  • This is a psychosis simulator video. It was fun to create it! Enjoy!
Echolalia refers to mindless and meaningless repetition of words and phrases.
As a symptom it belongs to what is called a "catatonic state", where there may be observed strange behaviours but it appears that the individual is to some degree unconscious or automatic of what they are doing.
In this video I tell you about Echolalia, and also I present the topic as an auditory "simulator" of the lived experience.
Let me know how you thought about the production of this schizophrenia simulation in the comments!

What this will accomplish is extending the reach of my effort to raise awareness about schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and bipolar disorders. Thereby, we can attempt to ease the suffering of millions of people with symptoms of psychosis and other mental illnesses. __

This was an excellent simulation/definition. Better than anything I could find on a google search. :)

Your videos have helped me immensely in identifying my symptoms and has subsequently helped my therapist and psychiatrist understand where I'm at. I'm currently on medications that are working so well for me and I'm feeling great. I owe it in part to you. Thank you and I hope you keep going with this series!

That's great you are feeling on top of the situation. Awareness creates possibilities. Have you identified any symptoms which you have not seen me do a video about? (That is, give me an idea for a video!)

@@nednednerb thank you! I can't think of anything that you haven't touched on. I know you have talked about isolation, but maybe you can go more into that. The "truman show" phenomenon. A few years ago I cut everyone I have ever had a relationship with out of my life with the belief that they were all in with a satanic cult-like organization and were trying to pull me back in. Friends, family, mutual acquaintances. I'm in the process of trying to rebuild but have trouble trusting and believing it was all in my head.

holy shit, this is exactly what i do. especially at work. i also repeat other’s words in my head repeatively for long times. your video series has helped me a lot with helping discover my own mental problems. definitely need to bring on these problems to my therapist

Awareness helps us notice things, including ways to be protective and nourishing to the self. Understanding there is a pattern to my thoughts and movements between patterns helps me trust and understand there are things in me that aren't because of me or my fault. It helps me realize different experiences are possible and indeed inevitable.
Good luck talking with your therapist! I guess you have no diagnosis? If a person is not debilitated by their "symptoms", it doesn't need diagnosis. The differences are just human, but to have problematic experiences or being in danger, that is what makes the mental "illness."

nednednerB the Schizophrenic i have been diagnosed with bipolar and a couple other things, however i’m looking for a better diagnosis as i feel that what i have been diagnosed with in the past doesn’t accurately fit what i experienced. these symptoms i’ve been discovering are indeed a problem, haha. though i’m looking forwards to getting the help i need to be happier and safe :-) thank you for your videos, definitely helps with solving my own mind

My therapist said i don't have Catatonic and i actually believed her.I can't believe how i kept repeating the word after him after him.

I think I think having a catatonic symptom or two even ongoing doesn't make your whole situation "catatonia" as a separate thing. Maybe you had a symptom, but your general expression is something else. In fact, many psychiatric conditions, not just SZ, will present with catatonic symptoms. There might be periods in a hospitalization where someone will freeze up and be non verbal, but it might also just be temporary and eventually clear up. Clear up!
