Today let's react to Jamie Oliver also cooking the famous Thai soul food Green Curry (Gang Kiew Wan) ! A staple street food and also readily available in most food courts in Thailand, this delicious curry is really delicious with either fresh jasmine rice or roti. However, we have to remember that is is Jamies version of Green curry

Ok, I'm European, so take it with a heavy pinch of salt, but while he fucked up bad, the Ramen did at least look like Ramen and except for the Soba noodles, propably tasted similarish to Ramen.
That on the other hand, wow. I have no Idea what the fuck he was cooking there, it might even taste good. But fuck me, that is anything but Thai green Curry. At least I got some Thai Cook around the Corner, and while I can't judge authenticity there, his stuff looks a lot mroe like what Uncle Roger showed and it had a pretty good Burn. Jamie Olivers... dish.. however - I'm quite sure I could only find a hint of spice, and only if I was looking for it.
For some reasons, I can’t stop looking at that cat. LOL

He definitely had a um… unique idea of what Asian food is 🤣
In certain way i must laugh at Jamie Oliver, for me it came across that he just read the ingredients list, replace the things he didn't like, mixing them by random and call it traditional authentic dish but Oliver style.

That's the most anemic green curry i've ever seen, it looks like a ghost green curry.
Although the addition of ghost pepper might have been nice in this case lol!

Mange tout is French for "eat all", its called that because its basically an immature sugar pea that you can eat whole (like a snow pea). I'm not Thai (I'm a kiwi). But really, he should've been using Thai pea eggplant (mak-heua puang) or Thai long beans (Thua fak yao). Its not hard to look up what sort of vegetables are commonly eaten.

@@nour2146 at least that is one thing he can get right with but still god the thing that pissed me off a bit or even cringed a bit on his takes on attempting to cook simple asian dishes like fried rice. Like god in asia fried rice is the most common and simple dish that even an amateur cooks who rarely cooks can cook a decent fried rice. You can't hardly messed it up as it is the most versatile dish in Asia, yet somehow Jamie just had to messed it up even tho egg fried rice is the easiest fried rice that you can cooked by yourself.
Tbh, this one angry me a lot....
I'm fine with the adaptation and modification of classic recipes. We live with a different set of limitations so recipe modification is unavoidable.
However, this one feels disrespectful. That "curry" is soulless. Almost every step is wrong. It's a tell-tale sign that he did zero research... what so ever.

I think Jamie Oliver has a Fungi Garden with all sorts of Mushrooms that he needed to use up quickly. Hence, Assorted Mushroom Chicken Soup....with a touch of Thai...to make it look exotic. Such disrespect to Thai cuisine. Perhaps the Thai King should put him under Crosshairs or a Hit List for the insult.😂
The green color in Thai Green Curry come from green chili.

Basmati rice is predominantly used for Indian rice dishes
It is just like he doesn't care or respect Asian cuisine enough to try.

@@TomodachiTable funny thing about Jamie Oliver. I accidentally stumbled on a video of people who Jamie Oliver made into enemies. He interferred with a US city stating that the school food was unhealthy, thing is, the menu he proposed was even less healthy and the students didnt even like the taste. Problem was that a fair good number of companies in the city made money providing food for the schools, negatively effecting the city's economy. Eventually, the school board dumped his menu, came up with a better tasting one and healthier than what he made.

Jammy Oliver just overcomplicated this dish and failed at the basics, I would love to see you make it properly. Also would be good to see you make Jamie version for comparison. An authentic Gang Kiew Wan is probably less effort than this version.

Mangetout are a type of pea which is eaten in the pod - so you eat the whole pod with the peas inside it. I think they're also known as sugar peas.
Jamie's dish could best be described as a pile of wet vegetables, rather than a curry! My sister also said that Jamie was wrong to put salt in the rice pan.

Mangetout is like edamame bean with the pod. But you eat the whole thing. Very usual thing you find in UK grocery. I never physically buy it as.I find it odd but not a bad snack/veggie. I just dont know what dish it is suitable for other than steam veggies lol
Mangetout is called sugar snap pea or snow pea in American and Australian English, so when he said "sugar snap" he got it right.

I am not a fan of curry, but this just looks wrong... It looks like when I tried to cook once, but accidentally overcooked the brokkoli for so long that it disintegrated and gave both the meat as well as the rice I mixed it with a green coating.

I'm not a cook and never had a green curry before but even I can tell that's not how curry made, doesn't look like curry at all. Also that's not how British people thinks what green curry is, that's how Jamie thinks green curry is. Just green with a lot of vegetables.

Easy way to cook a Thai curry is stop making your own curry paste, just buy a curry paste from the store. Easy to find and you don't have to buy that much ingredients
