Great review my guy! Here’s my perspective on the difference regarding Eminem dissing somebody’s age back then and somebody trying to diss Eminem’s age now:
When Eminem used Benzino‘s age as a diss, it was from the perspective of him still trying to blow up (but still being relatively unknown in terms of being a respected artist and still trying to chase the dream of blowing up at the age of 40 hits different than somebody trying to make fun of Em just for his age alone…because obviously Eminem is one of the highest selling artists in history, so it’s not like he’s still chasing that pipe dream of getting noticed. He’s had a 20+ year career in this arena already…so it just doesn’t hit the same (essentially, Em mentioning “age” is actually just the set up bar for the “you have no career” punchline).

Back in these days Eminem had so much passion when he got into a industry beef with anybody he couldn't be beat because of the passion and his word play and the way he set up everything he had to say to anybody especially Benzino and again I will say it he predicted Benzino's future he told him he would never be famous he'll never blow and he's never did, if that doesn't tell you when you're mad enough and you say something that shit will stick see I believe in that stuff, karma is a bitch!

This is the dopest part of the track. He drops multiple references to prior songs. The flow in the first verse is The Way I Am; the Say What You Say part; the way he said “as we proceed” is similar to Mosh and Lose Yourself; then “we’ll never fold or hold back” is similar to Soldier.
Perhaps I’m reaching but it’s not just the lyrics-he will repeat phrases somewhat often-it feels like he intentionally delivered the lines in the same cadence to make them sound like prior songs even if he switched up the words just enough. Which I think cleverly ties in with the larger point he was making.

Mm. The age disses aren't really so much about them being old, and so worse. It's more like, you're already this old, and only gotten this far. Here I am, already surpassin you, and I'm even younger, did what you did and went past it in a quicker amount of time, etc.
It's more a play on a way to show just how much more talented he is than his competition in this verse, because he's already blown up so much at this point in his career. So when other people try and use the diss on Em, it's just like, what? Because how many of the people using that diss are ever going to accomplish as much as Em has, be as good as Em is, by the time they're his age now? How many will even be relevant?
