    Kind hope westerns can just stop worrying for our own problems. There are still about 1.4 billion Chinese on earth. There are a lot of countries with declining population and much fewer people, yet they do just fine. So, for those who think China is going to be any different because we are having less babies, you might just get disappointed.

    • @sparkles999rose2

      There’s also less women being born due to the one child police so they may drop significantly in population once the older generation passes

      @@sparkles999rose2 May or may not, we will figure out a way. As for the preference for baby's gender, it's becoming increasingly rare among young Chinese. I think gender inequality is a common problem around the world, and no matter in China or anywhere else, this problem will gradually be solved with the progress of society.

      @@user-wz2qt4hc6d I think the real problem is aging, not the decline of having a billion people. If more than half are 80 years old, by 2100 there will be 800 million and the age will soon be 60 and up; The most favorable solution would be to receive immigrants from other poor countries like Pakistan or Africa.

    • @user-wz2qt4hc6d
      @user-wz2qt4hc6d Před rokem

      @@rolandolucasrojastorrico87 It might be a solution, but immigration can also cause some problems such as culture clash. Luckly, China is not the first country to face an aging population, so we can first observe how other countries deal with it and then make a wiser decision.

      @@user-wz2qt4hc6d True, but all developed countries are opening up to immigration due to aging, even Japan, which is undoubtedly one of the countries most reluctant to immigration, has admitted that it will open up to immigration to countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, even Vietnam, it is not I know a lot but we are talking about Japan so it is progress basically all countries will have to open up to immigration since improving the birth rate naturally is practically lost

    If US can have 21 trillion economy with 330 million population. Then why not China ? It will not go Japanese way as the lifespan is only 75 years. Declining population is not a worry after all.

    • @user-lf4vj6qq8q
      @user-lf4vj6qq8q Před 7 měsíci +1

      You don’t get it. The age distribution will change. When China gets to 600-700 million people their average age will also be 65 or something. Imagine half of your population being retired old people, and your young workers having to pay taxes for their pensions and healthcare. Meanwhile, last time when China had 600-700 million people, their average age was 20-something, there’s a big difference.

    i just looked at the world population counter, as of September 2023 it says 8,060,564,214. China overcounted its population by A LOT, and if they admitted to that the number of overcounted people is likely twice as large, what if we’re not even at 8 billion yet…. that population counter is not accurate

  • @dalegg66
    @dalegg66 Před 4 měsíci

    These are going to be interesting times to watch. Chinas population is going to continue to drop, but what is going to amaze people is how it’s going to exponentially drop. They’ve been in noticeable decline in births now for over 30 years. Their population hadn’t been decreasing only because the existing population just aged. Now, you’ve got two things about to happen. #1, all of those elderly are gonna start dying, and more and more each year as their baby boomers get older, and #2) Remember as births decrease, there are less women to have babies, so there will be even less births, especially as their fertility rate just keeps dropping. I think we’re gonna start seeing large numbers dropping, not 10 or 20 years from now, but now.
