@@GossipGyal1 To be fair though, most Americans of African decent outright refuse to go in the woods and refuse to care about anything that doesn't have a street attached to it. That includes not caring about anything that comes from the woods. "Kill it" is the general approach to any wild (and most domestic) animals that are unfortunate enough to run the streets in the urban areas of America. This is unfortunately why most inner city kids can't swim. Any time someone is snorkeling and then killed by a shark, or hiking and then mauled by a bear, or speared in the neck by a jumping marlin while deep sea fishing, those activities and associated deaths are colloquially knows as "white people shit". Therefore, it's not really his fault that he doesn't know kowallas aren't endemic of Africa.

There is a saying amongst the social anthropologist, a little racist but youll get it, "Its not your fault that you are black, your ancestor just live wrong." Nodding a fact about human evolution to best fit the environment they are living. Thats why the european are the whitest and "haplogroupest", in asia it is like the mongoloids that occupies east asia have colder climate, thus whiter complexion against their southeast asian counterpart, same stock, different breed.

I am Nigerian, and I only have one problem with this video. Why did you guys only try two things? We don't only eat fufu and soups all day.. If you're going to do something, do it thoroughly. I think you should re-do this and also specify that it is food from Nigeria, in the title of the video.
As you did mention, Africa is a continent with over 50 countries, and we all have our own varying cuisines.
Anyway, If you do re-do this video, try: jollof rice (this is major in Nigeria), suya, puff puff, nigerian fried rice, and white rice & stew (basic everyday meal) etc.
Update: A great article that showcases some Nigerian foods: www.buzzfeed.com/bimadewunmi/nigerian-foods-the-world-should-know-and-love#.xvpymPqBZ

Angel Love I understand your disappointment about the video but those guys aren't going to make another video and be serious about it. They get paid for making people laugh. However, I would definitely like to try authentic African or Nigerian food. It's funny that in America we have a melting pot of foods as well as people. Italian food, Italian people, Mexican food Mexican people, Greek foods and so on and so on. Yet there are many African Americans (though we are a minority) and not a trace of African food. Us African Americans have well, our ancestors came from Africa and have none of our traditions from our homeland. I'm fascinated when I hear in Africa we have a rich oral tradition yet it seems so far away and yet it is. Anyway, I digress. like I said we have nothing that was passed down from the purest parts of us. I feel like we're a lost people. Further more spiritually and morally lost because it isn't the same over here as it was in the 70's when black families could stay together. Anyways you expect a lot out of those people you're watching and it would be nothing less than a let down for you. I wouldn't invest too much of your high expectations and high standards into those guys. You know in America we are ignorant of a lot... scratch that, all other countries, we're a disrespectful country and a bragging and boastful country. Our televisions manufacture lies faster than I can set it straight in my mind for myself. America's thought to be some Lovely, beautiful, aesthetic country but it's actually decrepit and a well maintained place to do wrong and wicked things. Everything over here is comedy, comedy, comedy, entertainment, entertainment and entertainment. Sorry if this seems like I'm just ranting but I am so very fond of you all. It's kind of like you still live at home and I've moved very far away and I don't know what home is like. You know I look at Africans... my kin folks on tv and I'm like, "we are the most beautiful people , I see the smiles and I'm like, my people have the best, brightest, cheerful beautifulest smiles I have ever seen. Honestly I haven't met any of you my people but I feel so close and I am fond of you all. And again sorry for all of the venting but everything I said is in my heart and I just had to let it go. Now, back on track. the guys in the video, some liked the food, the guy who spit his food out is disrespectful. Some behave that way some do not. We don't exactly step outside of our comfort zones and eat things we're not use to everyday and old boy went about it the wrong way. Don't be upset by what a few do. And I understand they are misrepresenting your culture and it's shameful the way they do it. they're blocking the truth and they're wrong for that. However you know what it's really like and you know the truth. Hey, maybe you can make your own response video and set it straight. Well, goodnight from your long lost kin from somewhere down the line. Smile :)

Thomas huebner Yeah that may be true but Black Brits are just as Anglicised as Black Americans. Who cares if your great great great great grandmother is from Ghana? Most of these people have never been there nor do they really know anything about their culture. If you've been in the UK for 5 generations, you're a damned Brit.
I remember one day I was conversing with a Jamaican who immigrated to England when he was in his early teens. We were discussing the differences between Blacks in Britain and America. I told him that I realized that many Blacks in the Uk do go back to their country of origin when discussing their heritage just as you commented. He replied that he fount it funny how in America we don't; we just call ourselves Black or Black Americans. I asked him, "When you think of America, what's the first race that comes to mind?" He replied "White." Then I asked him the same question regarding the UK and he replied the same, "White." Then I asked him when he moved from Jamaica to the UK, did he keep his Jamaican citizenship, fault it for a UK citizenship, or does he have dual citizenship. He replied that he faulted his Jamaican citizenship for a British one. I replied that therefore he is no longer a Jamaican and in fact a Brit, a Black Brit. He had not choice but to agree.
I am not trying to diminish someone's culture, but we have to be honest. Nigerian, Ghanaian, Tanzanian, etc., are all nationalities. The only way you can be Nigerian and American or Nigerian and English is if you have double citizenship. If your parents are born in Sierra Leone and you are born in the UK, you're British. Your parents are Sierra Leonean, but you are British. You may have cultural affiliation but you really are not from there. I mean come on, most Brits who affiliate with African countries don't even carry the moral or values of their countries; they act like Brits.
I wouldn't say that Black Americans have no choice but to call themselves American. I think it is more the fact that we have built our own culture here. The same is for Blacks in the Caribbean. We know we are from Africa, but the culture is not exactly the same. We created something new. I will agree that many Blacks in America are removed from their heritage. Some want no affiliation with Africa. All Black people are from Africa so our cultures do overlap in some ways. However since we were separated for over 500 years, things changed. Also many Black Americans call themselves Blacks to promote a united front. Before and during the Civil Rights Era, many Caribbean Americans migrated to America. Many of these people and their offspring fought alongside Black Americans for Civil Rights in America or spoke on the injustice Blacks faced in America. We all considered ourselves Black to demonstrate that we were all one people and nomenclatures such as Bahamian, Trinidadian, or Dominican (Dominica not Dominican Republic) did not matter.
Sorry for the long comment but I had a lot to say. Americans history is unfamiliar to many people, including Americans themselves. Hope you respond because topics like this are very important to me.

NANCAY WANG It's not that they are not in tune with their culture, it the fact that it is too far to recall. I am Canadian ( Haitian-Canadian in fact) and here most black people are from 1st or 2nd generation which means we pretty much have a stong bond to where we are from , I am pretty sure ut is the same thing for you guys in the UK. Unlike African-Americans that are here since +300 years... If you did the same test in a carribean island, you would have the exact same reaction.

This is a total misrepresentation of African food, you should have started with that, headed over to Ethiopia and tried some injera and doro wot, come to Kenya and tried Mukimo or githeri or ugali and samaki or muthokoi, then Uganda and tried their matoke...there's only so much you can sample from 54 countries...tsk aibu ndogo ndogo

My body doesn't react well to the palm oils used, and many family members either don't like yams, (not sweet potatoes, we love those), plantain, okra, and many other ingredients used in the cooking. We also don't eat that much rice (my mom is a diabetic). Our food is different. I don't think the food is "bad" but not to our palette and liking.
