I loved Serendipity, Leo the Lop, and Flutterby. I recently discovered that I still own Leo the Lop. My Mom must've brought it to me at some point. Oh my goodness. I loved The Littles!

      Aww - Leo is a great one💗
The Littles were almost comfort reads around our house. The kids were like, “I want to read something I know I’ll like” and a Littles story would suddenly appear 🤣

I'm with your son; I loved Curious George! And Babar! I haven't heard anyone talk about him in so long!

i started to think about it while you were talking and was a little confused as i couldn't remember reading any early readers when i was young...just comic books...which i loved..and so i did a little checking, not much, but a number of those books and series...even like frog and toad didn't exist when i was learning to read in the beginning of the 50's..have read some since..the little prince for the first time in my early twenties and fell absolutely in love with it.

Did you have Dick and Jane, & McGuffey readers? I had those (so did my kids) but they weren’t favorites. ♥️
I had a type of comic that I read too, but I found them too succinct so I didn’t read them as often.
I don’t think it matters what age you discover Little Prince , it’s a cross generational story ♥️
Makes me so happy to know that you love it as well❣️

I remember watching the Little Bear show as a kid, but I've never read the books. I need to see if I can track them down.
My favorite early reader was A Visit to Oma by Marisabina Russo, which is about a girl who visits with her great-grandmother, even though they don't speak the same language. Her Oma tells her a story and she makes up what she thinks her Oma is telling her based on her gestures and facial expressions. It's really a really cute story.

We love all of these! Except I’m not familiar with Serendipity books or Daniel’s Duck! 😮😅♥️ I loved The original American girl doll books! Like Kirsten, Samantha, etc.

I’m so surprised when people are not familiar with things that were so common place for me! I hope you can find both Daniel’s Duck and Serendipity! They’re wonderful!
American girls are making an appearance in the next video !!!

I read the Serendipity books! I still own “Fanny” but I sadly don’t own any others anymore 😢
Yes Frog and Toad! I might still have that one somewhere too.
I never read the Little Bear Books but I watched the tv show haha
I didn’t read The Little Prince until high school.
Winnie the Pooh! I have a set too.
That’s so funny that your daughter is the Lorax 😂
    Babar!!!
Yep, I loved The Giving Tree too!
This was such a nostalgic video to watch!

Yay! A fellow Serendipity fan! 🤗
You must read Little Bear. I know nothing of the show, but the book will touch your Mama ♥️ heart!
Most of the early readers I had on my shelves have gone to my granddaughter who is beginning to take off with her reading! She is a lover of Amelia Bedelia and Beatrix Potter currently 🥰

I am very familiar with most of these, either from my childhood or my stint as a kindergarten teacher. I have nostalgic memories of Curious George because i remember them being read to me by my older siblings, and i remember reading them in turn to my younger siblings (big family). And Stone Soup!! For some reason, i LOVED that story SO MUCH as a child. There was another one about soup, maybe by Arnold Lobel as well? Chicken Soup with Rice i think? Something like that. Oh, the memories!

    • @novelideea
      @novelideea  Před 5 měsíci +2

So many Soup books!🤣 I am always happy when soup season rolls back around! I may have been brainwashed into that love by all the childhood stories of its wondrous qualities 😂

I don't remember if I read any of those books. The ones at the beginning I didn't even read to my kids. I did read a lot of the others to my boys tho and they read them themselves when they were reading on their own.
I only remember the bookmobile coming by our house and going in there during the summer, reading Nancy Drew (a lot of those); my dad buying me the Mother Goose nursery rhymes and my brother a book with some tales like Aladdin.

    • @novelideea

Our ranch was out of town but we didn’t have neighbors so it wouldn’t have been advantageous for the peddlers to come our direction. I have never known anyone who actually had one! ♥️
