☝🤓 Uhmm actually Biomes O' Plenty was a thing even before 1.7.10 and 2015. On the official github you can find (albeit expired) links to versions for mc down to 1.5.2 and on mcarchive there are archived versions for 1.3.2 - 1.4.7
Woah interesting, thanks for letting me know!
Can you do regions Unexplored. Next.@@infernalstudiosMC
@@jackirish9022 I'll think about it...
REAL we had mesas and savannas (and Blue Cobblestone crag)
Yeah I was going to say I remember the 1.6.4 Crack Pack had it
I'm assuming you weren't there for the older versions. But fot context, the bamboo grove was made *before* Minecraft officially added bamboo to the game. I'm surprised he even kept the biome around considering how much the dev loves cutting legitimately cool content
oases my beloved... oh how they masscred you...
@@violasses or the the OG mangrove... Or the Dryland/Thicket...
Ebony wood my beloved
What's the best version of BOP in your opinion?
@@infernalstudiosMC hmmm... That's a good question. I'm really not super sure because as I said before, they remove a lot of content quite a bit, but also add content alot as well. Maybe either the 1.7.10 or 1.12.2 version? Those have some of the most content (including my favorite wood type ebony) but some of the biomes can be... Weird
@@infernalstudiosMC especially the 1.7.10 version, there was so many goddamn useless items and blocks. But idk, they were still pretty in my opinion
Man I miss old Biomes o plenty, my favorite biome was the alps one with huge tall snow mountains but they didn’t gradually get steeper and the were flat on top. With ice lakes and rivers at the base
God Biomes O Plenty used to be so good
Then he kept removing shit because "cluttering" that shit was pretty goddamnit
That sounds really cool :0
I just looked it up and some of them are really cool. Is there mod that adds them back?
Same. There were so many cool biomes that got removed for who knows why. Reading the current wiki page there are almost as many as removed biomes as there are current ones. Thankfully now there are other biome and terrain generation mods out there to create some competition.
I haven't left .16 yet lol
mystic grove at B is criminal
YEAH HOW WAS THAT B, THAT'S AN S, S+ EVEN
the grass color alone gets it to A, and the sky color boosts it to S
came down here to say exactly this
BOP's a very mixed bag, I have about a third of the biomes disabled due to how forgettable they are. It used to have some really cool biomes and some even had unique mechanics, but BOP removed it all to make every biome uniform. I've heard it said that the mod wants to be more like vanilla Minecraft but... Vanilla keeps pushing towards making the biomes MORE mechanically and visually unique, each with their own resources and style. The BOP mod made itself emptier and less interesting.
And it wasn't always like that:
The Alps were absolutely massive, they had these hot springs that gave you regeneration when you hopped inside and they were insanely tall.
The orchard biome used to actually have apple tress like BYG's until the fun police decided they were too op and turned the *orchard* into a forest with no fruit.
The sacred springs jungles had these huge trees, thick growth, these cool overhangs, and hot springs, then they were made flat (for some reason), then removed entirely.
The Eucalyptus Forest had these lovely rainbow logs that were colorful while still looking natural, it was a patently great biome that was removed... Seemingly just because. BYG has one just like it though.
The Ashen Inferno of the nether was like the Soul Sand wasteland before that was a thing, though it had one interesting thing that makes it worth mentioning, the blue fire didn't burn you, it had this unique effect that made you thrash about uncontrollably for a bit.
The nether used to have these giant hive structures full of honey you could swim in, and if you broke inside you had to fight giant wasps.
The Flower Island was a rare biome filled with giant flowers instead of trees. The grass texture even had little white flowers on it.
The BOP mod is still good and the new additions like the Fungal Jungle and Glowing mushroom caves look amazing and show that the author still has that lovely creative spark. But they also got rid of some of their more interesting biomes for nebulous, arbitrary, reasons and stripped away every unique mechanic or mob that dared to crop up. The biomes feel empty. Not to mention their choices of what to keep and what to drop are bizarre, how did the clover field, grassland, and woodland, keep being ported, while the flower island and eucalyptus forest get left behind?!
How interesting :0 If I were to make a video on the old versions of BOP in the future, which version would you recommend?
@@infernalstudiosMC I've only played it in 1.12.2, 1.15, 1.16.5, and 1.18 so I can't speak for all of them, but I'm pretty sure 1.12.2. had all the things I listed here except the apple trees.
BYG has quite a few of BOP's discarded ideas in it, like the orchard and eucalyptus trees a video ranking their biomes would be cool too.
@@infernalstudiosMC Honestly, it might be worth doing a video going through most of the versions/covering the biomes and their (different enough to warrant) versions?
