Great video with solid advice! Especially at 14:47 I have no real interest in talking to falang bar managers in the lady bars of Thailand, I go there to talk to Thai ladies. I seek out bars that are owned and run by Thais as I usually seem to have a better time. Which is probably why I have drifted away from Soi Six as most of the bars run by a certain group are more about meeting the needs of the falang managers than the needs of the customer. I kept hearing sob stories about how the numbers are down etc. I really don't care, I'm there to get drunk and laid 😁
I will only engage in conversation if I feel the person wishes to.

This is great info thanks Phil. I can honestly say I tick all those boxes as a candidate to owning a bar but with one big exception.... I don't want to own a bar 🙂 Maybe I would be better as a silent partner type of owner....

Well done yourself Phil. Very interesting, informative and entertaining Stuff. Personally I think Self discipline and keep yourself real in Pattaya is a tough challenge. I’m just back home to England 🏴 from my latest 18 days holidays trip in Pattaya. I mean is been a Blast 💥. The drinking..! The women, is very addictive environment. I hear that you’re very professional and a lovely guy. I wish you nothing but the best for the new year. I hope all your blessings come true. I've watched various CZcamsrs in Thailand who've started a business and failed within a short time. They have so much enthusiasm at the start and when the dream comes to an end they appear miserable. Maybe if they had watched your videos things might've been different, who knows.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to be on CZcams before your bar is open and has had some time open.

What is the fail rate of bar owners in pattaya I think 20% will make ago of it and 80% fail . I would like to see what the failure rate was.
Well, if you watch the video , it’s 100% failure rate. All bars fail.
Good advice...i'm not really interested in owning any bar but if i did own one in Thailand, going off with the girls would be my weakness (in the beginning anyway) until it eventually gets boring...But i guess to solve that problem would be when you do get in the mood just go off with a bar girl from someone else's bar instead, and leave your own bar girls alone.... the rest that you advised i wouldn't have any problems.

There’s always been a lot of businesses turning over, so not a new phenomenon, but I think it could get interesting regarding the cannabis legislation
Businesses turning g over my arse there's loads closed open your eyes and many more the low season

I've also noticed Brits are usually pissed by 8pm and some are causing a world of problems. I don't care what problems are in your life, learn to control your drinking, don't bring your problems from back home here.
What a terrible slur on my countrymen 😉 Yes, many Brits are here running away from their problems. But there are plenty of other Nationalities doing the same. And, many Brits just go about their lives in peace.

Some well thought out advice Phil. The more I watch your videos and see your bald head it brings back a drunken blurry memory where I was at the Windmill paying up another tab for the night and I can remember under the stairs near the bath tub sat a man a lot like you at a cash register and I was given by you or the Mamasan a VIP members card which I still have to this day. The girls at the bar would shout from the stage as I walked in "T-Bone kee mao". Yes I was a bit of a "Drunk noodle" back then upon my arrival. Good memories 🤣🤣

Worth noting that only a minority of bars turn out to be a success. You need to have an edge or something new/different in a very crowded market. Location is also huge, but of course, all the best places are already taken or the rent is enormous on any prime location bars.
As I said, at the start of his video, it’s all about the definition of success. Some bars only last a few months and some decades. I agree about the location thing, but it’s easy to get good profit in a good foot fall location.

5.90 Phil goes on rant about money , he is correct what he is saying, if you can’t crunch numbers or work out basic accounting you will go under , running a small business is universal the same , long hours day in day out and a grind , even with bar girls , u need to understand every day has a cost value , so every day that cost needs to be met or it compounds into broke , numbers numbers numbers …..

@@LePubPattaya Maybe that seemed a bit mean to you Phil, but I watched your whole video. I've watched a lot of your content as a long time subscriber. You're an entertaining personable guy, I can see why you have a lot of friends and loyal customers.
However I do honestly feel that bar ownership is generally a terrible idea for a whole host of reasons.
But I'd split it into 2 categories primarily- the business/ economics reasons and the moral/ethical/legal reasons.
For me personally the second category preclude me from even really worrying too much about the first.
You can, with some justification, call me a massive hypocrite since I'd be lying if I said I'd never had fun in girly bars in SE Asia and I'd also be lying if I said I'd never had ..err... takeaway🙄
However would I ever want to be involved in the human flesh business as an owner not a customer? I don't think so. And that's what it is, however you choose to frame it or dress it up, you're not running a Witherspoons. You're running a Nok or Fan spoons - for a price. Of which you get a cut in the form of bf and lady drinks, depending how you choose to work it.
Would I be involved in running a business like that in my native Glasgow? A dodgy massage parlour with happy endings or a strip club where the girls did 'extras'. No, not for me. It's mostly run my criminal gangs at home anyway so it's moot. So why does doing it in the sunshine 6000 miles away make it suddenly ok?
Prostitution is technically illegal in Thailand let's not forget and so is living off the proceeds of it - aka pimping. Now in Thailand that can usually all be taken care of with regular donations to the boys in brown retirement fund but sometimes not - as a certain Night wish group owner has found out the hard way.
And just to be VERY clear here, even if you try your absolutely hardest to ensure that every girl in your bar is legal age for this illegal activity, if she isn't then you could wind up inside for an extremely long time. Even having deep pockets might not save you once the media are involved.
So for me it's dead in the water before we even get into the financials. Which are generally pretty terrible. The ratio of highly successful, highly profitable bars to failed ones makes pretty grim reading. Being the landlord actually is much more the actual business to be in. As a bar owner you're not just at the mercy of him, but at market forces, girls that can - and often do - jump ship en masse without notice, the cops and the legal system in general and a million other reasons.
Most of the bar owners I know personally over the years lost money, lost their health to alcoholism, lost all sense of morality as they tended to sample the merchandise🙄
Yeah, I'll stick to high yield corporation bonds and fixed interest fx accounts. It's not very exciting - 7/8 percent return net. But I can sleep at night and look myself in the mirror. Most of the time at least 😂

@@LePubPattaya Sorry I did not mean any disrespect, but for every successful bar owner, there are several dudes that lost their life savings because they did not know what they were signing-up for. Perhaps they had the wrong idea from the get go, "run a bar where they can drink, score on the girls and at the same time make money" this is a fantasy.
Only put money into a bar that you can afford to lose, in case it goes t*ts up. You don’t want to end up with nothing. Glad your bar worked out well Phil.
Too many people gamble the family silver and don’t do it in a serious way. They just play around when they get their bar and waste their money. Thank you for your comment.
