I’ve been realizing how much breathing and the type of breathing affects everything in your life! Just focus on your breathing when you’re scared, angry, anxious etc. I’ve noticed that sometimes I would literally be taking short breaths and that would create an uncomfortable feeling in my body as soon as I started taking deep breathes, that feeling was gone. Meditate people! It will change your life.
Joe Rogan thank you for your podcasts . They have changed my life . Having something to watch daily that is good fir the mind, body , and soul is a true rarity in the history of all media
I’m a quadriplegic for 20 years now and been doing nothing but getting worse. I started watching Joe‘s podcast. I learned about intermittent fasting. About the evil of carbs. About being tough and strong and fighting through everything like David Goggins. Yeah this is a fact. I exercise I lift weights. I do crunches. I add new things all the time. Thanks Joe
That sucking organs thing is called Uddiyana Bandha, if anyone's curious. The only yoga excersise I do, almost every morning. Highly recommended, it trains abdominal muscles that no ab work will ever excersise.
I did 2 hrs a day of pranayama (breathing) for one month. Learned these very old exercises to expand lung capacity and engage pelvic floor. All that flat stomach vanity breathing is what what was messing me up. After about 4 days didn't want my coffee, sugar or my vices, healthy intenstines, sleeping better,. Everything started to change. And now I'm covid lasy, not breathing, back on my vices.... But 100% agree with what this guy is saying. Getting more oxygen into our cells is life changing both physically and mentally.
Have you gotten back to the pranayama ma’am? Since it worked so well for you! And once you do get that balance back, you should then focus on physical activity and nutrient dense diet 💪🏽
@@Sid629 I just started the pranayama and exercise again about a week ago - life changing in such a short period already. And I've been off coffee, sugar, processed foods, gluten and alcohol for a while now after getting very sick. So on an upward path finally. Sometimes need to hit rock bottom :)

Some years ago my Chinese Tai Chi instructor and I attended a Still Point Meditation seminar in my town. It involved a rapid connected breath. I had done it several times myself and would often fall into the "still point". There would be no breath for several minutes. You were not holding your breath but were completely relaxed. There were about 20 people at the seminar. Most achieved some level of the still point. My instructor kept lying there. Everybody was leaving but he was still there. He kept looking at his watch. He knew he was not breathing and wondered how long this would go on. He did not breath for 30 minutes.
Bringing in amazing guests and let them talk, being respectful and being engaged in the conversation, talking only when needed. That’s all it takes to make a good show, and Joe understood that better than anyone else. He has the success he deserves
Self regulation IS taught healthily to babies from birth! Don't get stressed angry and throw your baby... Breathe in, sing gently, healthy touches, deep firm pressure, swaddling, sucking - all healthy ways to show how beneficial it is to calm yourself! I do this with my two year old all the time and she makes good choices when she takes 5 breaths and regains emotional control during temper tantrum
awesome vid. let me just clarify that in freediving we don NOT teach hyperventilation as a preparation for the dive. In fact, we do the opposite. We teach RELAXATION, get the student as calm as possible to have to best possible experience under water. Hyperventilation was used in the early days of freedivingn, but not anymore. thanks
the abdominal thing is nauli, which is very difficult ! so good to hear breathwork being discussed here ! breathwork is a standard routine for pilates / yoga practitioners, dancers, singers, theatre actors... just like practising scales for a pianist : it doesn’t get any mention but it’s fundamental.
The Technique Rickson Gracie uses is a yoga process known as “Nauli Kriya” it is a purification process. There are multiple stages and ways of using the technique that all effect the system differently. Pranams 🙏🏻
The Buddha chose the breath as his mediatation object when he became enlightened. Thus conscious breathing is a key to absolute serenity and contentment.

Hey Joe! This interview is a gold mine for breathing man! Thank you for bringing him to your show! The breathwork technique he is talking about... wow thanks man.
If you want to expand your energy - and increase both your mental and physical stamina to a noticably higher level, I most highly recommend you get the book, 'The Five Tibetans' ~ Christopher Kilham , and do the exercises and breathing as described. In a short space of time (a week or two) you will feel how well they work. * You won't be disappointed, I promise you !
If you research the science and biology behind this its actually quite fascinating. Its also part of a lot of other activities like yoga, meditation etc. Amazing part was with breath you change your chemical composition in your body and activate different parts of your brain and nervous system (parasympathetic on exhalation) . This is actually backed by some serious research.
Breathing is not just about getting O2 into your body and exhaling CO2. There is the prana which is using the breath as a vehicle. Which is what that keeps you alive. The life force or Prana. Breathing is not just the physical..
As far as i've heard from survival experts, the reason you get breath shock when jumping into ice cold water isn't to make you jump back out. It's to make you go unconscious as fast as possible. This way you won't drown, and it puts your body in a state to weather the lack of oxygen without suffering brain damage. Apparently, it's part of the reason people can fall through the ice go for an extended period before being revived without suffering any permanent brain damage.
I Love this talk! Just because something is aesthetically pleasing doesn’t make it functional! Boom 💥 Looks don’t make the person - Breathwork is a Full Body Experience and we all need to work on optimizing it! 🌬
Actually the feeling of light headedness comes from a form of O2 deprevation at a cellular level because CO2 has a function in O2 absorption, hyperventilating scrubs most of the CO2... (patrick mckeown oxygen advantage) but it's still beneficial to do breathwork, both for performance and emotional healing.
