- Rumors for COD 2026 and COD 2027 dropped today pointing toward potential reboots for Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Even if these rumors turn out to be nothing but smoke in mirrors I still had a fun time discussing it!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Sledgehammer Games for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows. It is the twentieth game in the Call of Duty franchise, and the sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
Its first teaser was released on August 7th, 2023 and will be fully revealed on August 17th, 2023 in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 as part of Season Five live event, while the game will be fully released on November 10th, 2023. - Hry

Same aw was great I think it just was ahead of it’s time but I always said I loved the customization in aw I think it was the best cod for it we can change gloves and boots specifically and I zombies was great minus the emp zombies lol they were annoying but aw zombies just seemed more difficult which I liked it felt like it actually took more skill rather then just good guns like treyarchs zombies if they found a good balance of both I think it could of been some of the best zombies gameplay we have gotten

Extinction MW3 survival mode or make a Safeguard 2.0 mode kinda like mw3 survival mode but better.
Hey here's a thought....let's create a brand new damn Call of Duty title and call it something new....why the reboots and the 1 2 3 4 5 6....be creative and create a new storyline...

A sequel to a game the majority of Call of Duty's current demographic have not played is not a smart idea. A reboot is more likely if at all for this "leak"

Honestly, CoD Ghosts as a story was just so fundamentally flawed that it really has nowhere to go.
"All of south america unified to destroy the US" - beyond "they're all brown", how the hell is that viable? Like, these are all nations with their own histories, languages, cultures, and even history of infighting (especially due to involvement by colonial powers such as Spain, Argentina, Portugal, and America). I'm not saying a change in the usual baddies couldn't work, but the Federation would need a lot more of a reason to join together that would make sense.
"The US is the underdog" except it wasn't because it still had a bunch of tanks, drones, etc.
Hell the main plot of the game is that South America takes over the US's Giant Death Space Gun. Because nothing says "Underdog" like "Unparalleled dominance over the aerospace weaponry sector".

They should have both Extinction and a version of Extinction that takes a large section of each Extinction Level and turns it into Round-Based Extinction. The reason I say this? Extinction lacked replayability. If they had Round-Based Extinction with some way to Pack a Punch, or something like that, that'd be a huge QoL addition that would keep me comin' back for more over time.
Ghosts and AW deserved sequels not reboots. IMO.
But Ghosts definally deserved it. Making a game left in a cliffhanger and rebooting it makes absolute 0 sense at a time like this.
Agreed, albeit I wasn’t the biggest fan of AW, I was of Ghosts even with how bad it was dogged on but I’d love to see them both again, especially Ghosts with the campaign cliffhanger
Problem is that all the games now are trying to become connected through warzone, so either they reboot or do a lot of retcons

Since a Ghosts focused game and AW game making a comeback with a reboot then extinction and exo zombies deserve to comeback aswell with both being rebooted. They were great modes.
Agreed, Extinction really only lacked in variety because you were so limited to what you could do compared to Zombies but it was still an amazing game mode, just lacked the replay ability

I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring back the original Ghosts characters and mix it with the main character Simon “Ghost” Riley. What I loved about AW was that it created a skill gap between players. Imagine we have this skill gap in Warzone.
COD 2026 will just be the same as MWII and MWIII. AW2 might be good though
Cod 2024 and 2025 will be too, 3arc are using the MW engine not the CW engine. Game will be MW19 DLC v4

It’s very ironic that the community wanted boots on the ground post IW, but after all these years of what was asked for, we’re seemingly going back and people want it to happen.

Futuristic movement is fine so long as it’s like BO3 movement and IW movement. AW movement felt so primitive, but it was the first one
Ghost gets so much hate for no reason only because of the fast TTK and map design but aside from that the gun play was incredible and extinction the campaign even to was great mind you still one of the biggest cliffhangers in cod history
Careful with Cod nostalgia. It’s full of rose tinted glasses and childhood bias.
I know why I disliked Ghost ONLINE. The maps were simply bad… but campaign and extinction were Godtier and the DLC was the best in COD history with Michael Myers, Predator, etc.
That’s the realm of personal opinion and a respectable one at that. But the fact that drives people insane is the following.
GHOST TIME TO KILL WASNT INSANE! We are talking PS3/360 era COD. Back then gaming technology was much worse and the concept here is HIT DETECTION.
Bullets and TTK were similar to MW2-3 in Ghosts. But because they are Infinity Ward AKA the kings of not making the game buggy, the result was the best hit detection of any previous COD, which lead to feeling like a new TTK in practice although not being the deadliest in theory.
I stand by this 1000%. A game like BO2 wouldn’t stand today, MW2023 proved that since they literally brought the best maps in COD history.
I hope they bring back supply drops but you can only get them from leveling up (every 5 then advanced drop every 10 levels) or by completing challenges
If ghosts comes back and it isn’t post apocalyptic there’s 0 point to do it. Being spec ops in a dystopian post apocalyptic world was the entire appeal in the first place
I honestly would want both of those games tired of ww2 games and now these new MW games are literally just becoming the new WW2 they need to bring in different stuff
Yes while WWII can be good a great setting, i feel if it's sanitized and hollywoodized like WW2 or Vanguard then it's not worth it.
The grounded and brutal nature of World at War is exactly why people fondly remember that game, also the lack of attachments really grounded the experience, especially with the lack of attachments in the campaign.
I don't want them to return to WWII unless it's set in a new setting or in the Pacific/Russian front again. I also think they gotta keep it heavily grounded and basic. Like they've gotta be a stickler for realism, otherwise it won't stick and most people won't be as invested.
I personally feel they should just stick with the modern era or cold war (1960-2000's) setting and futuristic fictional stuff. It allows the most creative freedom without having to be adherent to realism.

