- The secret to mopping hardwood floors is to start in one corner of the room and work your way out mopping as you go. This prevents you from leaving shoeprints on the areas where you just mopped and also keeps your shoe covers from getting wet.

I’m pretty sure this goes for all floors!
Thanks so much for watching the show. 👍
@@AskAngelaBrown Just to let you know. My comment was supposed to be a joke. Hope I didn’t offend you!
I came to say this😂
As a hardwood floor guy I can tell you your going to have cupping or crowning issues with your floor from using a steam mop
It's true if you use the steam. Thanks for bringing this up. In this video we use the steam mop as just a damp mop and the steamer is not plugged in. Mopping the floor this way allows us to take one unit to a customer's house, instead of two mops. We can dry or damp mop the hardwood with the steamer unplugged, then plug it in for ceramic tiles in the bathrooms.
Imma rip mine up and install something less weak then lol.
When I cleaned houses, some customers would request we use their steam mop on hardwood floors. We always did it, and honestly, the floors were always all right. Some people claim they did it for years with no problems. 🤷🏾♀️
What kind of mop & cleaner solution would you recommend other than a roomba?
@@AskAngelaBrowni can already see your floors cupping
Good vid, Angela. Which steam mop are you using?

Are those Special cleaning shoes?
If yes what do they exactly do and how do you call it?
Not special cleaning shoes, just medical non-skid shoe covers. (paid link amzn.to/3FpvNFu) We wear them so we don't have to take off our shoes in the customer's homes. We need our shoes for support of our back, knees, spine and hips,
Wooooooow. Seriously?
Also, remember not to use steam mops or extreme heat if you have vinyl plank floors!
Great reminder! Thanks for watching and for sharing your input.
Until people walk over the floor you just mopped😠
LOL. Don't you hate when that happens? 😂
The first secret is to NOT put this in your kitchen or even dining room if you can help it or you'll go crazy cleaning it. Save it for your bedrooms, living room or anywhere there isn't high traffic or eating.
If you must have a hardwood look for those areas, just use tile that looks like hardwood. It looks convincing and is 1,000 x easier to maintain!
Thank you for sharing this tip!
Don't use steam machines on hardwood floors.
Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
I was thinking the same thing too and wanted to ask her why is she using the steam mop.
I’m curious Ms.Angela for educational reasons
Garbage. That’s only true of you haven’t sealed it properly.
If you’ve watched her videos, Angela doesn’t use the steam function when she cleans hardwood. She uses a system where she uses one mop with the switchable pads. That way you just bring one mop to a job. The steam mop gets turned on for tile floors, switch out the pads when dirty, turn off steamer for hard woods. Best way I’ve ever cleaned my floors.
What steam mop is this?
Here's the info on the steam mop.

Thanks I already know that trick😂
Thanks for watching!
Does this also apply to cement
If you don't want to get your feet wet or leave shoe prints on a clean floor- then sure! Start in a corner and mop your way out. 👍🙂
Is it a steam mop? Is it steam mop good for hardwood floors?
You've got to be very careful. Steam mops can be tricky and not suitable for some types of flooring. for example, waxed and or unfinished floors can be damaged by the moisture, so you've got to be careful and check what kind of hardwood you're dealing with
@@AskAngelaBrownThank you.
❤
great teachings!
Thanks for watching and for taking a few minutes of your day to hang out with me. 😍
How do you disinfect the floors though?
When it comes to disinfecting hardwood floors, it's important to be cautious and use appropriate methods to avoid damaging the wood. The first step is to sweep or vacuum the floor to remove any loose dirt or debris. Next, you can create a gentle disinfecting solution by mixing equal parts of water and vinegar or by using a mild disinfectant specifically formulated for hardwood floors. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals as they can cause discoloration or harm the wood. Dampen a mop or cloth with the solution and wring it out well to avoid excessive moisture. Lightly wipe the floor, making sure not to saturate it, and pay extra attention to high-traffic areas or spots that may need more thorough cleaning. Afterward, allow the floor to air dry completely. Regular cleaning and disinfecting can help maintain the cleanliness of your hardwood floors while preserving their natural beauty. Hope this helps.
@@AskAngelaBrown trying this today! Thank you so much!!
Any suggestions on a wooden home? I need to clean my walls but its all wood panelling so any suggestions on chemicals or anything like that?
I suggest skipping the harsh chemicals and using a damp microfiber cloth with a mild wood soap solution. Murphy's Oil Soap is a popular choice (amzn.to/3QKWj1w paid link*) - just don't forget to dilute it according to the instructions👍
@@AskAngelaBrownwhat is the name of that mop looks very nice 😊
What stain is this specifically on that floor😍?
Hmm, I'm not sure. I'll see if I can find out.

