- The day Ensign John R. Morgan III was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Navy his brother, Cadet Thomas A. Morgan of the United Stated Army, was there to give him his first salute. I was lucky enough to be there to capture this clip (their extremely proud, big sister!)
In 1970 my cousin was commissioned an ensign. My grandfather, a WWI veteran, gave him his first salute. A year later my grandfather gave him his last salute.
Vietnam?
Slow Hand Salute to both
That carries a lot of weight
That had to be really hard on you all, especially your grandfather.
When I was commissioned as a Navy Chief Warrant Officer, my wife, then a CTM2 gave me my first salute! I then re-enlisted her for four more years in the Navy. I gave my silver dollar to the first member of my ship's crew to salute me, however.
Great story shipmate and thank you for your service brother! 🇺🇸
that rdc wanted no hugs lol
Thank you so much for sharing these moments with everyone!
The title made me want to watch. It made me feel very proud to salute and congratulate a family member once while we both stood in our uniforms.
The not wanting to hug part was a bit weird.
But congrats to the brothers
I don't think it's allowed. They say not fraternisation and since they're uniform, no matter who or what they are to each other, it's not allowed... or so I have heard.
@@jaredbasic5743 as a former military man myself, United States Navy, that would not be considered fraternization. I agree with you, it is a bit weird NOT to accept the hug.
@@voodoolou3793 did u comment that under every comment
@@jaredbasic5743 it was just a hug, they are not in a relationship.... I believe that is allowed. but oh well it was weird
I believe it had to do with rank, and not wanting to break certain professional relationship with him.
Chief said "oh hell no you aren't hugging me!!"
Well done young man from a RAF Veteran.
Very nice.
Great military get together . Everyone looking good
haha funny how I ran into this.... i served with (then CDT) Tom Morgan... Good dude!
Whoooooo that wind
Can't wait to join the navy
Nerd
Drewski I'm a proud nerd
@@fannydiva2010 Just careful not to make any cringeworthy hugs.
Are you in yet?!
@@drewski775 And what exactly is yo claim to fame?!
Embarrassing moment at the end
Por que no se dejo abrazar y que les daba en la mano🤔
its a great EPIC FAIL
Wait all that all family?
Why did she reject his hug tho?
I think she could have told him that when they were shaking hands that was sort of embarrassing
Chief don’t Hug!
We can infer, likely incorrectly (not), that having not leaned in to the Marine - could have been a gender bias issue, leaning in to the Chief, unintentional but inappropriate given the circumstances. Unless she is his Mother, God Mother, Aunt. . .
what did he gave them while shaking hands?
+cedric brisson It's a silver dollar. It's tradition.
Was Gunny missing his crossed rifles?
So who are the gunny and the chief? The gunny I can understand because he might have been a drill instructor. The chief??
Navy OCS uses both Marine DIs and Navy RDCs.
@@JawsFan27 correct; she's his rdc
he looks friendly here but watch the di at paris island
the DI looks like mine from san diego, that guy was nuts and awesome
Where was this filmed at?
Knoar Navy OCS in Newport, Rhode Island

Gunny chewing gum in uniform?
That what I said
YEP WTF!!! No diddy bopping, chewing gum or acting like your back on the block.... I heard it in boot camp (1983) can't believe a drill instructor is doing it..... WTF has happened to the Corps.?
This is what a four looks like

What was dat keep him at bay BULL💩 ABOUT?! Personally I think that action or lack thereof requires soul searching on your behalf shipmate! We still and will ALWAYS continue to have A LONG WAY TO GO, however we're slightly removed from the Woolworth's lunch counter era! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU ON YOUR PROMOTION AND CONTINUED SUCCESS AND EQUALLY IMPORTANT THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
Is it first salute after killing 3 millions children’s in Irak or is the first salute after torturing in Afghanistan? Am confused
You are really naïve huh
