  • Come underwater and watch how these different trailers move in the water, what their profiles look like, and pick your favorites! With 19 Trailers in 4 different profile categories, you're about to understand what makes one bait better than another! Today we're answering all the questions about chatterbaits! Which trailers work the best? Which ones are hype? Why do some baits get bit one day but not the next? Let's Go!
This video was a huge undertaking but was worth every second. Being able to see these different trailers and colors in the water answers countless questions. Going forward you can choose the best trailers for your application without having to waste money and time on all the others. Do your fish each bluegill? Try a "profile" trailer. Do your fish get pressured by other anglers? Its time for an "action" trailer and some erratic movement to draw the strikes.
With all the baits and trailers covered in this video its hard to keep them straight in your mind. Below you'll find links to all 19 trailer configurations, in order. We've also included our 4 favorite chatterbaits, as well as color recommendations whenever possible. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I found the best chatterbait trailer by far : black minnow’s body. It kicks fast like the blade, send light flashes with its flat sides... it over performs swim senko, easyshinners by a magnitude of ten. Crazy. The blue back or blue back chartreuse is my all time favorite on whiteish chatters.

One of my new found favorites is the zoom fluke stick. Randomly decided to try it bc I had a few used ones laying in the boat bc I save them for ned rigs but a zoom fluke stick trimmed down and on a chatter bait has a great action and for when you want a smaller less bulky profile making the fluke stick more versatile of a bait

Good video. I learned a thing or two, even though I'm not a tournament bass fisherman. If I was trying to win a contest, I'd do exactly as you suggest, but I have my own suggestions how to maximize your fish catching. 1) Fish as often as you possibly can to stay 'in practice'. 2) You don't have to have a boat, but it helps a lot. 3) Keep your tackle in well maintained condition regardless how high or low quality it is. 4) Keep your bait/lure in the water as much as possible. 5) Don't do tackle prep in the boat. Do as much rigging at home as you can. Don't make the fish wait for you to get it together.

The fluke has been my favorite trailer since I haven’t been able to pick up some spunk shads... (or I just keep forgetting 🙄😅) they haven’t been torn up too bad, but it could be the way the fish eat the bait... either way the blue spunk Shad and the pearl colors look ridiculously good. And for the craws I was noticing that the rage menace, while having less kicking action did give the bait a lot of rolling action, much like you go for in a swim jig

Matt ive heard you say you were stoked about the Chatterbait Mini Max, so I’ve got a trailer recommendation for y’all, and that is the Berkeley Powerbait Twitch Tail Minnow, it gives its that same profile as the Spunk Shad but in a smaller package. There was a company called Lucky John that was making a bait that was very similar in profile to the twitch tail, but I can no longer find them, and they were great on a full size chatterbait. I had multiple 30+ pound days using that bait, because it gives the best of all worlds, you can make it have the reaction like the spunk shad, but it gives a good profile, but it always gives a lot of action because of the little bulbous tail for a straight retrieve.

I like the flatworm style trailer. The Nikko Leech on a 3/8 jackhammer is my current favorite; just run it so the flat sides are vertical and the lobe tail is free to swing horizontally with the motion of the chatterbait

Why not the Lake Fork Live Magic Shad? I know it is similar to a Zako but it has a whale fluke. Very popular and tournaments proven.

I second the LF Magic Shad! Love the smaller Pearl or Shad color on the SpotRemover Jackhammer!

The 6th Sense Flush 5.2 is my go to trailer! There is a little ball at the end of the tail that creates an erratic action. The next new gear review should included a bunch of 6th Sense baits!

Spunk Shad has been the best hands down for awhile. Now everyone will throw it. The swim on looks awesome too

Nice as always, We agree on the chatter baits and funny I was just trying to find a trailer for the fire craw color, My go to has been the swim Senko upside down. I'll be trying the fluke and craws this spring.

I used the Yotoworm from 1000 Fish during the winter /spring transition with decent success but haven't had as much success during the spring. Not sure if you guys have thrown it but I'm curious what u guys think bout it.

Awesome video!!! But Definitely that super fluke was surprisingly good and I have it readily in my tackle. But definitely going to buy a bunch of spunk shad on my next order.

I was just watching the panfish patterns and I was looking off to the side and the image of the lure in my peripheral vision began swimming much more convincingly. I imagine what I was seeing is a bit closer to what the fish see.

You have got to try using a D Bomb as a trailer! It has been my number one producer! The legs on the D Bomb has awesome action on a chatterbait!

Lizards make great trailers too! I cut the heads off before putting them on. Great action and bass smash them. Especially around beds.

Honestly my favorites from this video were the Kickin Zako, the Cowboy, that big bite, and the zako. But pretty much 100% of the time, im throwing that zako. So much confidence in that bait.