I LOVE the Alps and the Giant flower fields. Also the Alps’s base should’ve been used for the Vocano idk why the Volcano is so…flat
@@anhminhnguyen7462 >idk why the Volcano is so…flat
Shield Volcano :V
Now do Regions Unexplored, and Alex's Caves, and Biomes You'll Go, TeamAbnormals, and...
ALEX CAVES PLS ALEX CAVES
also somewhat unrelated, the mod Born in Chaos fits in VERY well with your Enemy Expansion Mod theme-wise if you ever wanted to check that out :D
and the tartarus
Regions is honestly my fav biome mod ever, keeps the vanilla feel but still gives lots of beautiful biomes. Not to mention the great colors palettes it has for wood (except the painted wood it’s quite ugly lol)
@@troygillis6801 Oooh I'll consider it for the future!
*fistbumps you*
"How am I supposed to make porriage in minecraft now, huh?"
"Unfortunately, despite the name, the marsh does not contain marshmallows...aww..."

I can't believe I just watched an almost 40 minute video of a person ranking biomes. Well, I enjoyed every second of it, thank you!
:D Thank YOU so much for watching all the way through, I massively appreciate that!!
Damn, i didn't know they removed the overgrown garden (i think this is its name). it was a biome that had a unique flowerly grass and no trees, only poppies and dandelions. But the thing that sold that biome is that instead of trees, there was GIANT poppy and dandelion version that looked so surreal and pretty. It was very rare but one of my faves none the less
Grassland is S tier no discussion
Building? Easy to terraform?
Biomes o' Plenty, a very nice mod... that I almost never use in survival packs. Feels like it makes modded structures and stuff a whole lot rarer, and also OH MY GOD SO MUCH FLORA.
ok fun fact for the cold desert, it may be inspired by the extremely obscure pre b1.8 ice desert biome, which never generated naturally but were going to be the coldest biome supposedly
Ooh that IS fun!
Biomes O Plenty? I sure hope they are!
You should rank the biomes from the terralith datapack. It’s interesting what they managed to do with only vanilla blocks
Will strongly consider this for the future... >:D
wait until Terralith 2.5 though, some biomes are way worse in the current version (looking at the Ice Marsh in particular, yikes)
I like the older versions with the wackier biomes that sadly don't exist or get nerfed
I've noticed a change in the algorithm that recommends videos to me, and now videos with little views have been appearing on my feed. Sometimes they're just random Minecraft playthroughs with as little as 5 views made by some 9-year-old, and sometimes it's videos like *this* that would have genuinely piqued my interest but would've gone completely undiscovered if it weren't for this weird little algorithm change! I'm usually not one to make comments on videos, but I just wanted to say I absolutely love this video! I'm astonished that you only have 4k subscribers as of me writing this. Everything about the video down to the humor, editing, and even the little art of your guy talking is really charming! The production quality is absolutely amazing.
I love these types of videos, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more biome-focused mod reviews if you ever plan on making more. I'm just really glad CZcams brought me here. Please keep up the amazing work! 💛
Thank you so much!! I put a ton of work into these, and I mega-appreciate the acknowledgement! 🥺 I definitely want to do more biome videos in the future, though the next couple won't be that - Still, I hope you'll stick around to see what I do! Thanks a ton for the kind comment
@@infernalstudiosMC Oh wow, hey! CZcams screwed me over by not even notifying me when you replied.
I viewed some of your other videos, and I'm glad I can say I'm a huge fan of your other content as well! I'll definitely be sticking around for *all* of your future work, please keep it up!
I know terralith is no mod, but man. I feel it makes minecraft look way more stunning than biomes o plenty
Terralith is one of my favourites! I love how it palpably affects even terrain height too
Terralith is both a data pack and a mod lol!!
This is a really nice way to be able to engage in Biome Mods (and possibly other kinds of mods in the future?) without actually having to load up the mod myself and seek out every single biome to get a good look at it, especially since there's so many. Would love to see more in the future.
Thank you! I'm glad the video is serving it's purpose well :D I'll strongly consider it!
Biomes O'Plenty has been with us since like 1.4.7, I most definitely remember playing the old Feed The Beast packs with BOP installed.
And the trees in the Cherry Blossom Grove and Lavender Forest got a massive overhaul in 1.20+ thanks to the Cherry Blossom leaves from vanilla.
id also like to note that the mediteranean forrest also contains calcite beaches on its lakes and rivers which just for some reason just makes it my favorite biome
THAT'S RIGHT! I forgot to mention that like a dingus! I love that about them too! :D
Correction (21:58) : The Origin Valley actually features Roses, which were unfairly abandoned in favor of the Poppies in version 1.7.2, which I'm very upset about to this day.
