Phal is a style of curry started in England it isn't a cultural thing. It means 'jump' in Bangladeshi, but the real reason is that they created it as a joke for English diners who are trying to prove to their mates they have the biggest PHALlus by eating it. They don't eat Phal in Bangladesh - it is a culinary joke played on drunken Englishmen. The staff just enjoy watching your silliness.
I'm English the trick is to empty ALL the rice on your plate and add about half the curry , mix it in then add the rest it cools down fast so you can just shovel it all in super quick.
Order mango lassie to neutralize the spice
