuz I forgot questions
Pessimo attore. Magari sa cantare meglio di come recita di merda
John is one class act…he was my hero as a kid.. and he is my role model as an adult. I love that man!
You ever stop to think about whether or not them Duke boys spend their evenings driving around Hazard county setting up small piles of dirt to use as launch ramps?
Yeah always a random ramp in the convenient place
Did they existed in real life?
What really allowed them to successfully jump a car was the banjo music
Cold packs on their lower backs and chiropractic appointments, mostly. 😉
I can't imagine the jolt on those drivers' spines during some of those flatter landings...😬

That was the number one reason we watched this show was to see the General LEE jump over stuff. After all the car was the star of the show.the Dukes were just along for ride so to speak. That and a look at Daisy wasn’t bad either.🛠👍
So freaking awesome to see a charger fly through the air. Every Time it lands though it totals the car which makes it even better to watch as they quickly cut to the in car shot straight after.
See at 01:35 they demolish the very FIRST GENERAL LEE WITH CHROME ROCKER PANELS !!!
Just imagine fishing minding your business on a peaceful afternoon, then all of a sudden Dixieland horn and a car just casually jumping over you and the creek you're fishing in. God bless the 80s lol.
When they land on the other side you can walk over and tell them how foolish they were, cos they ain't driving nowhere now!!!!!!!!!!. Actually, you may end up with a cheap Dodge Charger, so, Happy Days....... EErr No, wrong series, anyway, you get the idea.....

The real reason the show got cancelled was because of an outstanding bill from the mechanic who had to fix 2,783 broken axels.

They had a minimum of 14 cars per episode.
They went to miniature General Lee's season 6 and 7.
@@cmontes7961 yep and the. Changed back to real cars because the viewer ship went down
Me to. Lol When I got older my dad told me to pay attention to the color of the dashboard. Sometimes it’s black. Other times it’s brown or red etc after a jump. That blew my mind. Lol
I think it's safe to say they had a blast making this show.

@@danopo how right you are! Allow me to rephrase that. I thought every jump they made was with ONE CAR. That it came out totally unscathed. General lee: does better than most 4x4s and more flight time than any plane has ever had
My logical adult brain is now watching this thinking "The construction workers in their town must HATE them"😄 I love how they paused in the middle of the jumps for the narrator to talk, that was always really suspenseful as a kid.
I love when they cut away just a little too late, and you can see the whole front end of the car starting to come apart.
NOTE: For EVERYBODY who asks "Why does it say 2000" or "I didn't know it ran until 2000", the reason it says (1979-2000) is because I included BOTH REUNION movies with the original cast, The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! and The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood. And no, don't ask me why I didn't include the 2005 movie jumps because the 2005 movie didn't feature the ORIGINAL CAST. Hopefully now you people will stop asking. Thank you.
Why does it say 2000 again?
SonnyBurnett1988 the 2005 movie was complete shit
If you remove the scenes with actors, it definitely has the best car chases of a Dukes of Hazzard, though. The car chase in Atlanta has the absolute best drifting ever done in a Dodge Charger.

Thanks for posting this. This car and show was everything to a 7 year old boy.
That train yard jump was an amazing shot.
The barrel they hit on the ramp flew further than they did!!
I read the stuntman hit the ramp at a nice 80 mph on that train jump!! One of my favorite jumps on the show was the train!!
What a great show that was! I remember my mom serving me dinner on my Dukes of Hazzard plastic plate and milk in my Dukes of Hazzard plastic cup. Great times they were.
Thank you sonny best compilation ever!
We used to always watch the general Lee, it was my favourite program still is.
pause at 4:00 ..... I like it how they always fly like 25 feet high and 60 feet far, but need absolutely NO seat belts and in the close shot they shake their heads a bit and say "phew" XD
Yes. They used for each jump another car, because the old one was totally destroyed. Same with KITT: One jump and the car was wrecked. OF COURSE, Michael Knight also NEVER needed a seat belt. Also a head rest was totally unnecessary. They also used a 200kg metal plate in the trunk of the General Lee, so the car was landing (almost) on its 4 wheels. Normally, a car would ram its front into the bottom.
My personal favorite one was the Carnival of Thrills jump. General Lee leaves the ramp then starts nosing down to the stacked cars, then in the next shot he's nose up and landing rear end first in the asphalt. wish they'd have edited it just a bit better. Lol
I also like how they both land at different times in the same car... Lol
Actually, for Knight Rider they did indeed build a jump car that was re-usable for the smaller jumps. It had a fiberglass body and was the car with the silver flat bottom. The larger jumps still used stock Pontiacs that were sacrificed for spectacular scenes.
sum say they're still in the air....

I'd keep the General Lee rather than sell. Be awesome to jump in that thing
I own one and I'll never sell it!
@billyfromtheusa oh nöooooo
this is a real charger not like the ones today
Don't y'all just love the General Lee going up in the air looking pertty like that. Like Walton would say
It was Waylon, but yeah. Deffo pretty
I think it is because of this series that there are not so many Charger of this model in America, no car gets out of these heels unhurt, it compromises the entire structure and functioning of the car, but I recognize that this series was very fun and inspiring ❤️👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
#68 and69 Charger live's matter
Austin Dreyer they also used the 79 and changed a few things
And 70s
There was no charger in 1979 and no 70's were used
BLM these days lol
@@fubarmodelyard1392 I think the "79" was a typo and you're right, no 70's models were used just 68's and 69's with them changing the lights from 68's to match 69's which is what the General Leee was
TV: dukes get away
REAL LIFE: Their insides liquify from the shock and car explodes
car wouldnt explode and they wouldnt die.
bills on both would be hella expensive tho
Nice imagination, but no. czcams.com/video/vAIbz6SPWFU/video.html
The reality is the frames bent apart on the landings.
@@joshuaespinoza8325 darla who is this
Allan Wyatt drove the car and did the jumps on SOME of te episodes. Look him up, may he rest in peace. A great stuntman.
Al Wyatt actually did the majority of the jumps along with the Baxleys (Craig and Gary), Jack Gill, Corey Eubanks and Tom Sarmento
My favorite part, I saw it all as it happened over the years. That first episode got me hooked in the 70's...
Fact:
Not one wild duck 🦆 was injured during every pond jump .
14:11 Luke; "I think we're airborne." Bo's response if this show was made today..."No shit Luke!"
Seriously lol
Saw this when I was a kid. Loved it. This show would never be made today.
Standard Friday night line up. Loved every moment❣✌💞
This is awesome. Thanks for posting. I had forgotten how bad those miniatures were. Watching it now vs. when I was 8 makes a difference.
I dunno, they were a decent scale and filmed in daylight in quick cuts. Maybe better shocks on the models but I reckon they did a decent enough job
I like how it just drives away after those jumps when you can clearly see the whole suspension has caved in once it lands 😂😂
A million thanks for that Video, gotta be the best collection I've seen 👍👌
Apparently Hazard County was named in honor of all the construction workers who had to wave flags at the General Lee before it rammed through the ramp construction sites they were protecting. By the way, why the HECK were there so many construction guys building ramps in front of creeks in Hazard County???
Really the full length of an original episode. Great job! Best video I have seen yet!!
Yep some lucky bastard had to sit and watch every episode from start to finish and record every jump. I envy that man