I feel like current Minecraft's terrain generation doesn't really mesh well with most of these biomes. Feel like things are too vertical and hilly. Not a fault of the mod, obviously, but it seems weird that a "field" biome has pretty steep craggy hills scattered about. It just looks weird. I feel like most of these biomes would look a lot better in more flat, open terrain. I do appreciate the video as it showcases what's in the current version quite well. It is a damn shame so many biomes were removed from the mod. I'm pretty sure there was a dimension at one point? I think the mod author has sorta lost the plot and has just resorted to making really plain, boring, and sometimes straight-up ugly looking biomes. Oh well, good video though. I do agree that Better Nether is abhorrent to look at.
Ngl i really ended up liking regions unexplored mod better, biomes o plenty may my hold my attention but regions unexplored is holding my heart 💀
ENGLAND is a fair and justified way to describe any rainy depressing biome, 11/10
Absolutely insane humor, the only way I could watch a tier list video in its entirety
HAH Thank you so much! Super glad you enjoy it :D
best part was the "stop raining!" only for the rain to fade right back in lol
I really like the look of the Bog because it reminds me of the Australian outback (I'm definitely not biased) To me it feels like a more realistic place that I could actually see in real life (because I can)
Real life Bogs are very pretty - I think if instead of Trees there were just a load of bushes, BOP's take would fair way better in my rankings...
LOVED the video, would pay to see you guys make videos like this for oh the biomes you’ll go and regions unexplored!
Aw man, i would kill for more videos like this one, absolutely lovely!
Interestingly enough the more dull/boring biomes are the best for building/terraforming imo
I notice the people with the most eh buildings build their base in stunningly beautiful biomes but people with really good building skills settle in the drab biomes with dead bushes
Yo this was my first vid on your channel! Highly underrated creator! Hope to see you blow up one day. Have a nice ine
Thank you so much!! :D
THIS VIDEO IS INCREDIBLE!!!! WHY SO LITTLE VIEWS?
THANK YOU!!
It just came out..
@@DarkDoughnutsVids now after 3 days I can say, WHY SO LITTLE VIEWS? lol
The visceral heap is adorable and looks like it would go great with (biomancy) perfect for the bile caverns I like to make my home base in.
bayou blues has one of the prettiest swamp biomes imo
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE TRANSITIONS IN THIS VIDEO
Great video, you actually helped me decide which biomes to disable (and there was quite a lot of them), because I personally hate adding biomes that rely purely on vanilla blocks or aren't feature rich enoguh to be considered unique.
One thing to note that Geophilic Reforged actually improves some of these biomes albeit with vanilla features and blocks.
Thanks a ton! Super glad it helped you! My goal is being realised :D
Interesting, I'll check that out! thanks!
Great intro, great editing, good quality and good writing. The only problem is the repetive format but that is to be expected with this type of video. Maybe having it split up into a couple smaller videos would've worked but great video overall!
Thank you so much!!
Yeah, I agree it can get a little repetitive... I think the only way to solve that would be to condense multiple small segments into larger segments overall, in the way I did with certain biomes and their sub-biomes - That or really switch up the presentation style significantly in certain areas, but then I would've spent four months on this instead of nearly two 😭
Still, good feedback for me to keep in mind if I try this type of video again in the future!
Super glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the comment!
This video feels like it would be an actual minecraft channel video
We need more videos going in depth of popular mods. Great work.
Thanks a ton dude!
you have a fantastic voice to listen to !! i'm a big fan of this mod and this video has been great to listen to while drawing :))
Thank you!!
the fact that there is a mix of basic, ugly, and beautiful biomes is really cool! they have a really good balance and I don’t usually say this but the mod feels like it belongs in vanilla!
I totally agree! :D
I think this is a great video. Excellent presentation with what I think most people would consider at somewhat agreeable takes, also a great way to learn about biomes o plenty. One thing I think would improve the video would be detailing what mobs and structures spawn in the biomes.
i was trying to watch this while waiting for a bus, unfortunately siince 75% of the footage is shot at night i'll have to leave this to watch when i get indoors somewhere, aside from that, i really like this style of narration and editing
Thank you for that! I'll try and brighten the night footage in the future
Hey this is a really damn good video. I mean REALLY good. It's always the smaller youtubers that can pump out videos that are entertaining without yelling obnoxiously in your face. (Just saw this was Infernal EXP's channel; really nice mod as well. I love the Glowstone Canyons.) I think it would be neat if you did a semi-series doing these kind of rankings for popular biome mods? I personally would really enjoy an Oh the Biomes You'll Go one (I will meatride that mod 'till infinity; been my favorite mod period since 2021 and I don't think it will ever change.) due to their more fantastical biomes and more bountiful amount of Nether and End biomes. Regions Unexplored and Terralith would also be nice to see, but those aren't the ones I'm biased towards so........ yeah I would really enjoy a BYG video like this. Incredible work though. it provides a great overview for those trying out the mod, and I found myself agreeing with you a large amount of the time.