What do you think of the tineco vac?? They keep saying it’s safe on hardwood?
Thanks for watching the show and leaving a comment. We don’t have a review of the Tineco vacuum at this time. Here is a paid link to recommended vacuums for homeowners: savvycleaner.com/resources/vacuums-for-homeowners/
This is a secret?
Not anymore, the word is out! 🙂 Thanks for watching! 😃
I mop and walk towards it. Am I doing wrong?
If you mop and walk towards it, you might end up walking on the freshly mopped floor, potentially leaving footprints
how do you leave shoe prints with those booties?
Booties or shoe covers are designed to minimize the transfer of dirt and contaminants, making it challenging to leave noticeable shoe prints. However, slight imprints may occur on textured or soft surfaces, especially if there is dirt or moisture present. Applying lighter steps and ensuring the booties are clean and dry can help minimize any marks. It's important to remember that these prints are usually minimal and do not affect the booties' effectiveness in maintaining cleanliness and preventing contamination.
What to you clean hardwood floors with.
This is the Light N Easy Steam Mop (paid link amzn.to/3G2UCaQ) and in this video the steam mop is not plugged in. This is used as a damp mop with only the mop pad wet and squeezed out so there is no standing water left on the floor.
What cleanser do you use? What liquid?
If you used 3 pads to clean a house, after the cleaning it’s done, do you trash them or you clean them and reuse it?
With the steam mops you can wash the mop pads in the washing machine. They are 100% reusable. And if they get really dirty, you can soak them in a gallon jar with water and a bit of OxiClean stain remover.
@@AskAngelaBrown thanks!!!!
Is this a secret or common sense?
Unfortunately, it's still a secret. Common sense is a bonus. 😍👍
Do you wear those footies in all the homes!
I dont as my shoes are slip resistant, .
Hi! I do recommend wearing them for each job. This way you're not tracking anything from home to home. I appreciate you joining the conversation! 🤗

The secret of breathing is to fill your lungs with air!
+fejeslac yes, and don’t forget the exhale part. 🤗
What’s on your feet and how do I buy some ? 🙂
They are considered "medical shoe covers" (paid link amzn.to/3KOSpS7) and we wear them to protect our shoes from the customer's floors. We do wear shoes in people''s homes because being on our feet all day as cleaners, the shock absorbing properties and the arch and heel support protect our knees, hips and spines while working.
Thank you kindly for your response! I am really happy that your wearing these helps keep your body in good health.

Why my landlord telling us not use steam mop
It will damage the floor 😢
Steam mop can indeed damage some types of flooring if used incorrectly
@@AskAngelaBrown what is the correct way? I steam one pass then let it air dry.

You shouldn’t be putting water or steam on your hardwood floors. That’s kinda 101.
I completely understand your point about avoiding water and steam on hardwood floors. While it's true that excessive water and steam can be damaging to hardwood, I want to assure you that I'm a cleaning professional with extensive knowledge and experience in caring for various types of flooring. this is hot smearing
not cleaning
Think of it more like wiping down a piece of wood furniture. With a damp microfiber mop you're wiping the floor down, and since you've already dry dusted, and the steamer is not plugged in, there is no heat, and no smearing, and no streaking.
Steam mopon wood floor??
I use it from time to time, but it's important to be extra cautious, use minimal moisture, never leaving a mop in one spot, and moving it at all times. I wouldn't use this type of mop on old or unsealed floors
OCD much?
