The way Blane looked at Andie... I would just die
favorite movie soundtrack of all time
James Spader stole this film. It wouldn't be as good with any other actor.
The Chicago record store was Wax Trax!
I ❤️ this movie 👩 Scranton, Pennsylvania
Pretty In Pink soundtrack was the first soundtrack album I bought. In the 80s it was NOT cool to buy a soundtrack album.
The only thing I think they got wrong in this movie was the way that the high school guys dressed...guys did not dress like that in high school in the 80s (referring to Spader and McCarthy characters).
The _Pretty In Pink_ soundtrack is a fantastic soundtrack, though I was a little disappointed at the time that The Rave-Ups weren't on it (the live band at the club). It's a great collection of songs that I've enjoyed to this day.
Soundtracks accompanying most films, with songs one would hear on the radio instead of instrumental scores, seems like it became popular in the 80s; it used to be that the only films that had soundtracks were either musicals, such as _The Sound of Music,_ or films with epic scores, such as _Star Wars,_ with a few exceptions, like _American Graffiti._
I hear you about the guys' attire; it was very different at my school, as well. Unless it was school picture day, or an individual had something going on immediately after school that required dress clothes, the most dressed-up or preppy the kids at my high school dressed (I graduated in '85) was a polo shirt or nice shirt/blouse with decent jeans, or sometimes Dockers-style trousers, and this was during the "designer jeans/clothes" era. I figured that the school in the film was closer to a big city, with some neighborhoods in the district being more upscale, and so some kids dressed up more frequently.

Simonne is that Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden on top of your head?
Back in this time period, you had to go to movies to see them, it took awhile to come out on VHS. John Hughes was the best ever in my opinion! Even though most of the actors were 10 yrs older than high schoolers it worked. The music in this era made the movie as much as the story and acting. Most kids at this time could relate as I did when I came out. The movies now are garbage.

I watched a video with Jon Cryer speaking about pretty in pink and honestly he bashed the audience. The audience, US who made the film what it is today. That rubbed me the wrong way. Then I read Andrew McCarthy's new book Brat in 80s story and that sort of rubbed me the wrong way as well. It seemed to me that Andrew McCarthy didn't appreciate the roles he ended up with and he was offered way more movie's than he appeared in, he apparently turned down some great film's. I'll never understand it, I only read the book once so maybe I'll read it again and hopefully my views will change on it.
fame and fortune can go to your head, at least these two seem that way from what you say about the books, if i ever see one of them i will certainly bring it up lol :) thanks for watching!
oh yeah, i liked it, i dont care what my friends think 🤣