Thank you so much dude!! I would love to do more biome reviews sometime, though they're an incredibly high-effort endeavour - This took seven weeks all the way through and caused me considerable health strain in the end :'D But if I can figure it out sometime, for sure!
How about the 3 new end biomes? They're only 1.20.4 I'm pretty sure, so they wouldn't be in the version discussed in the video
My personal ratings
End Wilds - I'd say A, nice orange/yellow color and grey trees that fit the End's dead feel. The purple inside of the logs stick out a bit in my opinion
End Reefs - B, I like the "dead" feel it's going for, but the clutter is a bit much, and the sand doesn't blend well with the end stone. Wispjelly jellyfish are just kinda there
End Corruption - D, conceptually a really cool biome, but the absolute epitome of visual noise with the black and magenta textures and "anomaly" blocks cycling through textures
I looove the Wilds! I might cover them in a future vid more generally about the End...
the biggest thign i miss from old BoP is the fungal jungle from 1.16 which had a unique blue grass and leaves, it was so cool
My man its older and fantastic in old versions this mod, I remember playing before 1.7 and it was amazing considering old days Minecraft biomes
My girlfriend put your video on the living room tv and your takes were so bad i immediately looked up this video half way though so I could dislike and comment my disapproval of your opinions.
I'm laughing so hard thank you so much HAHA
this is whats youtube about
9:55 I've been to beaches that have grass density like this so it's not unreasonable
Now you gotta do Oh the Biomes You'll Go, great vid
Is this a underrated youtuber thats really enjoyable to watch and good editing?
Thank you!! 🥺
Yes :D

Damn I really love the Cherry Wooden Planks from this mod. Such a nice and vibrant shade of red
Saaame!
Great video? Could you do another video with the same premise but with Terralith, or some other world gen mod?
Nice list, unique perspective. Snow is beautiful like white canvas, but deadly cold isn't shown in this mod unless adding tempature mods to it.
Version number for biomes of plenty would be nice in description. Helps a lot viewers and those interested.
Good shout, will do that! Thanks for the comment!
this video got u a new subscriber:))) I love biomes o plenty!!!!
Wow, a minecraft youtuber that is actually funny without being over the top?
Now That! Is something to subscribe for 👍
HAHA Thank you!
Please do Biomes You'll Go next! Very well made video I love it!
Thank you so much! :D I'll consider it!
0:56 Oh good heavens! 😭😭😭😭
I feel like people who hate this mod because there's no 'function' to these biomes, are playing the wrong game... in the sense that all minecraft is about is pretty pixels, and resource gathering is just a way to make the game hold your interest for a little longer
This one of the mods I always enjoyed & I like combined it with Tropicraft.
the old crag was.. for a very specific type of person, glad to see it’s been improved
This is one of the few mods I think you could just port directly into minecraft without it feeling weird, it just adds to the vanilla experience so seamlessly
Babe spread my ashes in the Visceral Heap 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thats a very good thumbnail mr infernal studios
the SA2 transition is pretty funny
Hell yeah >:]
Honestly, I would love to see a video like this but for terralith and incendium
Do you have a playlist for the music?
Almost all the songs are by LudoCrypt, and each one is credited in the bottom right of the biome title cards! Her work is on Spotify if you wanna check it out there :D
The effort and time it must have taken to edit this video gave me anxiety 😅 nice work sir
It took so goddamn long man :'D Thank you so much!
I've noticed a lot of biomes from Extra Biomes XL (an old biome mod from 1.4 and earlier) are in BOP now. Was there like a merger or something?
Also I swear at one point the barley could be made into bread.
Im still mad atvthe devs for removing the feature with the hot strings in the enchanted forest; they use to heal you for half a heart every second you were in them. "balancing" something like that by straight up removing it was completely stupid if you ask ne
Need to rank terrafirmacraft biomes next. I loved that mod so much that I took the texture files and made my own resource pack just so i could be reminded of it when on servers
Watched the whole thing ! Nice editing and humour. I hope you make a twilight forest video
Thanks buddy! :D
okay tbf the Old Growth Woodland is goated with Falling Tree
NGL I’d be interested to see you rank/review other mods like this.
