What knockers indeed! Great couple of projects and I'm glad you painted the lovely lady with some nice skin tones instead of a pale appearance. Sure, unrealistic, but hey, it's Vampirella! Great job as always Lou! -John
How perfectly monstrous of you. For all your talk, that's a fine gal's face. I could see the odd eyelid work in the sculpt, must'a looked good on the shop floor. Can't wait for the Froedrick work. Still love that movie.
Dear Lou, Thank You, so very much...for your video o X-plus's Vampirella kit. Been looking for someone to build this kit on the web. Bingo! You got it Lou. Perfect! Thank You! For her history as well...Wow!...Laugh! Next, year X-Plus plans to make a new plastic model kit of that fav. Vampirella poster you called about on your video. This, video Lou is your "BEST YET"! Thanks Again! All My Best, Matthew S. Holder (i.e creaturman)
i just ordered this kit and this video is very helpful! she is gorgeous. awesome work. i love the shading on the costume, looks like leather. i'm going to try to do the same on mine.
Vampirella is NOT a typical vampire. As a reader of the magazine since I was a kid, I can tell you that she was from another planet, and she takes a special serum that allows her to keep from having to drink human blood. She is also NOT effected by our planet's sunlight, unlike other vampires, Lou. This is why the artist, Jose Gonzales, gave her such a magnificent tan in his wonderful painting. So Vampirella never has to look particularly pale, but if you want to go that route, that's still fine. Frazetta seemed to make her fairly pale in his depictions, as did several other painters who did covers. It was common to see her with a nice, medium fleshtone on the old Warren Magazine covers. I really love how you handled Vampi's flesh, regardless! You're getting to be SO good at these figures! I think that her red outfit really pops! I also dig how you did the Frankenstein Monster's fleshtones. Very nice and cadaverous! Well done! "Putty buggers"?? "Seda-Give??!!" 🤣
Vampirella came from another planet that had blood instead of water in their rivers. No sunlight restrictions either so could have a tan. There's a huge number of wonderful illustrations of her. I think the one you were talking about was done by Frazetta.
Great little kits Lou! I love how you make the face painting look so simple. I loved your work on the Sucker Punch trio. Hey, just saw on Timeless Hobbies site here in the UK that there's a Vampirella 2.0 kit on the way with the famous bat-perched-on-the-finger pose. Face sculpt appears a little more natural.
Lou, I weaned myself off the Tamiya blacks a couple of years ago. I now use the Vallejo exclusively and since it is always available I am never at a loss. Vampi is looking lovely BTW. I got some 1/8 X-Men figures off eBay recently and they are so nice in raw resin its almost a shame to paint them. Whatba time to be a modeler.
Hi Lou, I know this is a bit of a late reply but... I usually build sci-fi ships and occasionally cars and have never felt confident enough to try a figure, but this video inspired me so I went out and bought what I thought was this very kit. However the kit I have is slightly different. It's still made by X-Plus but it has a different base, Vampirella does have the famous outstretched hand with the bat on her finger and, more interestingly her outfit is separate and is added over her body. Anyway, here goes nothing, wish me luck.
I know it'll be too late by the time you see this, if you see this, but the seam where the boot meets the shoe, for lack of a better descriptor, is actually quite realistic and doesn't need to be sanded (unless obviously you prefer it) as a lot of boots will have a look to them when you can sort of see the "shoe base" and then the sort of added on extra material that makes it into a boot. Just thought it might help some people to know that they don't have to fix that seam if they'd rather not and it'll still be realistic
it looks better when it's all together and painted. still over-engineered, tho. they could have done a simple right and left half and the result would have been the same
She’s a breeder. You built the Maschinenmensch from Metropolis from that X-whomever, too, didn’t you? I saw it there on the instructions and thought you had. The Young Frankenstein characters will go smashingly with your lab. Very cool idea to go with those, rather than the traditional ones.
Yeah, this will be late also, but the tan is because Vampirella is a Vampiri from the planet Drakulon. They drink blood from rivers the way we drink water, so that's why the creative license. I know, it's silly, but Forry Ackerman is to blame, not me. He created the character.
If you remember that far back vampi was always a day walker hence the tan ,I remember building her years ago ( I think it was an aurora remold ) those damned seams on those kits " another reason I still haven't started my Elvira" 🤫
My parents didn't care when I was obsessed with vampi / shi / she hulk among other female characters ( had the kits, posters ) as well as my sci-fi stuff anime etc if they saw something they would either buy it or tell me about the items just in case I wanted them 😁 being a modeller "any subject" they encouraged me in my hobbies as it kept me outta trouble
I could have sworn I left a comment on your last Frankenstein's lab video. I just wanted to mention that green stuff world has a product called spider serum that is basically an airbrushable spider web material for models. I have personally never tried it but thought it might work for your project.
Is it just me, or does the monster sculpt look kinda llike Kurt Russell? Beautiful builds. He looks perfectly rude and crude paired with Vampirella. I wasn't even aware there was a model of Wilder's Dr. Fronkenstein. I guess I can wait for the paint job.
well i see it and tuck my ideear of doing YOUNG FRANKEN STINE good stuff and other stuff looking good yes the vamps the diva this time wiLl see as post
Lou , You shouldn't use Tamiya putty over Vallejo acrylic paint . Its a lacquer based putty , best over raw plastic . Get some Vallejo plastic putty to go over Vallejo Paint.
@@SeansModelBuilds no. I've done the 2 color azteks and then a faux texture pattern on top. Even Paul Olsen has said that the five color version he did never had a distinct pattern. He started that way, but as he started to run out of time, the pattern got looser and looser til he just gave up and just made random colors on random shapes.
Lou, are we noticing a trend toward you making all these lovely, voluptuous, scantily clad, femme fatal's? Perhaps you need to get a hobby......all in fun, my friend.....🤩

