There wouldn’t be a dokken without Don cause he hired the rest of the members like a band for his solo carrer and breaking the chains was the first album from his ”solo” carrer but it changed after that album.
All really good live bands needed at least two lead singers. One was the frontman, the others were the anchors of the vocals. Those bands were, and are, the best live ones.

Absolutely correct! Lennon/McCartney! The Eagles! Chris Fucking Squire of Yes! Those are THE BEST bands. For me the #1 thing that sets a band apart, especially live, is quality backing vocals. Pilson is up there with the very best.
Jeff has that range still to this day, and Don just cannot do it anymore. I mean Don can still sing, but not in that high falsetto anymore. I will say the tables have turned, and Don harmonizing with Jeff would be awesome!

If 17 year old me back in the 80's could have seen the future to me looking at my cell phone showing "Jeff Pilson Calling" I wouldn't have believed it.
I think Jeff is twice the vocalist Don Dokken is. I bet he's twice the personality as well. Very good vocals and I like it very much, good job and I like this particular version.
Dokken should have had Jeff Pilson sing a few songs or he could've sung more backup vocals and harmonizing parts, it would have made Dokken more Dynamic as a band.
Nearly all of the harmonies, especially the high stuff, on all Dokken recordings - was Jeff singing. Listen to the original demo of “Dream Warriors” here on CZcams where he sings lead and dubs in the harmonies, and you’ll be able to hear his contribution to the final recording. The high melody voice in the chorus for “In My Dreams” is him. Don is doing falsetto in that harmony. The body of the sound in that song’s chorus is coming from Jeff’s voice, with Don and Mick harmonizing over him.

He sounds way better than Don has since the 90s. I just love his voice. That "golden tenor". Reminds me of Peter Frampton, "Lonesome Dave" Peverett (Foghat/Savoy Brown), etc. Clean and smooth but with a little grit on hand if needed.
Kale Baldwin WHOA- You said Peter Frampton, that's exactly the the same vocal tones I heard from Frampton Comes Alive album many years ago. I totally agree,Jeff sounds great!
I remember reading that Don Dokken had some sort of vocal chord surgery somewhere around the 80's. Still I think he had a very limited voice range even on a good day. Musically speaking, the Lynch, Pilson and Brown trio had some real heavy chord structures, very melodic hooks, and Don's voice was always a bad counterweight.
It is hard to imagine how old this music is. I remember buying the first record and seeing them in concert many times. And it seemed like an eternity later around 1988 talking to this guy at a party who was close to the band and he told me that Jeff Pilson was an even better singer then Don. Jeff Pilson... singer, bassist, keyboard player, guitarist, songwriter
Producer.
I like it alot.
he has such an amazing voice LOVE it!
Jeff has a great voice ! He could have very well switched off with Don throughout the years. It may have helped keep his vocal chords stay healthy.
NOPE. Don's issues are diet, exercise and a lack of will to keep a good vocal training regimen. It's a muscle. Use it or lose it.
