I got taken by this in Texas back 35 years ago, but I thought it was fair. I just knew that he knew the secret and I didn't. I'd watch him closely and try it but never got it. I only spent about five dollars, but I had no regrets. Thanks for this video.
I went to a fair yesterday playing this game and you could have one an iPhone 6s Plus, huge flat screen, apple watch, macbook pro, i need to go back today bc i need a laptop to work on my business, i am using my sisters laptop and she is going to college so i cant use it while she is working on hers. I hope i win, thanks for the great tips!
Thanks so much for this! I just won a Nintendo switch, a ps4, an iPhone 10, a MacBook Pro, a 2020 Honda Accord, a 5 bedroom 4 bathroom house, a private jet, and my own island on the cost of Colombia.
Be careful when playing this game with metal disks. Most booth carnies have a magnet under the table they can move which will move your circles JUST enough that it shifts them and shows red. Discovered this when I actually WON at the carnival and caught the guy putting his hand the table and suddenly all my disks shifted out about 1/4 of an inch leaving a small red dot in the middle. Ended up getting management and they took apart the booth and found the button and magnet. Needless to say we got our prize and the booth was shut down. You also have to worry about the lighter "paper" circles they use as well. They will sometimes have a tiny fan sitting just far enough away that when you put your final circle down it blows them. This game is one of the easiest carnival games to win, but also one of the easiest ones to rig unfortunately.
Nonsense. Ive been a carny all my life and there is no need to ever gaff this game. Very few people can even get the first disc placed correctly. The few that will win "spot the spot" (the insider name) get a prize and the house has better odds than any casino in the country.
@@kevinmadcock8999 Original comment was about carnys using magnets to cheat you out of a win. Person you replied to explained how that couldn't be possible (you know what non ferrous means right?) and also explained why this video made it look so easy (because the sizes of the disk and red spot are incorrect).
I worked as an agent (meaning I worked games) on carnivals for 30 plus years. The "Cover the Spot" game was my feature. The dude in this video is not a carney, nor is he an agent. There are several give-aways he does to confirm this. First off, no real spot agent would ever hold his hand completely in the air as he dropped the plates (those disks are called plates). A real agent rests part of his hand on the board as he drops them. Second, the board he is using is either undersized or the plates are over-sized, which allows him to hold his hand completely in the air while he drops the plates. You won't find undersized boards or over-sized plates at a carnival. The dimensions of the board and the plates are precise to each other, which is why the game is so tough to win. The sizing is tight and the average agent practices for many hours to be able to cover the spot on a consistent basis. Third, no real carnival agent would ever make a video divulging the secrets to his featured game (or any other game). My last comment is directed to those of you commenting that claimed to have used this guys "tips" to go to a fair and win major prizes. You are full of it. You are lying thru your teeth--and while some people may believe you, those of us who are "with it" (meaning we are carnies) know you are spouting B.S. Have a good day.
I worked this game for 20+ years and every word you said is true. Of course, they can all lie on the internet, but when we would go years at a time, never giving away a prize, (unless it was a shill), we know the truth.....
I worked this joint a few years on a few different carnivals. The plates this guy uses don't look to be zinc either. I have never seen these particular plates used that he has.

Man I just spent $120 and could’ve won a ps5, Xbox, iPod touch a bunch of shit. So salty but they’re still open another week, literally studying this & playing it at home & going back 😂 $120 in the hole but I’m flipping that ps5 for at least 7
can someone explain to me if you are controlling something that drops the discs on or are you doing it yourself with just hands ? ( sorry it doesn’t make that much sense )
I am a retired carny, with close to 30 years experience working this game. The basics of what this guy shows you is correct, but the game is more nuanced than that. I guarantee you the plates he used to cover that spot are not the plates for that spot. The game equipment comes in different sizes. That particular red spot is from a smaller size game, while those plates are from a slightly larger size. When you use the correct plates for the red spot you have, the tolerances are very tight, and the way this dude held the plates over the spot to drop them would never allow him to cover it.
James McClary thank you for the info! One thing I also did notice when playing it in person was that the discs are much lighter and the physics of the air displacement when you drop it causes them to float slightly to the left or right before it lands.
@@RyanLucasPayne You're only required to drop the plates from at least 1 inch high. Air displacement (as you call it) has little to no effect. What does effect it is if you are dropping the plates flat. If you are dropping them flat, they land flat and don't move. If a plate is tilted at all when you drop it, that could possibly cause a plate to "bounce" when it lands. I can't be 100% sure, but it appears the game pieces (board and plates) you have were purchased from Acme. Acme produces a poor replica of the real thing. They are very "loose".
Its not intuitive, you think you should place the whole disk in the red as it technically covers the most surface area, but as soon as you do that you have lost.
I just played this game today at the fair and let me tell you it's not as easy as it looks. Yesh when there showing you it or if you see a video it looks so easy but when you get that in your hand and do it yourself it's not the same. Its really not that easy as u think it takes alot of practice and the way of letting it go when it lands
With 5 disks you can cover up to a spot which radius is 1.641 times the radius of the disks. But that requires infinite precision, which is impossible, so in practice the ratio is a bit less than 1.641

Not bad but you really don't know the real deal. I featured the spot game for 5 seasons and your information is not specific enough to beat the game. First, it is a difficult game to play because there are no guidelines on the spot. You have to estimate where the discs go, then repeat the game over and over until your hand automatically goes there. I've had to demonstrate the game in front of clients everytime one came up to my counter. After you learn this game, you can cover it every time, yes, every time. Also how difficult the game is depends on how "tight" the board is. There are "soft" boards that are relatively easy to beat, like your board and tight boards that only a very experienced agent, that is in practice can beat. Some tight boards have only 1/8 inch of error, which means that if you place the first four discs PERFECTLY, the last one only has 1/8 inch of error left. Some board have no error and each disc has to be perfect, PERFECTLY PLACED. Then, I'll let you in on a secret, there are "Cadillac boards" a Cadillac board cannot be beaten because it cannot be covered no matter what you do because the spot is too large. It's called a Cadillac board because you can bet a Cadillac on the game and never loose. How this kind of board is operated is by a very skilled and heartless agent. He does a thing called "shading" which means that her unobtrusively covers the tiny, and I mean tiny speck of the spot after he covers it and asks you if it's all covered. I only saw a Cadillac board once, the owner of my game showed it to me but said that today's carnies are too clumsy and stupid to operate one, oh and too greedy. That's the real scoop. You know a little but not much about carnival games. What you showed isn't enough to learn the game like a skilled operator. I learned from some of the best.