Looks like Lou really had dirty hands while handling Vampirella!

awww man now i want that Vampirella kit.
Man, I just love your work!! Thanks for sharing with us, Lou.
Great job on Vampie, Lou! I’ve never had an issue with knowing what paints you use, you do a great job explaining what you’re using.
What an excellent job. Definitely gonna try your skin tone colors

Love the intro music 🎼🎶

thats the new release. I prefer it to the original. it's on the pile to build when i get back from WF

Nice work. Knew you’d kill it after those Sucker-Punch figures.
this is about as small a figure as I would want to paint.

I'm eagerly waiting on the maria (i ain't typing that long-ass name) it's not been released just yet

that's all coming back to me now. I didn't follow the book, I just knew about the poster
Howdy, Lou! X-Plus is big on producing vinyl kaiju kits (lots of Godzilla stuff) but they're starting to branch out into styrene.
im looking forward to the Maria kit

The first female that got my attention when I was an young male was Valerie Perrine (Miss Tessmacher) in Superman.
My Father seemed to find my obsession with Vampirella and Charlies Angels healthy. And yes I had that 6 ft poster you mentioned. 😛

Beautiful job Sir where did you get the vampire and monster models

Would apoxy sculpt help the hair look more realistic?
Maybe a watered down bondo would fill the seam. Adding epoxy sculpt might raise the area up and call out the seam even more.
vampireila was my girel frind in the 60's

I'm afraid of what it would do to the airbrush. I have a hard enough time cleaning just regular paint 😁
@@aztekdummy I totally understand. They do offer a "spider serum cleaner" as well, but it still may be too much of a risk.
On those seems. Best advice. Stop using that tomea putty. Use automotive spot putty. Tomea shrinks for years

How do you fix the shoulder seams on the glow-in-the-dark version? The Tamiya putty would not glow.
I would make up a goop with acetone and leftover glow sprue.
@@aztekdummy Thank you.
Hey Lou, Gambody has a Frankenstein's Monster.......
I saw that, too. The pose is wrong for what I need.
Arrrghhh!....just one of those texture paints...looks like concrete...WHAT paint?🤪
So demanding...rustolem multicolored texture aged iron. In the big rattle can.
Please show the Igor when that happens. Too bad Marty didn't live to see his legend grow.