They finally made a somewhat compelling story and the wait from 2019 to 2022 was KILLER!
MW4 Ghost : After Shepherd death, TF141 is disavowed and Graves in jail being sus and accused. TF141 will become Ghost Team where Gaz and Ghost in this Reboot will shine in the spotlight comparing to the OG timeline where they died early. Their mission is to hunt down Makarov, Nolan, Victor Zakhaev and Valeria. We can also see a cameo of Rorke as Valeria's right hand.
Laswell, Alex and Farah are in danger. It's their last chance to do it. Grave could have a redemption arc.
AW: after knowing that Atlas Corporation helped Konni group with those special suit and could be behind Soap being alive (we don't know really yet how) with nanotechnology repairing brain tissues, we will have to watch and see a new story about how Atlas Corporation progressed and what's their real plan. They don't care about which side is good or bad but only caring about money.

CoD Ghosts is my favorite CoD and is easily my most played in the series. I'd love to see it come back in any form, hopefully with Extinction and ties to the original campaign.
I like to think that the recent modern warfare games are leading up to the og ghost game
OG Ghosts is set in 2017 while MWIII is set in 2023 (2024 with other narrative stuff), so if the new MW games were to lead up to Ghosts, then the new Ghosts game would have to be a reboot.
It’s a smart move to have potential AW2 leaks start this early on so that ATVI and SHG can get a gauge for how the community feels about advanced movement coming back but years ahead of time. If our general initial reaction is what they are hoping for, that will probably be the green light for AW2. But if the community reacts poorly to these leaks then at least they have plenty of time to scrap AW2 and try something else. So this is good that we are finding out about these leaks so early on. But I have always said that if a game ever comes out that is like cod but has advanced movement, that will be the game I transition to, permanently. I know most cod players prefer to keep boots on the grown but personally I’ve always been a fan of quick repositioning. Across any game I play. That’s why I always exclusively play rogues/rangers in any game that allows it
Playing the future cods, I never missed the boots on the ground combat. I just missed playing with my friends who did
I can definitely see them fitting in Ghosts and this sequel/prequel into the current CoD timeline, considering some of the weapons from Ghosts have appeared in the most recent CoD's (like the CZ 805 as the MTZ 556, certain weapon conversions, etc.). They're slowly setting up these games to somewhat make sense to make sense in this new timeline (which is based on Black Ops' standard canon), so I wouldn't be surprised if we see weapons like the Peacekeeper, the Ripper, or even the Maverick rifles reappearing in these newer entries.

I wrote COD about a future boots off ground COD with big MW style Ground War and I wrote them one of the future games should lead to the UNSC in the Halo Universe. I wrote Xbox about making COD use the Unreal Engine to get us a true to life COD. Games look cartoony after seeing the Unreal 5.3 Engine.
If it really is a ghosts reboot then they would have to bring in the original characters from the first cod ghosts, merrick and keegan and orhers, not this theory that people are saying it will be Price and ghost with random masks and they would be ghosts, nothing like that, I want to see Elias, or Logan Reboots, since they can't do the second game 😭

A Ghosts Reboot connected to MW2019 dose make sense bc Ghost Would make his Own Team called Ghosts. We saw this in MWII when they all Wore a Ghost mask. Advanced Warfare is kinda confusing but it will work out in the end.
No matter what they do someone complains so swapping era yearly would somewhat satisfy all the fans instead of sticking to one era fir multiple years

I only have one teensy weensy problem with this and it’s not the games themselves it the fact we will never see the result of the ending of mw3 2023 cause I wanted a ending to the story which is sad but I’m excited for theses two games if the rumors are true but you never know we may get it in future or we will never know any way the future of cod looks promising but I’m going to be cautious

AW return would be AMAZING! If they keep the original movement, I would be happy. I enjoyed the fact you had to commit to the dash forward or left or whatever. It was a skill gap.
I want Extinction back so badly, Zombies is cool, but I'm kinda tired of it.

I think if Microsoft can give these studios more freedom to work on what kind of game they want their CoD titles to be, then we’d see some really good games with alot more love and passion put into them and therefore we the players would have a better product to play

If Ghosts comes back as a reboot it’s not really going to appeal to the intrigue of Ghosts… especially if it’s a MW prequel. What always attracted me about Ghosts was it being in this radically different modern world with a fictional bad guy South American superstate. Tired of this connected universe garbage.
As for AW2 please just have it be a sequel it doesn’t need to be in the same universe. I loved AW I would argue it was one of my favorite MPs from the time and the campaign was phenomenal. ATVI needs to leave this connected universe behind, it just makes things confusing not interesting.
There needs to be a call of duty game set on the great war (WW1) and the wars that happened around the same time ex. Mexican revolution and russian revolution that happened around 1917 and onwards.
I’ve been saying this all the futuristic stuff and maps we’re getting in mw3 and them bringing back aw weapons I believe secretly there planning aw2 and we might be getting it sooner then we think. Aw dub was great just was to futuristic for its time but I would love another futuristic cod I feel like the franchise needs something crazy again to shake it up a bit imagine AW Warzone that would be crazy fun lol

Infinite warfare was amazing. Id rather have variants than gunsmith.
No matter what COD they will release, it will still suck as all games going forward will be the MW19 engine. Unless they change it (I highly doubt it), features like SBMM, disbanding lobbies are going to hold back from what COD used to be. Maybe I’m just exaggerating, but that’s just me I guess 🤷🏾♂️