Alex’s Caves and/or Alex’s Mobs I think would be neat to see.
I want the promised land back 😭 along with the sacred saplings and garden biome😢 thankfully I can still play older versions that have them HEHE
The Crag biome became rocky stone instead of the blue soiled shattered terrain it used to be?! I feel betrayed for some reason. It's probably been years and was liked by people, but it's still a loss to me!
Is Sacred Springs in this version? I used to make ridiculous tree bases back on InfEvo out of sacred oaks. I would have a magical dark forest under the canopy, and everyone else on the server would grind to a halt if they made the trek to my chunks.
do 1.12.2 the modern versions take out literally all the interesting things
whats the name of the mod compat that adds the slime? D:
Mob Compack!
Are the blue silk glowy thingys harvestable ?
8:32 is that background music not your rain?
Now do the add-on to this mod you mentioned at the Crystal Caverns!
Hearing one of Ludocrypt's songs in the background for the deadland biome, i believe it's breathing corridor?
All of the songs are credited at the bottom right of the screen during each biome intro card!
@@infernalstudiosMC oh thanks, i didn't see those
Now rank every gregtech item
your voice and pronunciation is actually perfect. im surprised youve only got 9k subs
It would be very nice if you covered 1.12.2 version of this mod! I feel like its when BoP peaked, having more biome variation and of course my beloved Boreal Forest and Grove. Also removing bluebells from fir forest was criminal.
I'm strongly considering it tbh! :D
I LOVE your voice and personality. Excellent Video!
Aw! 🥺 Thank you so much!!
1.12.2 was honestly the best version I played. It had a lot of nice biomes that got removed in newer versions, some biomes were better then (I like the old bayou more for example) and many custom blocks and items like the gemstones or the poison water for example got removed later for no reason

camouflageeeeeeee
I just realized THE RAINFOREST IS THE TERRARIA JUNGLE. The mahogany trees, the grass color, even the water color is the same
Crag my beloved
It's sooo cool on amplified worlds
WHY DOES IT NOT MATTER HOW MUCH I TURN THE VOLUME UP, YOU'RE STILL QUIET!!!
(Not actually upset)
I have a hearing disability so i try my best to keep the volume down for my neighbors. A good 9 to 10 is usually enough for me to understand conversations. But I kept just not hearing you. Lol
I finished the video on 30. Heaven forbid i got an add while it was that high.
Your review was actually really helpfull btw, looking for a biomes mod to use for my first pc.
Remembered playing Pixelmon with BoP like 4-5 years ago and getting a nostalgia rush seeing these biomes again.
Don’t really like Biome mods since I like the feel of the original biomes and when i do use a biome mod it just changes the terrain and stuff.
My favorite bop biome is probably the Maple woods biome just like the Autumn aesthetic
Maple Woods 4 lyfe 🤝 Was that back when Pixelmon had blocky models? I don't like the game-accurate ones they use now HAHA
*Laughs in Sacred Springs*
Do you know if this mod's rose quartz is compatible with Create's rose quartz?
It isn't, but you can easily add that compat yourself with a datapack!
@@infernalstudiosMC Thanks!
hey, i’m the manager of the BOP wiki and a lot of the biomes were innacurate, since the bamboo grove was removed when 1.20.1 added the cherry grove. i presume you got the list of biomes from either there or the github page. i do apologize for that, and admittedly i need to work on updating it. i actually also made a few of the textures for the retextures o plenty texture pack
This is a review of the 1.19.2 version of the mod specifically! Are there mistakes pertaining to that specific version in here?
@@infernalstudiosMC the only ones i believe is that the bamboo/cherry blossom grove were removed, other than that i think its all correct a part from a few name changes in later versions
6:02 WAS THAT THE BITE OF 97-
Pronounced Buy-oo. Great vid
I know, I cried at this mispronunciation
The video would've been better if you didn't use an outdated version of the mod to take biomes from. If I'm not wrong, they added some new biomes and even new woodtypes. If you take a look at the Jade Cliffs now, they look a lot better because they no longer have Spruce trees, but Pine trees instead. This is just an example, you should really take a look at the most recent version of the mod.
That's fair! I'm just reviewing what I use the most here. I might make a follow up someday though...
Like how the Glowing Grotto has similar fungi and stalagmites like Wild Caves. And the Coniferous Forest and Redwood Forest gives MorebiomesXL vibes. Good old times of modded minecraft 😌
Would give them S only for Nostalgia
(Aside from the Mystic Groove, it stolen from Thaumcraft 💀)
next do Regions unexplored's biomes
