  • Erik Satie's Gymnopédie arranged for the Pipe Organ, and it works extremely well in my opinion. In this video I play the rendition on the Hauptwerk sample set of Caen - St. Etienne by Sonus Paradisi.
    The registration is flute + vox humaine 8' with tremolo in the recit. In the positv just salicional + flute 8'. In the pedal I just take the positif down without any other voices. Please, let me know what you think?

    I had to practice this on Piano in my youth and forgot it for nearly 50 years. Now it is present again, and I love it again. Thank you very much for that, dear Philip!❤

    Lovely registration of this well known composition. You take it at a much slower pace Philip which enhances the mood of the piece. Love it dear friend.

    how do you make sound so good the recording from hauptwerk?

    • @philipaggesen
      @philipaggesen  Před 3 měsíci

      It is because that the sound coming from the organ already is digitalized. Hauptwerk is all about playing on already recorded sound.

    • @TERUVFX
      @TERUVFX Před 3 měsíci

      @@philipaggesen yes, but to me this not sound like this, you ave "strange" settings? like bits? hz? audio driver? con caen what voicing you are using (near and rear or only one of them)? and there's NO editing at all? WOW

    • @philipaggesen
      @philipaggesen  Před 3 měsíci

      @@TERUVFX Hope I can answer your questions. First of all almost all my videos are recorded as one takes meaning that there isn’t any editing done to the audio. Only to the audio levels.
      In Caen I have chosen to focus a lot on the rear perspective which is to try to simulate sitting down in the church.

    This music was written as "furniture music", music that exists in the background, like furniture merely fulfilling their practical purpose, existing. Furniture music was meant as an artistic statement, that music can be and should be nothing more than ignorable atmospheric background, and yet, "Furniture Music" is far more recognizable and consciously admired than the banal "furniture music" of the modern era.

    • @philipaggesen
      @philipaggesen  Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you for the information. I didn't know that it was regarded as furniture music. I think that these Gymnopedie are so great that they have catapulted themselves into the spotlight from just being merely background music!
